The baguette with butter was good. Ordered Salmon Papillote ($158) which was so tasteless that I had to ask for salt. The Italian Tartine with chips ($118) was not impressive either, but good mozzarella saved it. Overall the only thing vaguely tasty was the baguette (and maybe the crunchy thin chips), which shouldn't have cost us so much. Definitely not worth the price.

下午茶時間走到灣仔的好處是很多餐廳都有位置。這間餐廳的牆邊滿了各式各樣的酒,不過只是下午茶時間,所以都是不要酒了。選了的食物是三文魚三文治,旁邊配了沙律及薯條。各樣食品都很新鮮,薯條更是即製的,很脆很香。但唯一不太理想的是包,雖然溫度暖,外層又夠脆,但始終這一款包都是比較硬,不太合自己的口味。

Given it is still May, I visited this restaurant to participate in Le French Gourmay and ordered a 2 course set lunch which consisted of Watermelon Gazpacho (cold soup) and Veal Navarin and paid HKD40 for a glass of white wine. The house white was horrible, so I do not recommend you order this but the coffee that came with the lunch set was very good

Main course要等就基本啦,但等大半個鐘就有啲誇張,而且唔算特別。
個飯算係偏乾偏硬,魚帶黎既驚喜都唔算大:魚皮煎香左而魚肉都算滑,但其實都算細舊,而且薄薄的,唔算太吸引。唯一值得推介的係啲汁,非常香既忌廉味,但又唔會heavy,配返偏硬既飯就啱哂。

Next is a plate of Rilettes with toasted bread. The Salmon Rilettes is made with salmon belly. It was creamy, savoury with a lemony finish. The Pork Rilettes had a lovely fragrance. It was very meaty and savoury, also ends with a lemony note. These Rilettes are real addicting! I had spoon after spoon of these. Between the two, I like the pork rilettes more.

The French Fries is directly imported from Belgium. It had a lovely fragrant as truffle salt was sprinkled on the fries. The fries had bold potato flavour and mild truffle taste. Texture wise, it was a but mushy and the edge was not crunchy enough.

This is definitely a dish for blue cheese lovers. The pungent blue cheese was pre-mixed with fresh apples and nuts. The salad was quite lovely, I like how the apples' sweetness balanced the heaviness of the blue cheese.

Grilled Red Mullet Fish Fillet Served with Sweet Pepper Coulis and Fragrant Sultana Rice
My main is a vibrant coloured fish dish. The red mullet was lightly grilled to give a pinkish center. The fish was smooth and succulent but it was rather weak in flavour. The dish was hence lightly seasoned so the fish flavour would not be overpowered by the seasoning. The pepper coulis was a also light sweet sauce, but it did bought up the fish's sweetness. I wish more coulis is given.

The Munster (Bottom left) was a strong cheese with creamy texture. The cumin is a heavenly pair with the cheese which made the cheese more powerful in flavour. The Brie (Bottom middle) was a good Brie with milky and creamy center. It was nutty and a bit acidic too. The Pyrénées Brebis (Bottom right) was a young goat cheese. It was creamy, very milky, savoury and also with a mild sweetness in it. The Selles sur Cher (Top right) is a mature goat cheese which was also milky with an acidic finishes, It was comparatively sweet and had a lovely herbal note as well. The Wasabique (Top left) was a fresh goat cheese infused with wasabi. It was an interesting cheese with a cute mouthfeel, kind of mushy. It was also the most acidic one among the 5s.

Eclair Tagada
The Eclair, as crowned by some of Chez Patrick Deli's customer as the best eclair in town, was truly amazing. I never truly like eclair because I do not particularly like puffs, but this eclair totally changed my perception over puffs! This puff pastry was soft, airy and buttery in taste! The strawberry Chantilly filling was heavenly smooth and fruity. The strawberry chocolate coating carried a mild sweetness. The strawbery looking candy is a cherry flavoured chewy candy from Dalloyau. The eclair really do deserve it's fame!

As expected, the combination of salt and caramel always win the crowd. This chocolate cake was scrumptious! It was rich, creamy and moist, like having a molten chocolate cake. The salt brought up the flavour of the chocolate cake but was not spread evenly.

To be honest, I was not too contended with my choice of entree and main for Chez Patrick new Summer Menu. Don't get me wrong, most of the items are actually very delicious. I basically took a piece of food from everyone else's dishes and love them! So if you are interested in trying Chez Patrick's new summer menu, I would recommend the Prawn & Avocado Tartare for entree and everything but the fish for the main. As for desserts, the eclair for sure!

沙律菜極新鮮爽脆,惜小妹一向不太欣賞帶苦澀味的羅馬生菜。小米則是小妹第一次品嚐,份量超多,十分細粒,外貌似蟹籽、但無蟹籽的鮮味及咬口,軟腍腍、口感似bb食品多d,不甚欣賞。沙律加了醋後,更隱隱帶有酸餿味。太過特別了,不是小妹杯茶。

徒見外形,頗感失望,心底有不詳之感。撥開上層鮮菜,見到紅得耀眼的鮮茄醬,酸甜味、忌廉香及菇香漸漸撲鼻,原來茄醬下有白皓皓的幼滑芝士忌廉醬及點點蘑菇粒,最後見到中空半圓、類以幼細膠管的扁長通心粉夾雜其中。用叉一搯,嘩,雖則芝士味欠奉,但整體味道香濃,酸甜香融於一口,纏綿細遠,回味無窮。吃完,有種幸福温暖的感覺﹗軟熟的通心粉若然再稍硬少少,則會更佳﹗最精采之處,乃是底部焗焦的表皮,脆卜卜又香口﹗

味道恰如外表,平凡無甚特別。炒飯味淡又不夠熱,若落點鹽巴,味道可能已能大大提升了。兩串以照燒形式燒烤的雞胸不過不失,香料醃製的去皮雞胸外層入味,惜內層味淡且燒得較乾身,部份更偏嚡。伴碟的紅黃椒烤得軟腍多汁,惜醬汁較少且偏淡。

一見茶色,已見檸茶之真章也﹗採用普通西式紅茶沖製、味淡又欠茶香,檸檬片亦是普通貨色。絕非佳品,但也不至於難以下嚥。

我地各自要咗個湯加主菜~ 可能今日係平安夜, soup of the day竟然有龍蝦湯! 不過呢個龍蝦湯實在令我地有d失望… 皆因佢味道點飲都十足十罐頭湯一樣, 質地稀, 味道偏鹹而無龍蝦鮮味, 間中仲飲到d蝦殼…
呢個燉牛肉主菜就犀利喇… 我地眼見隔離左右d人都有晒野食但我地都未有…真係跟足法國菜傳統要我地等足45分鐘先上到菜! 呢個牛仔肉已經切好上碟, 見到牛肉色水嫩紅, 咬落肉味濃郁唔韌, 又真係做得唔錯嘅~ 伴菜係燴雜菜, 有d彩椒茄瓜同青瓜粒粒咁, 用上番茄汁去燉煮, 蔬菜質地軟腍帶酸, 可以減低牛肉膩感. 另外仲有少少couscous, 細細粒索埋d牛肉汁有咬口亦更惹味~ 好彩呢個主菜都好食, 唔會浪費我地等咗咁耐!

其實平時好少食gnocchi, 不過set lunch三揀一之下加上對呢度出品都有信心, 於是即管叫嚟試試~ 不過就算係chez patrick都唔可以為呢個gnocchi帶嚟咩驚喜… gnocchi質地煙韌, 配上酸酸甜甜嘅醬汁食亦頗開胃… 但我就懷疑呢個蔬菜汁同個醬其實同個braised beef嘅ratatouille差唔多… 而同時羊奶芝士又好濃味… 但同d gnocchi同番茄醬又唔係好夾, 食多幾粒已經好膩… 迫於無奈食剩咗大半兜…
野飲都係穩陣d叫咗凍檸茶, 但都等咗一陣先嚟~ 茶就係普遍西式紅茶, 味道唔算濃, 檸檬雖然有三片但又唔係話好夠味… 普通啦.

論環境其實呢間chez Patrick deli確實係唔錯嘅… 不過唔知係因為今日平安夜太忙定點, 不論服務同食物都令我地有少少失望… 食一個法式快餐用成2個幾鐘, 當中有成個鐘係用嚟等上菜就更加離譜! 睇在patrick份上, 今次唔洗出到喊面啦~ 不過要再翻食, 可能都要隔番一段冷靜期去冷靜下先.

Galette des Rois, or King’s Pie -
There could possibly be better Galette des Rois in Hong Kong I have no doubts at all, but not many offer individual portions and it’s only $30 for a slice at Chez Patrick Deli. And this year’s pie was better than the one I ate at here last year, which makes it more the recommendable. Chez Patrick Deli will be offering this for a few more days after Epiphany Day, so hurry before it runs out. The pastry was heated up slightly before serving and with a dollop of cream. It was very crispy and flaky with a good butteriness. The one I ate last year was more softer & soggy in comparison. The frangipane stuffing had a great minced almond’s taste and there were also chunky bites of chopped almonds inside… unless I accidentally chewed on the feve bean or the figurine! ~ 9/10

A Parisian favourite for tea or for after dinner with coffee or tea. This was surprisingly well portioned with a Chocolate Mousse, Raspberries Tart and a Floating Island as well as the prestigious imported French Tea. ~ 7/10

I think Chez Patrick has improved as of late?? Hope it wasn’t a once off fluked effort. The desserts and savory offerings look better than before and neater, I actually wondered in my head whether they have recruited another person looking after these sections, or they are just taking time to warm up ! It’s definitely good value for money and recommendable. Let’s monitor them for a little longer..
