同個好朋友係會展行咗成日美食博覽及美酒展、有點累、想搵個地方落腳、食個晚飯。本應灣仔係個好嘅落腳點、因為係最近會展、但正因我哋兩個係會展食咗好多好吃嘅嘢、又飲咗兩杯頂級嘅靚酒。所以、我哋想食一餐「好吃的」。又啱啱好前幾日、我同我呢位好朋友想去Le Fauchon試他們嘅法國菜、但就冇位而失望而回。、所以我哋兩個就去咗中環嘅soho吃呢個法國菜。 好彩、今次是有位的… Anyway, 呢間餐廳嘅格調非常好。好似去咗法國當地嘅百年老餐廳一樣。上座後、又即刻有好幾個人去serve我哋及介紹menu、令我們覺得好warm… 這種服務水準係值得加許的。 食物又如可呢?都可算係十分滿意。首先係頭盆:白汁青口。醬汁很濃、帶了一點白酒令青口嘅海鮮味揮發出來。口感一流 (4.5/5分)Cream of Mushroom: 呢個西湯同個頭盆一樣…十分出式。一個好嘅忌廉湯最重要係夠creamy、濃郁… 呢個湯兩樣都做到。此外、呢個湯加咗碎粒蘑菇、飲起上來更有口感。(4.7/5分)羊扒:煮好嘅羊扒最重要嘅祕訣就係要令到羊扒嘅肉質硬軟適中、香味要帶出。這塊羊扒就正做到這兩點。羊扒到嘅時候、可以聞到在羊扒嘅香草味。當羊扒放進口內咀嚼、這塊羊扒絕對唔會令你覺太硬或太軟… 加上Mint jelly呢個配搭、羊扒質感啱啱好!(4.7/5分)Crème brûlée: 呢個甜品可算係4個菜之中、做得比較失敗嘅一個。要Crème brûlée好食嘅秘訣就係要面頭上個塊糖薄同埋蛋唔可以水汪汪軟軟的。最失敗就係餐廳正做唔到這兩點!!(2.5/5分)** Update:我食完之後、我同個manager講咗呢兩點、而個manager同意我嘅意見、話下次會改進…一個星期後、同我一齊去食呢個晚餐嘅朋友又去多一次本餐廳、點了這個點品、亦同我講話有很大的進步。所以可以加分 (Update: 4/5分)總括黎講、Le Fauchon可算是soho區嘅一間數一數二法國餐廳… 用呢個價錢有這樣嘅環境、服務、及食物都可以話「值」啦!

其實係早2個月既事喇, 當時同男朋友既屋企人去慶祝爸爸節。我同男朋友之前都有去話, 不過就係另一條街既分店。今次叫左2個388既餐, 包2碟鵝肝。我係一個唔鐘意食任何肝臟既人, 所以我本來就唔打算食呢樣野, 不過男朋友同佢家姐都話好好食, 所以我都試左少少。我唔識形容, 不過個味道係好味, 個面係香脆既感覺, 但入面係好滑, 入口即融, 而個汁好好味, 一D都唔似肝臟, 好甘香。可惜我賤骨頭, 食唔慣貴野, 最後都係食左2啖就俾男朋友瓜分左。點知食食下成座大廈停電......結果餐廳請我地食左個鵝肝.....我地就去左第2度食--勁唔好食又貴既地方 。食完之後呢間餐廳既經理就打黎話已經整返好, 叫我地去食個甜品, 有折。我地就返去食左個好好味既心太軟, 同cheese cake....個心太軟真係好香好好味。我地由Le Fauchon開始, 又o係Le Fauchon結束一次咁特別既爸爸節。

I came across recent reviews on Le Fauchon and can't help thinking if this is the same Le Fauchon in 2000 or 2001. It was hailed one of the best French restaurants in town then and they charged 5-star hotel prices for dining a shabby little box. I'm not sure if they still have tables upstairs, but say no if you're offered one -- the 7-ft headroom kinda amplifies the noise a lot and the canteen-like table arrangements are major deal-breakers (for that price). Besides, the only washroom is upstairs. The bright flourescent light from the washroom literally light up the whole place whenever someone opens the washroom door so that throughout a dinner, you experience day and night, night and day for at least 10 times. Talking about over-the-top attentive service, I was waiting for my girlfriend for 30 minutes. Different waiters came and asked if i'm ready to order for at least 5 times during that 30 minutes. This should never happen in any classy restaurant as there should only be one waiter assigned to serve a table. As far as food is concerned, I remember the foie gras was excellent (but it was steeply priced at HK$350 for 2 slices in 2000); I also had a seafood pasta dish which was so-so (but still steeply priced at around HK$300). Waiters did not push us to order wine, but mineral water came in 1.5-liter bottle and was around HK$80 per bottle. They don't provide tap water unless you do it yourself in the washroom.I never ever dined in this place after that because for HK$850 per head, I expect not just good food, but also a whole dining experience which Le Fauchon failed to deliver.By looking at the recent reviews, I guess Le Fauchon has compromised food quality in major ways. And, honestly, you can't expect much from a set dinner at HK$400 in Soho area. But still, if you're celebrating a special occasion, pick somewhere less crowded, and more quiet. It's not one of the place that you'd remember fondly of 10 years later.

一年一度與幾位舊朋友飯聚,我提議去老富昌,打電話去訂位時原來裝修,店員就介紹下一條街的姊妹店Le Fauchon。晚餐是四道菜的選擇,而主要是餐牌裡散叫的選擇,所以叫晚餐較為化算。未食頭盤前先有個welcome food是芝士酥條,但不夠酥香。餐包是明顯是來貨的法飽,由於烘到又熱又脆的關係,所以幾好食,朋友要求再添加。我們一行四人,所叫的每道菜也不同,可以嘗試多款口味。頭盤燒鵪鶉、煎鵝肝、海鮮併盤及燒虎蝦配芒果西柚Salsa。燒鵪鶉-只得細細的半隻,仍可嚼得肉嫩可口;煎鵝肝-我第一次食到全熟的鵝肝,意思是並沒有入口溶化,要經過咀嚼才可以送到胃裡。海鮮併盤-有蠔、蝦、螺等,新鮮度程一般,而螺洗得不夠徹底,細沙多得很。 湯是蘑菇忌廉湯、咖哩蟹肉湯及意大利青瓜忌廉湯。我是蘑菇湯味道非常之濃郁,還有粒粒蘑菇碎,增加口感,飲了半碗已半飽了。我還試了咖哩蟹肉湯,味道似咖哩魚蛋汁。中途有青檸雪芭來過冷河,味道不太酸不太甜,而質地較一般的雪芭重身,入口似gelato的感覺。主菜揀了燒鴨腿、燒羊扒、鮟康魚帶子串燒及燴牛仔肉。大家都認為燒鴨腿最精彩,燒得皮脆肉嫩,皮與內中間保留了少少脂肪,不會過份油膩,增加潤滑感。燴牛仔肉-味道太過似中式炆牛腩,而且肉質好粗糙,差點消化不來。甜品是橙味creme brulee、Tiramisu及蘋果卷。creme brulee味道太甜,而且可能焗時不夠時間,有點水旺旺狀態。Tiramisu味道很香很濃,mascarpone很滑溜香甜;蘋果卷是暖暖的,幸而肉桂味不重,不過外層的酥皮帶點韌,不鬆化。招呼頗親切,就算我們不要餐酒或飲品,也沒有面色給我們。只得食物味道平平,加一後每人$440,有點不值。

公司請食左個商務午餐 $138, 不過可以入會有discount頭盤: 好好好脆法包 濃shrimp soup -有魚子在內, 卜卜脆係咁爆, 真係好好食d魚子 煙三文魚caeser salad - 3文魚幾新鮮main dish: 牛柳 - 無咩特別, 隔離個羊架就好似唔錯甜品: tiramisu - 幾滑, 但蛋糕唔夠濕隔離食法式燉蛋, 個樣幾好讚: 服務態度好, 如果係夜晚的話, 氣氛幾有情調, 但午餐就會好多人黎食, 一定要book彈: 點解咁大間野會冇橙汁飲???
