終於收工番到家了。講番正題先,點解叫回味。前日下午我同幾位同位去左蘇豪附近揾野食,經過依間餐廳門口,見到店內咁多人,都應該幾好食掛。就係咁我地入左去食野,好運的係我地唔使等位入到去我就有一種回到家的感覺,個個的笑容都好nice,服務態度好好,雖然佢地好忙,但個個都好有耐心同孚有禮貌咁解答我地的問題,比著其他的餐廳,一定唔會咁好老脾。環境氣氛仲好好tim,下次一定要叫埋女友去試下。講番食物先,頭盤係蕃茄水牛城芝士沙律,新鮮美味可口,芝士味濃郁order 左個蕃茄雞肉濃湯,冇改錯名,蕃茄味真係好鮮濃,正!main 我叫左個磨菇蟹肉扁意,真係好好食,好想再食多一次最後係甜品,特濃朱古力cheese cake,甜品當然有番咁上下水準,前菜主菜都咁好,冇理由會衰最尾既依幾日都成日諗住果個lunch ,明日一定要再去食先!!

終於收工番到家了。

How well is the food? My friend J and I started off a journey at SOHO, trying to find the answer by ourselves. This restaurant was our first stop.

We strolled along the south of Hollywood Road with no fixed destination in mind. Noticing that there were some customers in this nicely decorated restaurant (and that there are more than a hundred of smiley in Open Rice), we decided to give it a try. It was 12:15pm. There were a number of empty tables which however had been reserved. The waitress said she could give us a table if we could return it by 1:30pm, and took us to an old Chinese building right next to the restaurant.

After climbing up the few stairs in the old building, we settled down at this upper branch of the restaurant, which shared a consistent theme with the branch on the ground. It was surrounded with red bricks of walls, reminding me of a fortress or a castle.

I ordered a set lunch ($98), which included:
1. Mozzarella Cheese and Tomato Salad,
2. Soup of the day,
3. Sea Bass fillet with tomato salsa (there were two other courses that you could choose- chicken steak and lamb brisket),
4. Daily dessert,
5. Coffee

Slices of baguette were warmly served with creamy butter. At that time, there were not many customers and was quite quiet with soft music. The bread was so crispy that the customer at the far end of the restaurant could probably hear the cracking sound made by me.

This very piece of bread and butter raised my expectation of the food here, which was however disappointing.

Corn soup with ham was the soup of the day. It was served with the salad.
It was not a cream soup. The cubes of ham were salty and a bit hard. The corns were crunchy. Nothing special. The soup did not go well with the baguette.
And there was the awkward moment... when the diameter of the cup was small while the spoon was not.

The mozzarella was actually quite nice. Soft and lightly sour. I like the vinegar dressing. However together with the tomato, the combination could only lead me to one adjective- sour.

I like the eye-catching red and green of this dish.
The skin of the fillet was quite crispy. But the texture of the flesh was poor- hard, dry and rough. What's worse, it seemed to be stale. The mash potato was cold.
The sourness of the tomato salsa was refreshing, and the asparagus was sweet and juicy. However these could not help much to this dissatisfying main course.

The daily dessert was chocolate cake - seriously?The chocolate flavour was so weak that I suspected scarce cocoa powder was the only chocolate ingredient in this cake and its ganache. If the cake were not in brown, I would have thought that was just a piece of sugary cake. Also the amount of nuts was embarrassingly small.

The "Create your own pasta" set included salad and soup (which were double the size of mine), pasta, daily dessert and drink. One could choose the pasta, the ingredient and sauce.
J chose French Sweet Shrimp, Broccoli and Cauliflower with dill in cream linguini. The source was creamy and lightly sour, tasting good. However the sweet shrimp was unacceptably small! Including its head, it was even smaller than my little finger. I could hardly imagine a decent restaurant in SOHO would serve shrimps that were so small and dry.

Overall comment/ Next?
J and I still do not understand how this restaurant could receive so many positive comments. Is it because they put more effort or have a better chef at night when they charge people at a much higher price (and the commentators come at night?)? Given that there was full booking, perhaps J and I were the only unfortunate customers? Quite sure that I would not be back again.
Other Info. : The restaurant was operated by the group Le Fauchon. I visited their website, and found that the words they used to describe themselves did not match with my dining experience. "The mouth watering audacities were accompanied by impeccable service, nothing more could be asked for..." Nothing more could be asked for? Seriously? Well, it is seriously... doubtful.

我要了一個扒美國豬鞍肉配甜椒燒汁,濃濃的汁其實是這一個餐的主體。豬肉有著一種本地豬隻沒有的香味,肉質肥美而腍身,很容易切亦很容易入口。肉味當然是十分之香啦,只是伴扒用的炸著略為燶了少少。

朱古力蛋糕味道十分濃郁,是整個午餐最好吃的啊~~

Le Fauchon應該是吃法國餐吧,但這個午餐給我整體感覺很港式,或者我抱有太大期望吧。午飯時間過得很快,又要怱怱忙忙回辦公室工作了~~

朋友過來香港,林住簡間環境好D既。第二次來呢間餐廳了。提前訂左夜晚7點半位。來到時沒咩人到。但8點左右就滿座了。食物:4人行。每個人都叫左一個4道菜。點完餐沒幾耐,就上左麵包和牛油。4個人吃左一半。結果證明我地系明智既。環境唔錯。食物質素高。就系價錢有些貴。不過沒辦法啦難得朋友過來。要豪一豪距咖啦。香港吃晚餐系甘上下。總體來講系唔錯的。

今天為了幫同事慶生,
我地特意到了Le Fauchon吃午餐,
想不到還沒到一點鐘的時間,
這間餐廳已經客滿,
還有有訂了位

食物:
首先侍應就把熱騰騰的麵包放在桌上,
另付一大片牛油4個人分,
麵包雖小,但外層脆, 內層鬆, 加上牛油的確是很開胃的前菜

餐湯跟沙律不像一般餐廳,

不需選擇2種都有,
湯是羅宋湯, 用杯上, 湯很濃, 但味道適中不太酸, 湯底有小蝦粒, 為單調的餐湯提供了一些"口感"
而沙律則是簡單的2大片蕃茄加一些可以生吃的生菜,
簡單但不錯的清新開胃菜

主菜我點了medium rare(3成)的牛柳,
因為是這間有名的餐廳,
所以我才敢叫3成的牛柳,
出來的效果不錯,
雖然牛柳不如想像中厚,
亦沒有濃烈的牛肉味,
但3成的牛柳也頗JUICY,
附上少許法式芥末的刺激,
已經足夠滿足我的味蕾
不過, 兩塊中的一塊牛柳煮得太熟,
應該有5-6成吧?

予人驚喜的是甜品,
小巧的巧克力蛋糕已經有很濃的巧克力味,
不過有點太甜,
不像潮流興的苦中帶甜的巧克力
Other Info. : 有點小問題是. 餐廳上菜有點慢, 由上前菜到飲品花了超過一小時, 吃完後我們得趕回公司呢

工作天與同事的午餐訂了12:30, 不用等位, 由待應帶到店子旁唐一樓, 雖然內裡裝修不錯, 有大約十張枱但始終在餐廳外的地方到我們坐的地方, 感覺不是太好午餐的餐牌有三款, 分別是自選意粉餐, 行政午餐, 和我點了的午餐套餐, 後兩者的分別在於行政午餐會有兩款前菜及可以算特別點的點品點完菜, 先來法包, 脆脆的做得不錯, 熱度又剛剛好可以讓牛油溶掉前菜是煙三文魚沙律和葡式什菜湯, 兩樣都很清新, 是適合在開始天熱時食用的菜式, 只是菜湯味淡了點主菜點了紐西籣肉眼配燒黑椒汁, 要medium肉眼的肉味不錯, 肉汁還能鎖在裡面, 可惜, 他由我點了medium變了 medium well, 切開的時候, 有一些位差點連點點紅色都找不到, 或許這真是法國餐廳, 所以煮牛扒沒有西餐廳般那麼準確吧甜品是一小件chocolate cake, 沒有什麼特別, 但用來伴咖啡剛好整體來說, 雖然吃完了整頓飯除了法包以外, 都不太看到法國的影子, 不過, 以這個價錢來說, 是一個不錯的午餐選擇

工作天與同事的午餐

訂了12:30, 不用等位, 由待應帶到店子旁唐一樓, 雖然內裡裝修不錯, 有大約十張枱

肉眼的肉味不錯, 肉汁還能鎖在裡面, 可惜, 他由我點了medium變了 medium well, 切開的時候, 有一些位差點連點點紅色都找不到, 或許這真是法國餐廳, 所以煮牛扒沒有西餐廳般那麼準確吧

講番食品,頭盤,我地叫左個Lobster Ravioli 同埋 Baked French Escargot,
Main course叫左Augus Rib Eye 同埋 New Zealand Lamb,
Dessert 叫左Mille Feuille & Tiramisu

個Ravioli的龍蝦味好出,而個田螺焗得好香,令人食慾大增


Main 的成數佢地控制得好好,不得不讚的係佢地的羊腩,
真係值得一試 !


甜品方面發揮出應有的水準,好味!

平常與同事都去公司附近的茶記,今次約了舊同事,一於去食好一些!這是第三次光顧這兒了,價錢沒變選擇都一樣,有湯,沙律,送甜品和飲品。:)畢竟主菜才是重點。我選了燒春雞,份量一樣的足,味道層次豐富,不過雞肉煮得有些過火,有點鞋口。值得一提是這兒已擴充到兩層,walk in 有機會找到位子。

烤鴨腿 肉質很硬,像吃豬肉乾,有一點鴨味但嘗不到半點烤鴨肉的香味。真的不知廚師怎樣弄這道菜,可能他/她把急凍鴨腿先解凍然後不醃放入烤爐焗,熟了後灑上一些醬汁便功成身退了。伴菜是蕃薯。這道菜味道及用料真的一般。
