After travelling to Belgium, apart from chocolate and waffles, the cuisine that I miss most is moules frites, known as mussels and fries in English. The restaurant which never disappoints me in reliving the taste of Belgium mussels is FRITES Belgium on Taps. As usual, we ordered one 1/2 kg mussel pot. We chose the basic one, which was FRITES house mussels. They were cooked with diced tomato, garlic, onion, light cream and fresh chives. All the mussels were fresh and meaty, with a pleasant taste of the sea. In other words, none of them was fishy, which was very important because merely one stale mussel could ruin the whole pot. Smothered in the light creamy sauce, the mussels tasted succulent, they reminded me of the holiday in Belgium. The side dish was also fulfilling as we could dip the bread into the creamy mussel sauce and the mayo was a perfect match for the hot fries.

Another main dish was Norwegian Salmon Fillet. Compared with the mussel pot, the fish was relatively ‘dull’. Yet, the lemon dill sauce helped to dress the fish up with a refreshing taste. So, we were satisfied with this main dish as well.
Without a doubt, I would highly recommend everyone to try the mussel pot at FRITES Belgium on Taps. I am sure every diner would enjoy the scrumptious mussels!
