Bo Innovation, an extreme fusion Chinese restaurant which has been rated as michelin 3 stars the past few years certainly is on my list of restaurant to try. However, there are mixed reviews from different users at other forums, and many of them clamied that the food was over priced and also mixed comments of being gimmick. We went for their set lunch today, but boy it was spectautular!

It it true that it is not cheap to certain extend hkd 490 for 3 course lunch while many of the choices come with suppliment range from hkd 80 to 400 (for 4 onze wagyu beef)! Also, they do not offer tap water that you must order the distilled or sparking bottle that someone may feel a biy rip off.
But considering hkd 600 per person is still one of the cheapest michelin 3 star restaurants in the world. The setting is contemporary and relax enviroment with high ceiling, while you can have a very good view of the kitchen. Service is absolutely top class as waiter will keep refreshing the cleaning towel for you during each course. They also explain each dish in detail so you can understand clearly the ingredient and the way they cook the food.

First comes the starter snack, the hk style egg waffle stuffs with ham and lam vegatable. It is a very tasty snack as normally egg waffle is sweet but surprisingly it matches perfectly with the ham and lam vege. What a starter! I can keep on eating. We had the foie gras and kitimat spot prawn as the official first course. The foie gras is so good which mixed with caramel ice cream and apple source. There is also a touch of chinese "mui choy" flavor which provides another notch of chinese style saltiness. While my prawn with glass noodles is also extremely tasty with umamil oil.

We both ordered the pigeon shitake mushroom cake. What a wonderful main dish that the pigeon is perfectly cooked and it matches so well with the mushroom and sour plum source. Very impressive control of flavour and saltiness. For desert, they offer the coonut ice cream with pandan avocado, pina colada, and coconut chocolate. The presentation is so nicely done and the sweatness is controlled just right. An indeed very good ending towards the 3 course meal.

We had our slight scepticism before the meal as we heard and read very mixed reviews but our verdict is absolutely and positively recommended to try out. The flavor for each dish is very delicate and has its special character, which is a mixed of Chinese traditional flavour even though the food is all presented in a western style. I am sure there are other dishes that will be described as gimmick such as their signature molecular xiao long bao, which we did not order. However, the food, quality, service, the setting make it definitely worth a detour to try at least once when you have a chance.

They also had a dinner tasting menu, which will cost you more than hkd 2400 per head. Therefore, considering only 1/4 of the price, you can still enjoy a touch of the great chinese fusion cuisine from a michelin 3 star restaurant that will certainly not disappoint you. Therefore, highly recommended for their lunch set.
