After downloading the mall app, I received an offer to get a designated cake or coffee from Dalloyau for free! I told boyfriend and together we downloaded the app to get the offer. As the offer was for take away only, we arrived at the take away counter. We chose Saint Honore Vanille (on the left) and the French lemon tart (on the right). They packed it away nicely and we found a park bench to eat it. The French tart was good. The crust was soft and flakey. The lemon curd had a lovely lemon taste but wasn't as lemony as I would have liked. But it was fine. But the Saint Honore! What happened to this? The last time I ordered this, it was two soft cream puffs stuffed with a beautiful vanilla creme patisserie. But this? One hard puff pastry on the bottom and three rock hard puffs. With no filling at all! There was a tiny dab of creme patisserie in the middle but it was mostly whipped cream. But the worst? It was covered with a caramelized sugar syrup that tasted burnt. Quite possibly one of the worst cakes I've ever had.
What has happened to the quality? The cakes only cost $48. Price had definitely decreased from when it first opened. But apparently quality had decreased as well. What a sad state of things. I'm glad I didn't pay. I definitely won't be back.
