 , so I walked into the restaurant and say "excuse me, we would like a table for 4" to one of the lady in black suit, I think she's a manager. She replied: "tables outdoor are full, we have table inside only. and she walked away" HOW RUDE
. and I said to her, "yes we have been waiting to locate a seat for 4, INSIDE please"
We sat down , looked at the menu, for more then 10 mins, no one service, no water or drinks.
and I finally called a waiter. She said " What food would you like?" I told her " we need sparkling water please. I am very thirsty, I have been waiting for 10mins to order some drinks." Without even asking if I want any other drinks or wine, she stood there.
 I told her " I am very thirsty, can I have the sparkling water first??" she left without saying anything.

Then we waited for about another 5 mins with no service, and we called another man in black, suspect another manager. We order some dishes, he expression was certainly rude, with no smile. no explanations on dish. no recommendation on wine either even when we questioned.
 We finally ordered 3 starter and 4 main dishes 3 dessert and 1 red wine to share.

To be honest, I have had Italian dishes much better from few restaurants in Soho and in a lower price. The food at Al Molo is good, but not special. For HKD500 per head, I am only paying for The sea view which is fantastic
, and seat are comfortablely apart.
 

And for a michelin chef opened restaurant , certainly not up to standard

We ordered Cesare salad, the dressing is fantastic not too salty and creamy, different from other restaurant. Caprese is sliced tomatoes and burrata cheese with aged balsamic and basil (pretty standard, no suprise) and Tartare di Filetto - marinated raw beef, shallots, cornichons, trio of condiments, serve with fresh olive bread (must try!!!) as appetizers; main course: Osso Buco - good portion for 2, three person is ok - juicy and tender; pizza is outstanding in Al Molo, last time we had Prosciutto - contains parma ham, mozzarella and rucola; this time we ordered Salsiccia - contains pork sausage, broccoli rabe and smoked mozzarella, alos thumb up!!! we almost fight for the last piece. Besides, pizza, Pasta is also outstanding, we chose the basic spaghetti cooked with pomodoro, basil and extra virgin olive oil, simple is the best and the basic spaghettil is the most challenge to handle. Last but not least, we ordered the dessert, though we are very full, dessert has its room to fill up, panna cotta - quite good with home made melon sorbet and sponge cake, Semiferrodo - very impressed and highly recommended. Its not only an ice-cream, there is cruch cholocolate inside the ice-cream stand on a piece of cook (not Oreo), Tiramsu - quiet disappointed.  A complimentary bottle of red/white wine with bill total at $1000 offered by HSBC Premier credit card till Dec 31, 2013

While we were waiting, a pair of foreigners (look like tourists) came in, again without reservation. They asked for a table and were given one immediately.

2 - 3 minutes later, a staff looked like to be the manger came and told us that they could not provide us any table. He apologized for making a mistake and suggested us to go to a nearby restaurant for lunch.

From what we saw (2 batches of walk-in clients), we have reason to believe that it is their usual practice to give away the reserved tables to walk-in clients especially if you are foreigners or tourists.

I am sure many of us understand how annoying it is by making all your way to a restaurant, making reservation days ahead, arrive punctaully and eventaully finding that the restaurant staff give your reserved table to walk-in clients.

So those of you making a reservation in AL Molo, be careful. Your reservation is not protected. At the end, what you may get back is a word of "Sorry" and tons of anger.

Carpaccio is the international name of a typical Italian dish made with raw meat. The meat here sliced a little more thickly which made it a bit more rustic and you can really taste the quality of the meat.
Perfect balance of flavors, perfect preparation. It came with three different dips were phenomenal (but i have forgotten what flavours those were). 
A really tasty and unique dip with the perfect amount for entree. 
I could dip bread in those all night.

The salad bar was okay but  the fact they had prosciuttowas a big plus!

I love seafood and this cod was really juicy.  You can also taste the "oil" of the fish for a lack of better terms.  The tomato sauce at the bottom really gave it a nice touch for flavor.  The mashed potato block sitting below the cod was not bad but I am not a mashed potato person.

My son had the risotto (it was a big plate).  I could smell the dish across the table.  The mushroom chunks were quite big and it was cooked just right.  We asked for more cheese and it really tasted yummy.  I am not sure if many people can finish this after a few plates of food from buffet area.

If there was one thing that I did not like about the place, it will be the fruit platter.  It was not refilled as fast as other items on the buffet tables.  Mango was a nice touch but it was almost impossible to get even a piece of it.  At about HKD400 a person, I thought it was good vaue for the money.

I am sure I will coming back here again but next time, it will be for dinner!

We order pepperoni pizza and a signature pasta (forgot the actual name). I am not sure if they did it on purpose or it just randomly happened (because the waiter didn't mention it to us before hand) that the pasta came after we finished the pizza...although there was a long gap in between. The pizza is very nice with a bit of spicy but it was just about right. The pasta was not so good as there were too many bacon which made it too salty.

We had a look at the desserts menu but wasn't that attractive so we headed home~One thing that they didn't do that well is the service...we wanted to check the bill but they were too busy and ignored us even was waved for a long time...ended up took us 20 mins to get the bill!!!!

早1星期用openrice訂檯,但估唔到假期前夕都唔多人喎已經唔只一次係海港城迷路,今次也不例外,搵左10分鐘才搵到,真沒想過要穿過一些化妝品店舖才到訂檯時本來order了窗邊位置,但由於遲到,所以無左張檯,但都幫我倆安排了4人卡位全店大部分侍應都是外國人,餐牌全英文,不太清楚是什麼,於是叫個貌似中國人既侍應來,怎料也是外國人,最終請她推薦好了(後來發現餐廳有中文餐牌架,要問先有>.<)先來了wild mushroom, 少少辣,幾好味!再才了polpette, 即係cheese balls, honey話麻麻地,因食唔到好濃既芝士味,但我就幾中意個味道之後的pasta 和pizza 是waitress 推介的,pasta係Sedanini,芝士味幾濃。而pizza係salsiccia,我估係6吋批,幾脆架!仲叫了2杯野飲,pineapple 和lemon soda, 後者好飲d!總括而言,正如honey話,雖然係唔清唔楚既情況下點菜,但都幾好味呀!用American Express埋單,有9折。

We didn't know where to go on a Sunday afternoon, and Al Molo came to mind. The weather was nice enough to sit outside. The best thing about this lunch buffet is that we didn't have to 'fight' to get our food. A great selection of salad and antipasti dishes. Love the stuffed pepper with tuna. The breads were great. We ordered the steak and lobster ravioli dishes, fantastic! The steak was done just perfectly and the poached egg sat beautifully on top of crunchy potatoes. The ravioli was so flavor

The best thing about this lunch buffet is that we didn't have to 'fight' to get our food. A great selection of salad and antipasti dishes. Love the stuffed pepper with tuna. The breads were great.
