Western style brunches in HK can be very overpriced. Something as simple as eggs on toast could easily cost you $100, especially if the restaurant is on the island side. The mark up is insane. So I was pleasantly surprised to find that the prices charged at APT coffee (in Wanchai) are not only reasonable but I would even say cheap, especially if you are only getting two toppings for your toast, which would only set you back $60, assuming you are not ordering any premium toppings for an extra cha
Of course, the reasonable price means nothing if the food isn’t good. But the food was excellent! They were very generous with the toppings; both my toasts were loaded with avocado and the scrambled eggs were perfectly creamy and fluffy. The tomato with feta cheese was also very good.
We also tried their lemon tart which was pretty good but nothing to write home about. However the presentation was great, and for $35 I was satisfied with what it was. Same for the coffee - good, but nothing extraordinary. I liked that they had lots of milk alternatives to choose from though!
Overall a very happy experience and I would definitely come back. The service is also really good, we never once felt pressured to leave even though there was a queue forming outside. Try and come early especially on weekends or expect to wait a bit for a table! I arrived around 12:00pm on a Saturday and only had to wait for a few minutes.
