Haven't had fine dine for a long time, so decided to try the famous One Thirty One located near Sai Kung. The place is quite hard to fine, suggest go by taxi. Once we sit in, they served us with a small snack. It looks like a thick deep fried noodle with a cheesy flavour. The cheese flavour was quite strong but not too over-whelming. Once we sit in, they served us with a small snack. It looks like a thick deep fried noodle with a cheesy flavour. The cheese flavour was quite strong but not too over-whelming. Too bad it was just a starter snack, we wished to have more.
Then came the crispy rice caviar, apple cake with caviar, mushroom consommé. The mushroom consommé was served with a test tube, had a problem drinking it, as I accidentally burnt by lips drinking it. But it was delicious and satisfying.
Foie gras roll with green apple. Can totally taste the amount of thought and effect put into this dish, the green apples on the side was marinated, the sourness of it balanced out the thick creamy texture of the foie gras mousse nicely.
Scallop, beet, bloody mary spagetti. It looks like a japanese sashimi salad. I love the spagetti so much!
Prawns with dried orange. Never tried prawn with texture like that. It was sooooo juicy. Wonder if this is sous vide. Was too busy drooling over the food forgot to ask the chef.
Maybe the other dishes pulled the standard to a very high level, in comparison, the duck wasn't as "exciting" as the others.
Last dish, DESSERT!!! Lime/lemon sorbet (forgot which was it... just remember it was citrusy), raspberry sorbet with aerated white chocolate. *clap clap* for the chef! That was one of the best dessert I every tried. $1200/per person might sounds a bit pricy, but after this visit, I think it worths every penny. Definitely will visit again.
