I am so sad this isn't closer to my home, there is just so much on the menu that I would like to try that I will definitely be making the trip out here again, (maybe I could cross reference the menu with the Wan Chai branch but I think it's different). For new people to this restaurant the service style may be a little confusing but it's basically that two-stop system now operating in McDonald's - you walk in an order from the person sitting behind what looks like a concierge desk and pay then yo

For new people to this restaurant the service style may be a little confusing but it's basically that two-stop system now operating in McDonald's - you walk in an order from the person sitting behind what looks like a concierge desk and pay then you're given a slip and wait for your number to be called. I saw two waiting styles, some people found a seat first and then waited, and some people went straight from ordering to waiting at the collection counter. If you have bags I would advise you to find a seat first so as to avoid having to carry a tray and bags at the same time, I learnt from experience that spillages can happen that way.
I ordered the Laksa with fried cubes (I chose Shanghai noodles, you have a choice of five different noodle styles), and added a coconut milk coffee and apple pie. The laksa was...AMAZING. Granted, I've never had the meat version so I have nothing to grade it against but this dish totally woke me up. The thick, coconutty, spicy broth was just delicious, the flavours were wonderfully balanced and the thickness gave it a really satisfying in-mouth feel. I didn't want to stop eating it, I wanted the bowl to be bottomless (although I suppose luckily it wasn't).
After the show-stopping laksa the apple pie was always going to suffer, and the fact that I've recently had non-vegan apple pie didn't help it. The pastry was tough and the crumble component was ok but nothing exciting. I probably wouldn't choose this cake again but thankfully there is plenty more to try.
On to other things....the location of this restaurant had me stumped for a little as I don't know the mall it's in and (I guess) any posts addressing the location aren't written in English. Once you work it out it's super simple, Plaza II is behind Plaza I, just walk through Plaza I and you can find Loving Hut in the covered courtyard which connects the two buildings. And then the atmosphere...it really does have a fast-food style vibe although the food is way better than your average KFC offering. Definitely worth seeking out if you're in the area.
