This is my second time at this restaurant - the first being a couple years ago. I remember having an enjoyable meal back then. This time, we went for after dinner desserts and my opinion of this place did a complete 180.

Although the food was acceptable (ordered lime pie and signature banoffi pie), what changed my mind was the astonishingly bad service we experienced. First off, the place was half empty but we still had to wait a couple minutes before being seated. Despite being pretty empty and having way more servers than necessary, we had to wait at least 15 minutes before anyone came to check on us to see what we would like to order. After we ordered, the service deteriorated even further. We had 6 people sharing 4 pies for dessert - they came back with exactly the same no. of sets of cutlery as desserts we ordered and when we asked for 2 more sets we were met with bad attitude as if to say if you don't order a whole dessert you're not entitled to cutlery. Water was refilled only upon request and ONLY to the person who requested.

All the waiters/waitresses/managers etc all had some superiority complex and had appalling attitudes. They were all young and seemed like they believed it was beneath them to serve others. They almost acted like it was our honor to be able to eat there. It was not specifically what they did than the way in which they did things that puts this on my top 10 disaster meals. That kind of service immediately labels this place as a pseudo-american restaurant with only the looks of comfortable dining atmosphere but with dai pai dong service.

I am never coming back to this place. Frankly, I would rather dine at Mcdonald's and be greeted with smile and service than pay to be treated disrespectfully. 798 needs to learn that service makes up for 80% of the dining experience. The only reason we left any sort of tip was the fact that we couldn't wait to get out of there.

仲記得第一次去798,最深刻印象就係等到人都癲,等得到有位食得飯,已經冇咩胃口,再加上裡面人多應聲,太嘈,真係令人冇咩mood,好在食物好味,負負又得正,心諗「如果呢度唔使等位又靜就perfect啦!」呢個諗法,我諗有唔少朋友都有過。最近,再約朋友去,竟然望到有呢一日,真係唔使等,又唔太多人,靜靜地,真係可以慢慢食,傾下計!最抵係happy hour買一送一,酒可以飲得夠量,而食呢,都係一樣咁OK,以咁嘅收費,炸芝士夠香,羊柳夠嫩,ribs都香口味濃,炸魷魚都仲至少唔會令人失望。寫呢篇食評,係寫俾曾經鐘意798嘅朋友,有咩好食唔使講,只係想講,如果平日冇咩特別聚會,想靜靜食餐,唔使陪班friend去癲去試早知唔會好食得去邊嘅新餐廳,就係時候再返嚟呢度,係安全屋。

2011年7月24日,期待的一天。難得四個人相聚在一起的日子,今天我們選了798unit&co,位於尖沙咀的新"食街"厚福街內,小小的一條小巷,有著各式各國大小食店鹹甜俱全,短短幾年間也已經列入各大食家或飲食雜誌的"搵食"地圖,不容小覤~~!下午一時,到達餐廳的時候,客人不算多,可能時間還早,看看四周的環境,檯和檯之間有著一定的距離,美式餐廳的格子地板,櫸木的檯子椅子,放滿各種款式的酒樽,有格調得來舒適討好,每一張桌子上面都準備了今天的"MENU-All You Can Eat",形式是"任點任食",鹹款食物和甜點各佔左右兩邊,看來選擇不少。我們首先點的是:是日餐湯和eggs benedict(賓尼迪水煮蛋,英國鬆餅),eggs benedict沒有波菜,只是把水煮蛋放在鬆餅上面,切開來幸好是流心半熟蛋,深黃色的蛋黃飽滿蛋香十足~配上荷蘭醬真好吃,而muffins底也是外脆內軟,味道比賣相合格呢~一向鍾情吃羊的蘋果茶,本來蠻期待今天可以吃到好評的燒羊架,但是不知是不是轉了menu的關係,今天竟然沒有羊架啊有點失望了,試試menu上的cumin lamb loin(茴香燒羊柳),結果也是

我們首先點的是:是日餐湯eggs benedict(賓尼迪水煮蛋,英國鬆餅),
eggs benedict沒有波菜,只是把水煮蛋放在鬆餅上面,切開來幸好是流心半熟蛋,
深黃色的蛋黃飽滿蛋香十足~配上荷蘭醬真好吃,而muffins底也是外脆內軟,
味道比賣相合格呢~

一向鍾情吃羊的蘋果茶,本來蠻期待今天可以吃到好評的燒羊架,但是不知是不是轉了menu的關係,
今天竟然沒有羊架啊
有點失望了,試試menu上的cumin lamb loin(茴香燒羊柳),
結果也是失望,小小的一片沒有羊味沒有肉香,也沒甚茴香味,這個我們只點了一次罷了。
總括來說鹹點比較好吃的有:fried mozzarella stick(脆炸意大利芝士條),
粗粗的芝士條炸得乾身不油膩,黏黏的芝士餡和薄脆吉列外皮也造得不錯。
pepperoni pizza(辣肉腸薄餅)烘得很薄頗脆,配上蕃茄醬微酸開胃,
macaroni n cheese(焗芝士通心粉)分量少方便客人留肚吃其他食物,
crabmeat salad tartlet with thousand island sauce(千島汁蟹肉沙律撻)是迷你size一口一個,
外型"的骰"但餡料可以多一點會更好。

甜點方面麻,creme brulee(法式燉蛋)嫩滑有蛋味,小小一杯就能滿足味覺,
mango mousse(芒果慕絲)不太甜,淡淡的芒果味卻沒有甜品的太過甜膩感,滑滑的很快便吃了一杯。
a scoop of ice-cream(自選雪糕),送來的是士多啤梨味,口感比較實一點的雪糕,酸酸甜甜夾雜著粒粒果肉,
吃罷真覺得為這個afternoon tea/lunch劃上完美的句號。

說實在的如果是任吃buffet而言這裡的食物都是不過不失,
沒有好吃得特別突出的味道,
也沒有特別難吃的,
只說食物的味道和質素,這裡當然沒法跟星級酒店相比,
但是以價錢環境而論這裡大慨是一個好選擇,
由1:00pm到5:00pm,
我們在一起吃吃拍拍照,
過了一個悠閒自在又滿足的下午。

正! 唔多好羊既我都覺得好味。輕淡羊騷,表面有點烤焗的香味,5成熟是粉紅色,不過無絲毫血腥,而且肉質嫩得恰好。以且有個好似吉士醬的東東,味道好特別好好味,另有薄荷醬和英式介茉。

2. Baby Spinach + Corn ($68)
呢個見人見致。本人覺得真係有另一位食家講個種新鮮的味道,亦如他說的那個Dressing好味但稍嫌不夠。

3. Black Truffle Pizza ($148)
Menu寫明係Thin Crust,而且係最薄那款,如閣下只能接受厚底,咁你就可以skip。味道很香口而且用料豐富,size約Pizza Hut 的 Regular,分6份。因為其如3款Pizza比較常見,所以呢個係值得一試。

4. Risotto
這個我不會評,因為比較少食。印象中及據了解正宗的Risotto比較硬身,以798的是在我能接受的範圍,味道偏重,有白酒香。(吃過硬得吃不下,或不想吃下的) 朋友評又一城那間意大利餐廳的Risotto比較好.。

5. Angle Hair
本人只吃了少許,因為也不愛天使麵。喜歡酸味的可以點這個,有幾只蝦和Cherry Tomato,賣相是相當吸引的。

主吃:整體都十分滿意,上菜時都熱騰騰的。

a. 鹽雪糕 + bread pudding
我又係唔食呢個,因為吃過難吃得要名,不過798的bread pudding 面曾做得很鬆化,蛋香和甜度剛好balance,必點!! And 所謂鹽雪糕我懷疑係caramel加鹽,又甜又鹹好好味,有別於日式超市的那種海水味道。(註:兩樣我都覺得好味)

b. 薑雪糕 + 蘋果唔知乜餅
見識少,真係唔知乜餅。係餅,唔係apple crumble,但正因為佢係餅乾似的,食完唔會飽濟,而且輕輕焦糖了的蘋果片撞薑味,兩樣都咁出式。(警告:極重薑味)

c. 心太軟 + Hazelnut雪糕
唔知可唔可以改雪糕,個Hazenut甜到呢...我真係唔建議,除非你係鐘意甜甜甜。(本人算吃得甜,但呢個甜到頭痛。)
主角心太軟又...我喜歡 金滿堂的那種,蛋糕部份只是外殼,柔軟泥狀,大量溶掉了的巧克力在裡頭,濃郁卻少甜。
798的剛好相反:整個像Brownie,巧克力流質較少,超超超甜,最後...有點冷掉了。

甜品:只來吃甜品也好,不過心太軟真係唔好咁甜啦唔該。

環境+服務:OH! 那是令人會再想回來的地方。侍認生不算很主尊業,不過很有內心和很親切,食客聊天時也不會做小動作趕客,也不會趕忙要你快落單。餐具好像只有一種,意思是它不拘泥甚麼甜品用頭盤用主菜用那重細節。所以它是個你能在下班後,一班朋友吃著好菜,談天說地再吃個甜品的地方。地磚關係,人多是有點吵,不過光線柔和,而且檯與檯之間的距離為適當。順帶一提,牆邊的卡位極為舒適,是那種會讓人產生睡意的舒服,早到就一定要選他們坐。

今日同啲老朋友聚聚,其中一個frd推介呢間,所以book左位試下平日的關係,間野唔係好full,整體氣氛幾好,裝修得唔錯!樣樣野都幾好味,我最中意個flatbread!好特別好濃好香既菇味個個都叫左杯cocktail試下,但杯杯都唔係幾好飲,大家都冇飲晒3個人食左600幾,勝在atmosphere好!

我被它的材料吸引. 克松露, 什菌及芝士. 所以選手製PIZZA為主菜.
先說說那個Pizza的面糰, 用手拿來吃時, 橄欖油竟然瀉出來, 令我非常狼狽. 我相信廚師勺得過多橄欖油在面糰上, 所以發生這樣情況.
咬一口後, 邊太硬, ,沒有脆的感覺但中間是軟綿綿. 應該廚師焗得過火.
至於餡料方面, 有好多黑松露, 什菌略炒後才放上去焗,令到什菌有一點點香味. 對於喜愛吃芝士的我, 嫌芝士太少. 不過如果落得太多芝士又會搶走黑松露的味道.

我們點了2個. 第一個是香蕉拖肥批. 這個需要一點點時間. 是因為廚師要燒一燒香蕉.
批上的意大利馬令, 我嫌太不夠軟熟, 沒有入口即溶的感覺. 味道不是太甜. 還有一點要說是那個批不是用甜脆皮也不是用酥皮. 而是用消化餅攪碎而成. 所以有點硬硬的感覺. 如果喜歡吃消化餅底的朋友, 這個批一定滿足到您

最初, 餐牌是配另一種味道雪糕, 但我又未試過海鹽味. 我便問侍應可否轉嗎???侍應說沒問題, 我還問多一句(想弄清楚)"需要加錢嗎??"
侍應擰頭. 太好啦, 其他餐廳, 許多時候不依餐牌要求落單或轉其他東西. 大致上是不可以或者另加錢.
甜品上檯時, 我非常有點不悅. 廚師將個心太軟拮開, 內面的朱古力餡全部流出來. 在於美感上是滿分但對於我來說是零分. 因為我喜愛吃心太軟除了外脆內軟的感覺外, 還喜愛拮下去那種興奮感

至於味道, 第一口吃海鹽雪糕好難吃. 是不慣冰冷的雪糕有濃烈的鹹味. 第二啖時我將雪糕加上心太軟反而突出濃濃的朱古力味.


環境方面. 需要全層是798, 但不知道為什麼可以這樣嘈吵, 是因為高朋滿座定還是裝份問題呢???? 還有一點是此店老板用盡每吋地方, 雖然是開方式廚房, 可以讓客人看見廚師烹調的情況但圍住開放廚房, 也是放滿檯及椅子, 而每枝柱的後方也放一張2人檯. 檯與檯之間只有1吋相隔. 完全可以聽到別人談話內容.

服務方面, 人手明顯不夠, 但勝在侍應眼明手快夠醒目. 不用您多說一句, 已經滿足您需要. 還有您有什麼要求也盡量滿足您

一行數7點靚八點上去.. 去到大約只有一半滿坐.

Overall, taste + service + environment is good.

I heard that no need to wait for a table even on weekdays which is good news for those who had only one hour lunch time OL.

They offer promotion too. A stamp card - collect 6 stamps to enjoy one free lunch!!

於是成晚我們2人沒有太多交流

哦?! 個聖誕set冇水仲要冇drink. OK,要左個hot chocolate,淡淡的...

就咁就食左個兩個人成千蚊既聖誕大餐.
食得起,俾呢個錢,唔係應該食呢個quality既野呱?

講多句. 有個經理非常勤力,但永遠黑口黑面,佢唔會得罪你,但響一個普天同慶既日子,係咪應該笑返個呢?! 又或者帶返個口罩?? (上次交訂都已經係咁嚴肅...)

仲有,隔離檯唻晒main dish先發覺未到個湯,可能大日子,忙中有錯??

三樣都好飽肚, 食完真係好飽~ 當然, 愛食甜品既女友就算幾飽都要食呢度既 chocolate fondant (我一早同呢度 d 員工夾定左響甜品碟做手腳架嘛!!), 而我就叫左 bread pudding~ 一切依計劃進行, 女友見到碟甜品寫左佢個名同 happy birthday 果陣真係勁開心, 員工亦主動提出幫我同女友與生日甜品合照添~ 好多謝餐廳既安排!! 而且呢兩款甜品真係好好食~

餐廳既員工好有禮貌, 服務態度誠懇親切, 經常面帶笑容, 仲好有心~ 我同女友走果陣, 佢有好幾位員工都向我女友講 "生日快樂", 雖然只係一句簡單既說話, 卻能令客人覺得很窩心!!

the food is good for value. the service is ok though after the restaurant is full house (around 2), the waiter start missing our main course order that we have to urge for our order twice and the waiter re-take our order again which is already 30 minutes later. For the price again this service is toterable that it is not our intention to eat fast and rush
. We had our brunch for more than 4 and a half hour.

Out of our expectation, some dessert is already sold out after 1. Probably next time we need to reverse our order to have the dessert first,
