The service was terrible.  You can imagine why the restaurant is half empty during lunch time and can be booked immediately the day before lunch.  The waitress was extremely impatient and just wanted to get our orders done.  

We'd like to ask a few questions on the menu (types of sushi available in the sushi set) but the waitress couldn't care to explain to us and asked us to think carefully and thoroughly before making an order. Help!?!? This is not a fast food restaurant.  Our plates were collected before we finished our meal and the fruits after meal did not came even we reminded the waiters a few times after our meal...never again...

They sat us on table next to them which was not fair considering it was an empty resturant, so we were not very impressed at all. Also people were smoking on the staircase by the bathroom, I don’t know if they were staff from the resturant but it was not good and when the resturant is so expensive even with discount I would not expect this. However despite all this I would return due to the food quality.

While we enjoyed our meal very much, and thought that the price was very reasonable, there were two things that completely ruined this experience for us.

1. When i arrived at the restaurant, it was FREEZING cold. I'm usually the type to grin and bare this sort of thing but it was really unreasonably cold - especially as I was just coming out of the heat. After sitting there shivering for ten minutes, I called over the waitress and asked her politely if she could possibly turn down the air conditioning. She went and turned it down. However, after she left the room, a woman at another table informed me that she (the waitress) had been mocking me to the other wait staff when she was out of my line of vision. This was EXTREMELY humiliating as I had not even made an unreasonable request?? For your staff to be openly mocking a customer to the point where another customer takes it upon herself to inform another table is really really out of order.

2. The irritating habit of your staff's in which they clean away your dining companions dish as soon as they finish, leaving you to finish your meal on your own. At the end of our meal, while I was still eating, a waitress came and cleared all my boyfriends cutlery and glassware, while I was sitting there halfway into my dish?? I've never seen this happen at this level of restaurant.

I really hope theyaddress these two issues.

和女朋友揀選了這間餐廳是想在午飯時吃好一點,我們被帶到一間房間,內裡大約有六七張枱,到達時只有兩三人,我們叫了兩個套餐,每個套餐都有兩碟菜式加一白飯,還蠻多的。我們叫了吞拿魚拼牛還有鰻魚拼壽司兩個餐,我很喜歡吃吞拿魚,微煙燻加蕃茄配搭上來很好吃,和牛也很易入口即溶般!滑蛋鰻魚也不錯,只是有些洋蒽令我興趣感減了一些,但其實也很好吃的。不過我有一點想投訴,這裡食物都很好,唯一想抱怨的是因為樓底太矮,一點後房間開始多人,有些枱有六七人,他們枱的人只要大聲一點談話,就覺得很嘈雜,聲音困在細小的房間內,耳仔有點不好受。

We also tried a refreshing house salad with assorted sashimi, fresh greens and signature Joe’s sesame dressing; crispy shiso shrimp tempura; and the much loved prime tuna tartare made with an acceptably spicy hot sauce, tempura bits, that is best to be eaten on romaine lettuce.

Things not to be missed at Kyoto Joe are the classic Japanese skewers. My favourites are fatty pork fillet with sweet and sticky teriyaki glaze, the excellent beef fillets that have been seared to medium rare, served with a luscious garlic, onion and wasabi mayo sauce.

Located in the Central area, its a huge restaurant in an upscale building in the party district -LKF.
It has the customary sushi bar with servers greeting you in Japanese. Had heard good reviews from Non- Vegetarian friends, so went with the expectation that at least will find vegetarian sushi.
Surprisingly they have 2 full pages dedicated to vegetarians in the menu. Lots of starters, many variety for sushis and tempuras, soups, udons.
We had the following :
Fried Bean Curd with Black Miso Sauce : Silky tofu fried lightly to have a crispy outer layer with black miso sauce tasted great when eaten with little wasabi and soy. A nice starter to awaken your taste buds.
Mix Veg Sushi : Its one of the best sushis I ever had. Interlaced with raw vegetables it also had something crispy inside which gave it an excellent texture.

Mix Veg Tempura : Was a nice assorted platter of vegetables and tasted nice with spicy tangy mayonnaise sauce. Only the sweet potato was a disappointing vegetable. Mushrooms were great , and if you are fan of the fungus than can have the whole mushroom tempura.
Fried Udon with Vegetables : A nice saucy Japanese noodles stir fried with vegetables tasted good. Again the mushrooms were the highlight. Kyoto Joe sources one of the best mushrooms, so maybe anything which has mushroom would taste good.
At the end they give a complimentary fruit platter consisting watermelon, musk melon , dragon fruit & coconut jelly. A nice touch to end your meal.
Prices are little more than average but its a great option to have vegetarian Japanese food.

I have visited the restaurant many times over the years for lunch, but am only here for dinner for the first time. The manager tells us about a new menu for dinner so we decide to order from it.

(2) Next, the Wagyu beef tataki is served. The Kagoshima prime sirloin is decliately sliced and expertly seared, and the beef instantly melts in the mouth. It is served with a wafu dresshing which helps cut through the fattiness.

I am happy with the new menu at Kyoto Joe this time. Hope they will introduce more new dishes soon!
