Tonight I met up with my friend to have dinner at LKF. I haven’t had Chinese food for a long time and my friend suggested “fang fang” because they have fusion Chinese food. The atmosphere was so cosy, it really give out a comfortable and friendly environment. It was such a great place to hang around after work since they also have a bar and live music. We ordered quite a few things for appetiser, first it was the “cigar duck roll”, it really did look like a cigar, it was nicely displayed on a glass plate. The duck roll was crispy and crunchy with loads of duck meat. I dipped it into the hoisin sauce but I found it a bit too salty so I didn’t use it afterward. I thought the duck roll itself was tasty already.
The Crispy duck salad just blew me away! It smelled so good when it arrived and it tasted absolutely fabulous. We couldn’t see the duck in the beginning as it was covered up by the salad, after the young lady mixed for us, we could see loads of duck! They were just delicious! The meat was crunchy and tasty. I loved the plum dressing and the pine nut, it was a beautiful combination!
I have to say that the dim sum in here is amazingly good. We ordered the Premium deep fried dim sum platter which included spring roll, fried dumpling and turnip dumpling. The spring roll was so crispy, there were at least three shrimps inside, the texture of them was so crunchy. I loved the garlic flavour. The fried dumpling was very special as it uses wasabi and shrimp; the pastry was crispy and the flavour was mouthwatering. It was the best dumpling! The turnip dumpling was my favourite, it was full of pork and turnip. I don’t know how the chef did it but this dumpling was juicy and moist. I actually want more of this turnip dumpling.
As for our main, we ordered the jasmine tea New Zealand Pork ribs. When the staff open it, there was smoke coming out. We could smell the jasmine tea, it felt like we were surrounded with jasmine. The pork ribs were absolutely delicious, the texture was soft and tender. The flavour was spot on, I just couldn’t take my mouth off it.
It is important to have some rice for dinner so we got the signature fried rice, it is a combination of Iberico pork, Lily bulb, edamame and egg. It was presented nicely in a pot. The fried rice wasn’t oily and I really enjoyed it. The lily bulb really tasted so good in this dish, they were crunchy and flowery. The iberico pork was also a highlight as they were soft and tender. The rice was not sticky, I could taste every single one of them.
As for the drink, my friend got a drink called “wu shing”; she found it creamy and milky as it contained yoghurt. She said she could taste some chilly flavour on the second sip. The drink was quite tropical as it contains pineapple rum and mint. I enjoyed looking at the ice as it was the logo of the restaurant.
