Day off today, had an optometrist apppintment early in the morning at Melbourna Plaza in central. While waiting for the doctor to reexamine my eyes after applying medicated eye drops to enlarge the pupils, I had half an hour to fill my stomach. Not too many choices inside of Melbourne Plaza, so I decided to walk next door to LGB at LHT Tower. At just before 11, I was suprised to find the place half full. At just before 11, I was suprised to find the place half full. The place is semi self service, thus one has to order and pay first at the counter, so I placed my order for a Fresh Toast with mixed berries to go with a Flat White coffee. I was given a number stand to be placed on my table, so the servers will know where to bring my food to. My french toast arrived shortly after I seated myself, in about 10 minutes; but hang on, how about my coffee? I have always thought it's easier and faster to make a flat white than a french toast? I waived at a server standing by the counter chatting with the other attending the cashier. The server came by, and when I asked about my cooffee, reassured me that it is being made and will come soon.
Meanwhile two Caucasian guys stepped into the cafe and sat down next to me. Miraculously their flat white coffees came right away, even before mine!?
I patiently finished my french toast. The dish came with one piece of toast cut in half, slightly battered, sprinkled sparingly with bits of berries, and served with butter and syrup on the side. Not appealing but good enough to fill an empty stomach. I am not a particular big fan though, of the idea of putting a heavily balsamic dressed small greens on the side (Regrettably no photo was taken as the dish was gobbled up as soon as it hit the table).
At this point, I was still holding my breath for my first cup of coffee in the day. I waited a couple more mintues before I waved my arm at one of the lady servers again to enquire about my missing cup of flat white. Undoubtedly, it was totally being forgotten!
Ah, finally it came and boy! I waited almost half an hour for a cup of warm coffee-tasted-milk! And the brownmilk was not even frothy!! I couldn't think of having any coffee worse than this, even the American and the HK franchises who sell commodity coffees can produce far better quality coffees than LGB who claim themselves to be serving specialty coffee. I could only bear a sip of it eventhough that was supposed to be my first shot of energy in the day.
I didn't start the day well but on the bright side, I surely know where NOT to go for coffees going forward to avoid wasting money.張貼
