Exploring Yau Ma Tei, I said I was hungry so we stopped here for dinner as it was bright and new looking compared to a number of other shops on this street. It was a typical cha chan teng. Menu is in English and Chinese with not 10% service charge. They also offer a dinner time menu that is in Chinese only and written on the wall. Those include a bowl of soup, either Chinese or borscht and rice. We decided to order from there. We each had a soup. This is the daily Chinese soup. A basic pork and c
We each had a soup. This is the daily Chinese soup. A basic pork and carrot. Very savory.
Boyfriend had the borscht soup. This tasted like more like tomato soup.
This is the eggplant with minced pork ($65). A little touch of spice. The eggplant was soft and soaked up the savory sauce well. Plenty of minced pork throughout. Very salty so you really do need rice.
This is the other dish we ordered: lemon chicken with sesame ($65). A bit dry and hard as the chicken meat was over fried. The sauce wasn't coated well. Just drizzled on. The sauce itself was a bit on the sweet side with no sourness to counterbalance it.
Food was average though the place is clean. Probably won't be back.
