After taking one shuttle bus after another, and some walking, buddy J, M and I made it to Estab De Comidas Ngao Keo Ka Lei Chon. Environment & Hygiene:It was quite clean and neat looking inside surprisingly. It was funny because the TV was playing a very old TVB drama, and that was everyone's focus. Service:I laughed when the Michelin guide said that the service was warm and friendly. They made it sound so nice. The service wasn't bad, but there really was no warm feeling.
Taste & Value:
We ordered 2 of their famous dishes plus a snack.
1. "Crab mustard" Lo Mein 蟹黃撈麵 ($31) These were some good noodles. There was a lot of crab mustard that made the noodles quite wet and very greasy though. Not a dish for people who worry about their weight.
2. Crab Congee 水蟹粥 ($58 Bowl) This congee is offered in 3 sizes, and even we got the smallest size, we managed to get four servings out of it. The crab was quite small with not much meat to it, but it did its job. It added life to the boring congee. I'm not a congee person, but I loved this crab congee. It was so fresh! Also, I'm sure they added some crab mustard in it because it was so flavourful! I recommend this!
3. Deep- Fried Wonton (12 for $48) Don't think that these were just ordinary wontons. I think because they were fresh, they tasted so much better than other ones that I have had. As you can see, each had huge chunks of shrimps inside. A golden outer plus a juicy inside, they were a great snack.
4. M's $9 can of coke España!! This can of coke got me all excited for the World Cup that is soon to come.
Final Verdict:All dishes exceeded my expectations. It lived up to its reputation! I would love to go again! I should probably try their curry next time.
