I came here for lunch on a weekday and it's great that Veggie SF takes reservations. We didn't have to wait and got seated right away. The restaurant is San Francisco themed. I felt extra excited to come here since I'm from San Francisco myself. All the decorations made me think of home. I decided to order the "I am fabulous" dish, which is basically a burger with a vegetable patty of your choice. The dish also comes with soup and a drink for lunch time. Before I talk about the food I wanted to mention the instance I encountered during my visit. One of the waitress was very rude when I had a question about the menu. While I was ordering the burger, she asked if i wanted to add cheese or "rockets" to my meal. Since I wasn't sure what rockets are I asked and her reply was "it's vegetables" While I was still confused, I asked how is it prepared? And what exactly are rocket vegetables? Or is it a type of vegetable? Then she got very annoyed and said "If you dont know what rockets are then I dont know how to explain to you. Rockets are vegetables." I just want to point out no matter how great the food is, service is still very important. This might make me never want to come back for another meal.
The carrot soup came out first. I must say the soup was better than I expected it to be. It was sweet and light with small chunk of carrot. I like how it's not so creamy like other vegetable soups of the same type. Personally though, I think it's a little too much soup for one person.
The main dish came out and it looked very appetizing. It came with a small salad on the side as well as pumpkin and potato wedges. The salad was refreshing since the dressing was light and tangy. I'm not exactly sure what it consists of though. The pumpkin wedges was so delicious! It was baked/grilled so perfectly that the pumpkin was sweet and soft. I also like the potato wedges where it tasted healthy since it wasn't deeply fried. As to the burger, I like the combination of vegetables that the burger came with. It had cucumber, sprouts, and tomatoes. Then the black pepper soy patty was topped with a white creamy sauce. The soy patty's texture actually reminded me of a turkey patty. It's flavorful and I love the black pepper that gave a kick to it. The hamburger bun is also very healthy since it's a wheat bun.
Lastly, I picked the soy mocha for my meal. I wasn't expecting the drink to be great since it came with the set lunch. But this mocha is actually above my expectation. It's very rich in chocolate flavor and the coffee wasn't too bitter. Overall, I think the food was healthy and delicious for a vegetarian meal. I would come back to try other food, but their service needs a lot more improving.
