I myself am a bit of a coffee geek and I love a good cup of coffee. As I was in the area, I decided to try out Knockbox coffee company as the reviews were praising the coffee and the food there.
Specialty coffee $60
My wife ordered one of the specialty coffees and one from Brazil. This was for sure a nice cup of coffee, but both of us as heavy coffee drinkers had to agree that this was not worth the money. Sure if the place was in e.g. Central or some other expensive neigbourhood, the price would be acceptable, but in Mong Kok on a side street. Not really.
+ Good taste
- Poor value
All day breakfast $10X
The second letdown of the day was their all day breakfast. There were a few problems with this dish: The mushrooms were cold, bland and rubbery and the sausage was perhaps one of the worst I've enjoyed for breakfast. In addition they had smeared the hash brown with ketchup. There is a reason why ketchup is served separate from the food as some people do not like ketchup on their breakfast. In terms of value, this was a bit better than the coffee, but still not really worth the money.
+ Nothing to mention
- Poor value
- Poor taste
Citrus delight
Definitely the best dish of the day. The waffle was light and airy and the coffee combined with the ice cream was a nice compliment to the slightly lemony waffles. I would have used some other honey though as this was not so good.
+ Light and airy
+ Tasted yummy
- Honey had an odd aftertaste
Overall poor value for money in this part of town.
P.S. Why I rated their hygiene at 2/5 was as I was seated on the counter, I could see that their kitchen had some things that were just plain dirty (Such as their freezer) This was somewhat off putting.
