Went there, hoping to have a decent quick bite on a Friday night.Picture yourself having ordered a Greek Salad... and when it came there was not sight of feta cheese nor olives.Hey.. that's what I got. The so-called Greek Salad was diminutive too. I took it back to the kitchen and they had pity on me. So they gave me my deserved portion of olives and feta. I accounted. I finished it all off in 7 bites. HK$47.Burger was average.No wonder it's never full.

爬上閣樓,發現她只是一間只有三數張高枱的小店子,很有那種歐州速食小店的風格。拿着menu細看,發覺這兒的賣點是可以"build your own burger"。現在香港的burger shop開至成行成市,要殺出一條血路,以此作為一個selling point也未嘗不可。但是日不想諗太多東西,於是只是從signature burgers中選擇了個"Southern Swine",再另加一份最傳统的hotdog便夠吃了.....

所謂的"Southern Swine"實際上是一個bacon cheese hamburger。牛肉用的號稱是100%草飼紐西蘭Angus,肉本身不算很厚,有點嚡口,肉汁也不算做十分之豐盈,質素只是一般;Bacon倒是煎得邊位帶點焦脆,就個人而言,比牛肉本身還要好吃....

醬汁也是犯了跟時下burger shop一樣的毛病,下得太多了,吃得"論盡"之餘,亦不能嘗真肉的鮮味....

Rocket leave只是下了聊聊數條,有點兒吝嗇了吧


包是用了有芝麻的,應該不是home-made的,表皮是不太夠熱且不帶脆,也是普通之極....

Hotdog份量極巨,特別是那條Frankfurt Sausage,真的可算是"潛艇"級數的。不過吃進口總覺燒得不夠香,有點大而無當之感。唯獨較可取的,只是那個質地頗軟熟的包,及蕃茄粒下得夠多而已....

吃至此處,忽然想起第一次還在星街小店Shake'em buns時吃到的驚艷。現在連Shake's也變質了。好的burger shop,何處尋

德國是我享往的國家,愛屋及烏下,我連「漢堡」也愛上,我準備試均香港的「漢堡」專門店(除麥記外),今次輪到GBU。每次都漢堡店,我通常會試試店裡最傳統的burger。餐牌上寫明是新西蘭的安格斯牛肉,漢堡扒厚度是「正常」,不是巨型厚厚的,肉汁也不豐富及有點嚡口,只少起碼食到一陣肉香,比起burgeroon要好得多。再要一個辣肉醬熱狗,又是超級巨型,外層還三片半溶的芝士,入口時很驚訝,麵包腍之餘,那巨型香腸一口咬下去沒有皮開肉裂彈牙口感,也是超級腍,毫無彈性可言,而辣肉醬即不辣也不惹味香口醒胃。每次都burger專門店最開心有milk shake,今次又試試coffee shake,味道有濃香,質地十分稀釋,似是一杯普通的凍咖啡。同意其他食友所言,室內抽風設備十分差,油煙非常之大,吃完後滿身油煙味。

I'll be brief with my review, since I'm going to be reviewing a lot of burgers in Hong Kong because most of them are just overly ordinary to below average.1) Beef patty had good beef taste, despite being too small for the 1/4 pound size. I'll be brief with my review, since I'm going to be reviewing a lot of burgers in Hong Kong because most of them are just overly ordinary to below average.

1) Beef patty had good beef taste, despite being too small for the 1/4 pound size. I know I could have ordered the half pounder but its nearly $100HKD.
The patty is (way) over cooked and too dry, also no chargrill taste, despite having a slight crunchy edge. Seasoning however is just right, with the NZ beef taste coming through just as the Cul-De-Sac NZ patties do.
2) Truffle cream is great not not too much truffle taste. Fair enough, who cares. But its a bit of a false advetisement. Plus, they put in extra mayonnaise to drown the burger even your consent.
3) Loved the choice of tppings and especially cheeses available.
4) Buns. So-so, its actually what I like for a burger, nice and simple, but its not toasted enough, and not buttered. Fine.
5) Bacon. Too dry and yet not crispy, despite being quite fatty. Not very exemplary cooking skills shown here.
6) Price - way way too high, considering the burger is tiny/average sized and the patty is small. Nearly $70. Unbelievable.

Generally I must say I enjoyed the Burger here. Its nearly exactly how it should be, although patty isn't juicy at all. Still, its better than Triple-O for me (which is ultra dry and tasteless, unless you get the Mushroom burger with lots of juice - cheating a bit btw).
Has lots of room for improvement, for the price.

好久沒吃漢堡包,這天中午試試這間上樓新鋪。甫進店已嗅到陣陣油煙,還要對著看似剛被炒魷的收銀員,唉。(圖中那個高科技傳呼機每客人也有,實際用途不詳,不過就幾有趣。)放棄STANDARD類,貪得意自己砌下burger,剔這剔那,再加個芝士薯角和沙律。side green salad($ 35)光看賣相其實麻麻過麻麻,份量極細,只勝在材料新鮮,生菜爽脆;所謂的real mayo不明有幾real,尚可接受。potato wedges with cheddar cheese ($39)雖然芝士都比得幾重手,但奇怪地冇乜芝士味;美國薯仔剛炸起,熱氣非常,當然好吃;如果脆一點會更好。我們的漢堡材料有半磅牛肉、生菜、蕃茄、青瓜、烤蘑菰,都是穩陣之選。整體感覺是可以啦,當然沒有SHAKE'EM BUN咁好食,但亦不過不失。問題是,在中區要吃靚漢堡不太難。不過要$70/person填飽肚子,這間店也能滿足你。

From cheese to toppings and sauces, there are so many choices to choose, and for that extra gourmet factor, you can pay a small price to add that too.

Cheese wise, as not many places serve burgers with blue cheese, here they have three blue cheeses to choose from: Danish blue, Roquefort and Stilton, and if your a pizza lover, there is Italian Mozarella.

The toppings here are also quite different, you can choose baked beans which give it that breakfast tone to it. Personally I chose Portabello mushroom, as the common mushrooms in the far east are button mushrooms and shiitake, not the European stuff. Anyway the portobello mushroom tasted really good, much better than the one at Burger Joint which was sour as if it was drenched in vinegar.

As my burger was lamb I also opted for extra hummus for that meditarranean Kebab experience.

Then finally for my sauces, I picked the ones less served in other places which were Truffle cream and horseradish mayonnaise.

The burger was very neatly done, the toppings, ingredients, sauces were evenly laid out in the bun, makng it easy to eat with your hands.
The only thing that didnt work well, was that I picked too many sauces and toppings, so a bit hard to distinguish the tastes of the different elements. Tasted good overall.
But given so much choice its hard not to save that choice for the next visit.

The only topping that couldnt be ordered was the Calves liver, which is only served in The spotted pig signiature burger. So next time I will try that.

Went to have dinner at this restaurant with my gf ytd night, we ordered a poutine fries, and a avocado egg blue cheese burger. The poutine fries is not very good, the sauce is too watery its soaking the fries making it soft and soggy and the cheese ontop is not much taste at all making it even worse. The burger is also not very good, the beef patty is over cooked, its hard and too burnt on the surface and its not much taste too even with the blue cheese and the dressing. The bun is too thick and its not soft enough, and the dressing is very little and doesnt taste good too. No next time la....

話說今日想食junk food,咁就打算落樓下食burger,本來想去shake em buns,但行過gourmet burger,發覺未食過,咁就去試吓菜。一入到去,成陣油煙味,已經覺得唔係好對路,不過算啦,然後叫咗份薯條同個Burger.等呀等,等咗起碼10分鐘,個burger終於送到我面前。一啖咬落去,嘩,個包中間仲未熱。都算喇,啲牛肉碎到不停咁跌出嚟,咁即係話佢做塊漢堡扒嗰陣已經有問題。食落口,淨係食到茄汁味,塊漢堡一啲都唔juicy,牛肉味又唔香,仲有啲乾添。跟住到戲肉,薯條終於到喇,送到我面前,嘩~好似啲梅菜咁林晒。咁我叫佢哋再整過啦,到第二次都係咁,我同個店員講,我雖然唔係廚師,但都唔會整啲咁嘅薯條比人食囉,我要refund啲錢。咁佢講埋啲廢話咁話,我哋啲薯條唔係frozen薯條...bla bla bla.....我話之你係咪frozen,總之你落鑊炸嗰陣啲油唔夠熱啦。你開舖之前,應該練好啲廚藝先開舖啦,咁我攞番20蚊就走咗。

今天的晚餐是已經經過很多次但都還沒有嘗過的Gourmet Burger Union!!店員的服務態度相當親切~環境也很乾淨輕鬆!我和J在大大的Menu前研究了一下...決定點Southern Swine!我的漢堡很快地作好了!!!上下層麵包應該是因為烤過的關係變得特別香酥!比起大到嚇人的Atomic Betty...我更喜歡這種size的漢堡包啦~拿起來的份量也很剛好~沒有太多"罪惡感"ㄎ~~第一口的感覺相當Juicy..但是又不會因為餡料太多.而不方便吃.裡面的生菜也搭配得適當美味!sidedish是薯條... 不過說實話~薯條就沒有像Atomic Betty那麼好吃了~有點太甜跟太油...樓下的電視牆一直打著Build your own burger的口號~下次再來試試~

Went there for lunch on a Sunday morning. We could smell the grease at the bottom of the stairs! We strongly believe that they should invest in good commercial kitchen exhaust/fume ventilation system. We did not have that kind of experience in other smaller burger joints. The taste of the burger is ok but felt that GBU is overpriced, especially the soft drinks! It would also be nice if they provided paper napkin / serviettes since eating a burger with lots of tomato purée can get quite messy!
