Basically it was a bit like a sweet flan with lots of European fruit in it from blueberries, strawberries and pears.
The sweetness was just right and I liked it because it was crammed with lots of fruit pieces.
It was slightly different to the frozen one I had because that one just had cherries and it was much sweeter.

There is a limited selection of teas, an extensive list of mocktails and a comprehensive list of coffee-based drinks. There are around 10 choices of cake on display at the fridge, not sure if all were freshly made but...cakes still taste great after a day or two. I was quite intrigued by this type of syrup they sprinkle on top of water to enhance its flavour. Well technically it's not an flavour enhancer...but I was thinking how awful it would taste. I ordered a Ginger lemon tea $45 instead. It was nice and hot - you get a little more than 3 full cups from the pot.

Looked so good. Moist, cakey and dense, full of plump, juicy and sweet blueberries. The body of cake was quite sweet I thought. The cake came straight from the fridge. I wondered whether it would taste better if it had a few minutes in the oven before serving. But if might lose some of the moisture. It is a tradeoff. And is a very difficult decision to make.

The lemon curd was very tart and lemony.
Tasty as it was I realized I cannot eat too much of this. Firstly because it's very filling, secondly because you know how much sugar has gone into the curd to balance out the sour from the lemon. It's much more intense than the starbucks lemon tart, which is much lighter, and milder in flavour. A matter of personal preference. But I must make a remark about the crust - which was highly disappointing. It was bland and flaky. I thought starbucks did a better job with the crust - which was at least, sweet, and dense, like cookie crust. I think a good pie crust should be yummy even if eaten alone. The one made by Lavande could not be enjoyed in and of itself. It must be accompanied by a forkful of lemon curd. I ended up scraping off the curd from the crust and eating that alone. Fail.

L ordered this, expecting it to be some sort of toast. We didn't expect it to look like this. All ingredients tasted normal. Generous drizzle of EVOO.

Lavender cake
L bought a slice to go. The first slice carved out from the loaf was disappointingly thin, so L asked the shopkeeper for a more generous portion. The shopkeeper was slightly embarrassed by the request and reluctantly agreed to carve out one more thin slice for us. Heh. Tasted really strongly of lavender. So if you're a fan of eating lavender, you will really like this cake. It looks dry but is actually quite moist, and fragrant.

Conclusion:
Will come back again. Not that the food is exceptional, but the environment is so homey and inviting, and I like the quietness.
It's just the decor and the laid-back atmosphere that attracts me. And of course, a thin slice of cake washed down with a cup of hot tea. Mm.

It's not difficult to find, just get onto the escalators to midlevels

吃了業餘級點心及只能說勉強合格的奶茶,約了唔太在中上環等,她想吃個下午茶才回家,也好!就一於去喝杯咖啡吧,二人不辭勞苦的走了上山,就是要吃件餅,喝杯咖啡。店家只是一所小店,店內只有個小小的餅櫃及咖啡吧的位置,另外就只能放兩枱桌椅,其他的位置就全在店外,感覺非常之外國,是日天氣雖冷,但在下午和暖的陽光照射下,坐室外都不算太冷,感覺都幾舒服悠揚。店家供應的食物都是簡單的Café食物,價錢其實都幾貴,六十元一件多士,雖然是即焗,看來都真不錯,但要上六十元一件,加上又沒有下午茶餐,散點就不如吃件蛋糕,伴上咖啡,就是一個自配下午茶餐。從店家的餅櫃中挑選了杏仁巧克力蛋糕及法式藍莓草莓櫻桃餅,可是最後店家錯來了雜果巧克力蛋糕,但當我發現之時,已經吃了數口,所以都決定算了吧,可是最令人不快的是件餅不好吃,所以才更心有不甘,這件巧克力蛋糕,竟然有很丁點的咸味,而巧克力味就近乎零,蛋糕內夾住的的巧克力粒、杏脯、糖槳、杏仁、櫻桃乾,其實都是口味較濃而有咬口的乾果,跟本應鬆軟而事實又不太鬆軟的蛋糕非常不合襯,可能是本人不懂欣賞吧,但吃從來都是很主觀的事。另外一件西餅選取了法式藍莓草莓櫻桃餅,有不少的藍莓及草莓

另外一件西餅選取了法式藍莓草莓櫻桃餅,有不少的藍莓及草莓陷入了蛋糕的面層內,但原來它們全都是浸過糖水的貨色,吃起來一點也不新鮮不天然,下面的蛋糕濕漉漉的,是那濕透近乎粉腍的狀態,口感異常嚇人,加上吃起來一陣藍莓藥水的味道,蛋糕的底部藏有一點蘋果,吃來很爽口,不過一點蘋果也沒有,真的神奇,這件餅真的用難吃來形容,也絕不為過。

之後就到咖啡環節,不知此店的咖啡可否為蛋糕拉回一點分數了,Single Espresso超大杯,絕對是比理論上的三十毫升還要多,面層的Crema太淺色,部份位置更是近乎白色,可見店家煮這杯Espresso時,經過Coffee Cake的水只集中經過一個裂痕出水,這通常也是填壓不好的結果,這個煮Espresso的基本功也做不好,也不要旨意其咖啡有什麼好了。

結果如我所言,咖啡嗅起來沒多大的香味,味道不夠濃而有型無神,甘至近苦而缺乏醇味,Coffee Cake有裂痕,懶散的水一定取捷徑而走,那根本就抽取不到咖啡美好的脂質了,對於咖啡的烘焙的質素及味道,根本是全然也未能在這杯Espresso之中反映出來了。

之後的咖啡是一杯特式的咖啡,見到有一款名為栗子拿鐵,當然想試一試,此咖啡看來有點維也納咖啡的風格,面層厚厚的忌廉,喝起來不期然真的是甜了一點,至於那令人期待的栗子味,啊!對不起!真的怎也喝不出是栗子味吧,本人肯定喝得出有果仁類的味道,但都肯定不是栗子味,一杯如此甜的杏味咖啡,真的不是本人所好。

為何是日的咖啡及蛋糕,吃什麼都好像不是其所預期的味道呢?何解?是我味覺失調嗎?

其實真的吃得人摸不着頭腦的一餐,吃什麼都沒有其味,看來是日的食緣真的很差,吃了三餐都真麻麻,就連這所不少好評的店子,也令我吃罷搖頭,今晚都是回家吃穩妥一點。

The exterior of the coffee shop reminded me of one of the coffee shops overseas. When we entered, the interior and design reminded me of a coffee shop in Paris. Very French and I like it! Even the bathroom was very French - small and fraganted.
Okay back to the coffee we've all been waiting for.

It was really yummy too! The hazelnut taste balanced well with the coffee with just the right amount of ratio to nut taste in which the hazelnut taste wouldn't overpower the coffee taste, nice!

And we both shared the toasted wholemeal bread topped with mozzarella cheese with tomato and olives.

This was a very healthy option and a great way to start the day. However due to the juice from the tomatoes, the wholemeal bread became a little soggy after a very short while even though the bread was toasted. Nevertheless, we still enjoyed our healthy meal.

The second time I went back was to chill-ax and enjoy my book in a setting that I missed. This time I found out that their coffee was stocked from Italy. I actually expected it to be stocked from France as the entire layout of the cafe calls for French-style coffee shops. But that doesn't stop me from enjoying a good cup of coffee.

This time I tried what my friend ordered last time; Almond Cappuccino. Indeed it was good.
I again ordered the toasted bread with mozzarella, tomato and olives but this time it was even more soggy than the first time. Maybe because it got a bit busy this time. And I didn't bother to take a photo and I was busying with my book haha.
I have also noticed from my first visit is that their music needs to be louder. Yes they play lovely relaxing music but they need it to be a bit louder as I could hardly hear it the first and the second time, and silence brings awkwardness.
I've also realised that they do 10% surcharge. I didn't notice the first time but the second time when I went to pay my bill, I thought the bill would add up to $9X but it went to $1XX. So yes, I do find it a bit dear for one coffee and two slices of toasted bread.

All-in-all, it is a cute and relaxing place to chill out. I would be back again, after I try all the other coffee shops around first though

Environment:
Tucked away at Princes Terrace, this place offers some exclusivity, quiet, calm. No exhaust. Sometimes diners would bring their dogs and throw a ball for them to fetch. During our visit there were some people shooting an advertisement. Something to do with kick-boxing perhaps. I also like the decor inside the little shop. It's farm-like, and homey.

People:
The shop owners are extremely friendly and helpful. I think it's a family business. They were really laid back, didn't chase us out of the restaurant when we'd finished our tea, and even offered to take photos for us (we were in need of help).

Not my personal favorite. It was basically 2 layers of moist yellow cake glued with chocolate. The chocolate was quite sweet. Almond = tasted like the Chinese dessert almond paste. I found that the flavours didn't match well. Didn't really like it. Next time I'd go for the chocolate fruit cake, which looked much more substantial and authentic (at least the whole cake was chocolate colored).

This is a good interpretation of the classic apple cake. It contains a lot of apples, berries. Dried/preserved strawberries we discovered. Worked well - they prolly used preserved strawberry coz the fresh ones would melt into a gooey paste in the cake and there'd be a hole by the time the cake is served. The cake itself wasn't to sweet - good. The best thing about this cake is how it LOOKED: yummy! Suggested improvement: reheat before serving. Perhaps you could ask for it.

Another delightful piece of cake. Pound-cake texture, with lavender icing and I think lavender flowers inside...? Dried lavender. I could see them buried inside the cake. There was also a mixture of nuts and dried berries - walnut, pistachio?, cranberry, hazelnut? yeah. Substantial. And true to its name. Worth a try


In order of preference:
1. Lavender Cake
2. Apple and berry cake
3. Chocolate almond cake (really not worth trying - you should go for the chocolate berry cake instead!)

Conclusion:
I will visit again for the Croque monsieur. It looked heavenly - melting cheese and ham, piping hot, crunchy at the sides. Slightly browned on top.

I will come on a leisurely Satruday afternoon when i have absolutely nothing on my agenda... with a small, thin book. I will bask in the sun (if there's any), sip my tea, chew on my toast, and read. And wait for time to pass. That is a luxury all of us need, occasionally.

行中環的小街有唔少surprice,尤其在行人電梯一帶,這間算是既隱世又另一個世界的小小歐洲餅店!入到太子台,己經很有自己天地的感覺,還有間很有外國特色的小店,即時吸引下去,坐坐和影影相!十分適合閒聊大半天的cafe,店主用心營造歐洲小店氣氛,藍色門和街上的椅子,很是喜歡!愛吃甜的,不可不吃店門當眼位的餅櫃裏的歐式西餅,配熱飲,坐在露天坐椅,相當的優閒自得~

i would say its a great place for tea than lunch as there are limited choice on the menu.

with a limited choice, we ordered a croque monsieur ($50) (which everyone else was ordering) and also a tuna toast ($55) . surprisingly the tuna toast was excellent, with lots of tuna, with no sauce or butter (which is perfect!) and some tomatoes with olive oil. the croque monsieur however was very crispy (it was toasted) with melted cheese on top, and only 1 piece of ham and no butter inside... not as good as expected.
the ice chocolate ($35) and the ice lemon tea ($30) was also ok, not sweet at all and nothing special.

i'll definitely go back again for tea, and will try their cakes (around $30-40). they looked yummy and were all freshly made.

看了一會書,食物先來。蛋糕是較扁身的,質感有點像香蕉蛋糕的感覺,不過當然它是沒有香蕉味的。感覺較硬,有咬感,而且是乾身的。表面上有點點糖霜,個人覺得很好吃呢。偶然吃到一小粒梨子,是清甜的,不過大概是太細了,所以味道不算突出。相反,它有很多頗大粒的朱古力滿佈整件蛋糕,朱古力是帶點點苦味,很香且滑,這件蛋糕非常不錯呢。

再來是hazelnut latte,奶泡是有的,不過不是很厚就是了。一喝下去有淡淡的香香的榛子味,但味道不算很重。喝下去算頗滑,咖啡味倒是頗香濃,帶點點苦味。要來送甜品是一個不錯的選擇。

聽到後面的客人大讚它的熱食好味,下次也要來嚐一嚐呢! 吃畢蛋糕,喝畢咖啡,再看畢書籍,心情也便得好起來。下次一定會再來的。=)

, 結果慘遭放棄.

小店「隱世」, 環境十分好 hea, 室內燈光昏暗, 愈坐愈眼(目訓)
唯一唔好就係風扇開得太細, 坐落比較焗; service 十分好, 老闆好有禮貌好友善!

埋單 (唔使加一) 每人約 $83, 都幾貴0下, 不過有機會的話, 相信會再0黎 hea 0下的 -- 0黎呢度飲杯咖啡, 好過去 S 字頭連鎖0卦?

閒日生意都幾好,下午4點左右到達,露天位置客滿,餅櫃只剩蘋果同藍莓蛋糕。2個人點了一杯cascade,一杯parisienne chocolat同一件蘋果蛋作做午茶。cascade用糖水漿做出黎,雖然加上急凍莓莓,但味道有點甜過龍。菜單有巧克力和巴黎巧克力(parisienne chocolat),分別就係前者用可可粉沖調,後者用溶左既朱古力沖調,愛朱古力既我當然就係點巴黎巧克力啦。呢度咁富歐洲情懷,店名又用法文,自然就要點番一個半個跟法國有關的食物或飲品。可惜,完全飲唔出係用朱古力沖調的熱可可囉,同喺屋企用valrhona可可粉加奶沖出黎一樣味道。蘋果蛋糕做得好鬆軟,好好味。去星巴克飲杯咖啡都要30蚊啦,加塊蛋糕又20幾蚊(通常都唔多好味既),不如支持下小店仲好啦。雖然今次點既飲品麻麻地,但蛋糕好味道喎,可能其他飲品做得好D呢。下次再試。
