Had the day off and decided to have lunch here before checking out Pradasphere. I was given the set lunch menu as that is all they had during lunch hour. It seemed they no longer do the tapas style lunches anymore but just regular lunch. I heard another customer ask what happened to the tapas lunches and the waiter informed that it had been discontinued. Disappointing for that is what I wanted to try. Anyways ... lunch is now $128 and includes bread, choice of soup or salad, choice of main and coffee or tea. Add $20 for dessert.

Before I even decided on what I wanted (probably in fear I'd leave after finding out they no longer do the tapas lunches), a plate of bread with butter and the cicchetti, I assume, was the tomato salsa? Isn't cicchetti supposed to be a little snack?? Anyways, the bread was ok. Nothing to write home about. The salsa was pretty good and very fresh tasting.

I decided on the traditional Andalusan gazpacho and the roast suckling pig in Segovian style.

The gazpacho was lovely. Nice and rich, yet fresh and cool. I liked the addition of croutons to give it a bit of crunch.

Roast suckling pig in Segovian style was ok. The pork skin was crispy but some parts were really hard, almost rock like. The meat was very tender and wonderfully seasoned. The potato tiella was a bit spicy with tart at the same time. I liked it enough. However, the sauce was a complete disappointment as it was a bit bland.

I ordered the coffee and it was absolutely horrible. It tasted like burnt water. I didn't finish it.

The food was ok. There were a few hit and misses but overall not bad. I would have preferred they stuck with the tapas lunch but oh well...Might return if friends wondered where we could eat.

Someone guess who, once mentioned this is not bad in HK context. I have to agree that the price range here is unforeseeably reasonable. Many Tapas, or Chicchetti are in the $48-58 range only.

Self Bringing Your Own Mio Camuzet Bourgogne -

Actually after we arrived here and sat down, before the wait staff mentioned sheepishly, their Liquor License is under review so they cannot serve alcohol again. So I quickly ran downstairs in the midst of summer to ETC nearby to grab an emergency bottle. Have always loved this Wine Producer, even if this particular one is generic Burg stuff.. Just not too sophisticated compared to their other appellation bottles ~ 6.9/10

Iberico Pork Burgers - $68

The taste was ok only, it does have some porky taste but not quite Iberico oily flavor. But looking at the price tag of $68 for 3 burgers, I can’t even complain. It also wasn’t that grilled enough.. My dining Companion mentioned the 22 Ships version is far superior. ~ 6/10

Salted Cod Fish Balls with Piri Piri Sauce – $68

Piri Piri sauce is more Portuguese or African related, but since Spain is a neighboring country I am ok with the concept (as opposed to a Pil Pil sauce which is more Basque-Spain). However the Piri Piri sauce was kind of weakish in recognizable flavours, and to give it the benefit of the doubt probably toned down to locals taste. The death knell sounded when we bit into the so-called Salted Cod Fish croquettes - I could only taste potatoes and non of the Salted Cod fish normally associated with this dish. I know it’s not an expensive dish but I would rather pay more to get a better resulting plate. On a positive side, at least it wasn’t fried oily on the surface ~ 4/10

Grilled Asparagus with Garlicky Piquillo Peppers Butter – $48

The Asparagus came with a judicial amount of sea salt flakes, and came with the Peppery and Garlicky butter on the side which was quite enjoyable and thoughtful, finally a dish which worked and I liked, if not a bit small on portioning. The food here has more potential – you can see the heart in some dishes but may be they are trying to work within restraints of a budget? It is more a Drinks place than for Food or Snacks, but perhaps that is the intention of the owners operating this space and the food were definitely on the lower end of the pricing range as a gesture. But that remains it’s biggest attraction for now in terms of the geographical LKF and SOHO crowd than for the real foodies! It’s definitely not bad vs pricing policy, but each to their own.. It’s more like a Bar personally.

在中環找個寧靜又不多人的地方食個午飯,可真是不容易。上星期行過荷李活道,抬頭看到El Caido,已忍不住想一試,今天找到飯腳一齊試一試。兩個人點了6款tapas,再加pasta of the day (garlic and chili spaghetti)。同事點了crab cake, potato ball and sucking pig,三款都很香口。最欣賞crab cake,蟹肉味濃。我選了蘆筍,croquette and deep fried prawns. 最美味莫於croquette,有別於一般的,非常creamy,又香滑。如果配杯cocktail或sangria ,一定會更好味。

!今晚人多當然來過大size 分甘同味啦!我覺得今次d飯濕左少少,如果再乾身少少就perfect, 但上面的大蝦和青囗很入味!今次我地冇叫甜品,因為已經很飽!反而見到drink list 上有很多cocktails 同mocktails 的選擇,大家都好想試下,其中一杯叫frozen gelleta好好飲!好creamy,我估有少少bailey係裏面,杯面有一塊Oreo 作為裝飾,仲可以食埋添!
另外再試了幾款cocktail,El Caido Lemonade, snow mountain, spicy flamingo, matador, Diablo, 還有barcelona的啤酒,很清新,酒精不會太重,啱晒女仔飲!總括來説,我們一班女朋友在El Caido 渡過了一個輕鬆愉快的晚上!這裡的服務員的態度很friendly,上菜的時間也合理,整體餐廳氣氛唔錯,很多外國人光顧,值得一提的是,這裡連廁所也很大很乾淨,仲放了一些畫和花,連殘廁都有花喔!
在SOHO區,很多餐廳為了加多些枱做生意,通常toilet都好細!但這裡出奇地大!相信El Caido 會成為我地呢班女仔的新落腳點了!

Suckling pig - crispy, juicy and fatty though the portion was a bit small 

Garlic shrimps - it was fried first so the skin was crispy too, tasted fresh and nice, except a bit spicy 
Seafood Paella - the taste was quite rich, with lots of ingredients on it, though I would say it was a bit less moist then the usual paella we tried in other restaurants.

食物方面,打頭陣的是份量十足的The Board ($320),內容豐富包括Iberico Ham 西班牙黑毛豬、Serrano Ham 西班牙山區黑毛豬、Bellota Chorizo 原隻有骨黑毛豬肉腸、Salchichon Iberico 西班牙黑毛豬辣肉腸,要讚每一款都肉味濃郁、油潤好吃,特別是兩款黑毛豬所製的肉腸,帶點煙韌的口感,滋味一流。結果每款都吃了兩件以上。還有Manchego Cheese 西斑牙羊奶芝士,以及Goat Cheese 山羊芝士,它們一款較挺身,一款較軟身,但同樣的酥香吸引,甜魔媽媽很不客氣每樣吃了兩片。

甜魔媽媽兩款都有試,半素的那款蕃茄中的蒜味突出,入口帶點辣;帶火腿的那款則明顯有著更美妙的咸味、芝味、茄味及辣味平衡,味道更上一層樓。所以說要吃素真難啊!!

眾多美食伴紅酒,酒鬼老公也開始飲到醉醺醺了,就改飲另一款Cocktail---這是店方最近在做推廣的Oreo x Bailey's口味特飲,成品的酒精味不重,很讚是Oreo與Bailey's的口味很夾,進口還有淡淡的薄荷清香 (估計用上了Mint口味的Bailey's),香甜和解得來又清新清爽,十分的好飲! 甜魔媽媽也忍不住飲了好幾啖呢~~

總括來說,這裡食物賣相未必及得上其他店子的精緻,但卻做到地道、美味又抵食,實在值得推介給大家! 吃完這頓,老公也說要與其他同事再來再試更多意式的Cicchetti,而甜魔媽媽對於它的$98 set lunch也很感興趣,有機會還要再來!

平日吃這道菜,通常都是吃蝦仔吧,這次換上了虎蝦,又是怎樣呢?
一上桌,已經嗅到了很強的蒜香,說實話,不是人人都喜歡這蒜香的,但我卻樂在其中。而這做法也頗正宗的,虎蝦被油浸著,當中有很多很多的蒜片。有3隻大虎蝦,肉質彈牙,味道充滿蝦香,頗新鮮的;蝦頭不算有太多蝦膏,不過以虎蝦來說也差不多吧。
其實我不太喜歡蝦仔的版本,因為很多時蝦仔都不是很美味;反而這個虎蝦版本的味道不錯。

Roasted Piquillo Pepper Stuffed with Goat Cheese $48
上次在另一間西班牙餐廳吃過後,我對此道菜便念念不忘。很開心在這裡又可以吃到。我是芝士迷,由淡到鹹都喜歡;而這goat cheese,芝士味道頗強勁的,未必人人都喜歡。Goat Cheese味道濃郁之餘,亦很幼滑,吃時不妨把部份的芝士塗在麵包上,然後再沾上少許Garlic Tiger Shrimp 的橄欖油,你會覺得這是人間的美食,當然,這亦很邪惡。

Suckling Pig El Caido Style $75
有一段時間,我很怕sucking pig的,因為吃得太多說得太多亦討論得太多,過了一段時間後,已經不怕了。這裡的sucking pig做得不錯,皮薄而脆,吃時發出脆脆的聲響;肉質軟稔,帶著豬香,當中還帶點油脂,吃時油脂在口中溶化,真的很香很美味;因為有油脂,所以一點也不乾;最怕吃到那種乾白白的sucking pig。

Croquette 是在西班牙餐廳必吃的吧? 其實我吃這個吃得很厭,但又想試試每間餐廳的做法,所以還是繼續吃吧。晚上的 Croquette與午餐的 Croquette分別也頗大的,午餐版的不夠廷身,而晚餐版的則好得多了,件件廷身;炸得香脆,而火腿的鹹度不算很高,吃時沾上pepper sauce,更添美味。

Octopus in Olive Oil & Paprika $75
在香港,想吃到在西班牙的octopus似乎不太易吧? 始終香港未必有太多新鮮的八爪魚。雖然這個味道不錯,比某些餐廳好,但對我來說始終不夠新鮮;而調味方面,雖然都加了不少paprika,但似乎欠缺了些甚麼似的。大多時,這道菜會配上些薯仔的,所以如果有薯仔會更好。

Seafood Paella (Tapas) $90
最後便到Paella,雖然晚上不想吃paella,但我還是想嚐嚐這裡的,畢竟這是轉了menu後新加的菜式。可以我們點的是Tapas份量,始終不是整盤上,所以味道上沒那樣的完美;飯粒不夠硬,但味道上來說還可以接受的,帶些海鮮香;一盤小小的paella,也奉上了一隻大蝦,其實也算不錯吧。
很少會短時間內去同一餐廳兩次,大概是位置十分方便吧,在公司走過去只需數分鐘的路程,而且價錢上亦算合理,比其他中價的西班牙餐廳便宜10-20%左右;雖然相對上便宜,但食物質素卻不遜色,不傷荷包又可以滿足西班牙的癮;加上份量上比較小,可以點數款不同的菜式,滿足我這個花心怪。餐牌上有三十多款的食物,大概還會再來品嚐其他的食物吧。更重要的是,我還未嚐過這裡的churros,很想吃喔。

意粉/沙律和麵包之中,我們都選了意粉,始終意粉比較飽肚,而且我也有興趣看看這裡的意粉是怎樣。本來對這裡的意粉沒太大期望,但想不到蒜味十足,意粉亦al dente,當中還帶點辣,比很多意大利餐廳做得好吃,這實在是意料之外呢。

這裡的Lunch Set Menu是每位食客在8款Tapas中選3款,這天我們3人,本來每人選一款便可試齊9款,但其中一款為雞翼,我對雞翼實在沒甚麼興趣,所以便除了雞翼外,每樣都點了一款和要了兩份Serrano Ham Croquette 和Grab Cakes with Tomato。
Meatballs肉質帶點彈牙,肉味亦濃郁,沒有那種怪味;而蕃茄汁亦很新鮮,非常清新,吃了十分開胃。
Croquette 的形象與平日在其他西班牙餐廳吃的有些不同,沒有那樣的硬身,不是不脆,只是有點不同吧;內裡則同樣都很creamy,火腿味亦濃郁,味道上來說雖然有點twist,但吃上去可不錯的。
crab cake則炸得比較硬身,內裡充滿了蟹肉,帶點輕輕的蟹味。
這款Patata Bravas with Chorizo不是我喜歡的那種,我喜歡那種比較香脆的;這個比較稔,但味道做得不錯,特別喜歡炸後的Chorizo,鹹香度高,非常美味。
Asparagus with Garlicky 則比較一般,露筍不是十分新鮮美味。
Stuffed Piquillo是其中一款我很喜歡的Tapas,當中的芝士味十分濃郁,質感半溶,很美味
Octopus in Olive Oil and Paprika亦令我滿意,撤上了足夠的Paprika,八爪魚亦算彈牙,鮮味亦尚算濃郁。

來之前看過其專業,看到贈送的甜品是Churros,不知道為什麼最後變了Creme Caramel,雖然我喜歡吃creme caramel,但這個我可以自做,churros自己做不到,而且這creme caramel味道一般,不夠creamy,質感比較實,不太喜歡。

最後還有一杯咖啡/茶,咖啡味道亦算不錯,沒有那種苦澀味吧。
整體上來說,食物上做得不錯,每款食物都做得有板有眼,而且店員亦主動幫我們把食物放在同一隻碟上,頗細心的;價錢方面亦算合理,平易近人的價錢,不錯的味道,中環實在不多這種餐廳吧。看過餐廳的晚市餐牌,大部份的食物都只是數十元,實在非常划算;而飲品的價錢亦非常合理,比某些餐廳便宜得多,實在值得一來!

三月廿五日(星期二)粉絲報料,森壽司附近開了一家樓上西班牙菜El Caido再上開飯網看看,當時只有一個食評,但無論價錢或食物相已挺吸引相約朋友了個多星期,終於來到這家西班牙餐廳喇十二時半左右,無訂座的情況下walk-in仍然有位只有兩檯客人,坐了一會就已有約七成滿,當中不少是外籍人士呢我倆坐在窗邊的高櫈,望下去便是荷李活道店子有點侷促,冷氣較微弱,再加上外面陽光照進來,實在有點熱現在的又氣還算可接受的,不過夏天就應該不行了店員送上餐牌,細心地問要冰水還是暖水在這悶熱的情況下,最好當然是一杯冰水喇看看餐牌,午市市套餐$98,包括三款tapas及side dish和飲品價錢方面,以西班牙菜來說是實在是非常抵吃送上法包,先焗過的外脆內軟,配以蒜蓉牛油,挺美味的向來甚少吃餐包的我,也忍不住要吃多幾塊Tapas和side dish一碟上,難道這個是西班牙式的三餸麵嗎?八款可選擇的八款tapas:-Asparagus with GarlickySuckling Pig El Caido StyleHoney Wings with Cumin Lemon & GarlicChorizo & Par

我倆坐在窗邊的高櫈,望下去便是荷李活道
店子有點侷促,冷氣較微弱,再加上外面陽光照進來,實在有點熱
現在的又氣還算可接受的,不過夏天就應該不行了

讚了Tortilla,Crab Cakes,Deep Fried Prawns
三款炸物中,最喜歡的是Tortilla
Tortilla用西班牙風乾腿炮製,外層香脆,餡料充滿咸著
Crab Cakes味道則較一般,蟹肉較少
加入了不少西芹粒,味道完全把蟹肉蓋過
Deep Fried Prawns只有兩隻,不要緊,味道最重要
炸粉略厚,不過蝦肉則十分彈牙爽口
始終,我較為喜歡Tapas中常見的Garlic Prawns喔!

Side Dish有是日Pasta,雜菜沙律和暖麵包供選擇
已吃過這裡的麵包,side dish則選了今日供應的香蒜炒意粉
意粉是al dente,油與蒜的份量恰到好處,吃起來非常香口惹味

最後來的是凍檸茶,茶香也挺濃的
回來看看食評,才知道原來有Churros作為甜品


美中不足,是餐廳的侍者似乎不夠,結脹或是點菜也要花一點耐性喔!

中環食妟食店多不勝數,通常只去光顧地鋪,今次同事推介試下呢間上樓班牙菜餐廳,估不到一試難是忘,店裝修簡約舒服,set lunch$98可有8款菜式中選三款,再配意粉或沙津,一個午餐有:蒜蔥牛油飽,主菜,甜品和飲品,滿足到我的胃口。今次點的mini burger,墨魚圏,spanish padron pepper都好特別,好好味,意粉有濃郁的蒜香味,意粉不會太淋有𡁻頭,沙律也很新鮮,另外點了一個脆卜卜的烤豬仔骨,脆咸香都好正,最後驚喜係呢個甜品「churro」無得彈,外脆內軟,好似中式的沙翁,另外配合點雪糕和朱古力漿一齊食,一冷一熱溶化係口中,令這頓午餐更完美。

The restaurant has just recently opened so not many people know about dining there which was good for us as we could grab a place by the window which has a great view of Hollywood Road. Ordered the Suckling pig, Crabcakes, Serrano Ham Tortilla along with the salad. The food was nicely presented, tasted good. I enjoyed the sucking pig which was very crispy and not too fatty.  Food portions were just about right for lunch so as not to send me into a food coma when I got back to the office.  After
