This is my first review on openrice after seeing this restaurant advertised on the homepage. My dream job would be to become a food critic so let's start here.I went out for a casual dinner in December 2013 to this branch of Babycafe with my friends who had booked this place. My first impression was "Who the hell is Angelababy?" (I have only started living in HK recently and haven't followed the local celebrity scene) but I thought that shouldn't matter too much because it's all about the restau
I went out for a casual dinner in December 2013 to this branch of Babycafe with my friends who had booked this place. My first impression was "Who the hell is Angelababy?" (I have only started living in HK recently and haven't followed the local celebrity scene) but I thought that shouldn't matter too much because it's all about the restaurant and what it offers, right?
My friends and I sat in one of the round cubicles with comfortable leather sofas and dim lighting. The decor created a relaxing atmosphere and it was reasonably quiet inside to faciliate conversation despite it being quite busy on a weeknight.
I had the set dinner and chose French Style Grilled Lamb Rack with Herbs (法式香草燒羊鞍架) to go with my soup and hot drink. The soup was unexciting and was probably made by some some mass-produced powder. However, the lamb was well-executed as it was tender and came off the bone easily.
On the other hand, the service was pretty Cha Chaan Teng standard which ruined the atmosphere somewhat. The cutlery and crockery was carelessly thrown onto the table by the waitresses as if they wanted to tell you they didn't care. When the waitresses brought the dishes to the table I only heard an inaudible mumble and had no idea what the soup it was!
Still though it was a reasonable price for what you could get in TST.
