Supper after seeing Chinese doctor in Central.Food here still keeps its standard. I had a pineapple fried rice a year ago and the look / taste still the same.For the green chicken curry, it was a bit spicy though. If you want something mild, you may consider other curry.For the minced pork with veg in special sauce, it was nice too.Good for those who only wanna have something to bite instead of having a big meal.

今日約咗個朋友在中環食飯,他介紹了這間泰國菜一起食,在landmark ,間餐廳個入口好特別,表面你看不到個入口,我在門口等了一陣,才發現有道門可自動可以開,所以係呢間餐廳食記得在門口條線應該大你入去。我朋友叫了一個柚子大蝦沙律及冬蔭公湯,個湯好夠熱,一路有火熱住的,同埋味道都不錯,但個柚子大蝦沙律比較細份,味道一般,我個朋友叫佢了我炒我,比較油。兩個人一共食咗$389 ,價錢比較貴,份量也不算大。服務態度,都ok! 建議book位先好去都比較多人。

另外當然還有是日驚喜,生日版的椰子custard配泰式奶茶雪糕。每次製造驚喜都很怕店員不懂配合,今次則店員自動波非常順利!雪糕的奶茶味很出,不過椰子custard的質地我覺得偏硬一點。
雖然價錢有少少貴,但環境不錯,也是慶祝生日的好地方。

I planned to write a detailed review of this place after tasting what must have been the worst Thai food ever but it simply doesn’t warrant the time and effort. Nice decor and decent service but the food! The food!!!! It is a restaurant after all.

總結:我覺得加埋一$330位,食呢啲唔係樣樣都好味既,係有啲貴,不過人地處於landmark地段,無得計🤷🏻‍♀️行開個頭唔知食咩但試無妨。但唔需要特登去試。

Next, we had the starter of "Thod Poh Phia", which is Thai spring rolls with pickled cucumber relish, roasted peanut, and mushrooms sweet chilli sauce on the side. I love these spring rolls dearly. They tasted quite "meaty" indeed. If I weren't told that it's a vegetarian set dinner, I would doubt if it's veggie. Also, the sweet chilli sauce was amazing too! Thai chilli sauce is always the best!

By the time this main was served, I was already 80% full. This curry "Makheua Kaenped Kheaw Wan" is a green curry with smoky grilled eggplant and Thai sweet basil. It was nice, and quite spicy. After trying a bit of it, I decided to pack it and take it away for lunch tomorrow. No food wasted.

This noodles "Phad See Eaw" is another of my favourite in the set. It is wok-fried sen yai (thick fresh rice noodles) with fresh shiitake, Thai asparagus and light soya sauce. It was so delicious that I ate every single bit of noodles and crunchy asparagus on the plate. Thai noodles is just irresistible!

Didn't take a picture of the side "Phad Pak", which is wok-fried morning glory with yellow bean paste and crispy shallot. It doesn't mean that it's not good. It's just than I was too focused eating and forgot to take a picture. It's real good, I finished the whole bowl of morning glory even though I am absolutely not a big fan of veggies.

Dessert - Khao Neaw Ma Muang

Last but the least, which I actually think is the best in the whole set - dessert! This "Khao Neaw Ma Muang" is a mango sticky rice with coconut cream. I am not sure why the sticky rice is blue in colour, but the whole thing was so delicious that this wonder was quickly replaced by savoring of the dessert. Mango was naturally sweet, and its taste was enhanced by the coconut cream. The sticky rice was just sticky enough to make it tasted a bit like mochi. Nom Nom.

Love the fried flat noodle here and I’d say it’s one of the best in town. I ordered a takeaway today, paying the same price, yet the portion is so small that I think it’s only half of the dine in portion! Quite disappointed indeed. Perhaps next time I should only dine in.

The menu has been polished to cater to Westerners and expats, which is fine as I have gotten used to and very much love anglo-adapted Thai. Although I am fond of an occasional, indulgent meal at really authentic Thai restaurants in Kowloon City, there is something agreeable about these newer restaurants that offer more or less consistent quality and cater to a wider spectrum of diets and tastes so that the same restaurant is equally awesome for someone who’s in the mood for a feast on one night and then for a much lighter meal on the next day. That being said, Thai food is Thai food, and this is going to be a greasier-than-average meal regardless of what you order, but the dishes are savory and pleasing, available for takeaway and priced fairly. If you work nearby, the other obvious bonus is its convenience. All in all, Mak Mak is a decent choice for a quick, casual meal in Landmark, perhaps even for a free-flow weekend brunch at $298, with the only downside so far being its choppy service which could make or break an otherwise fine restaurant if diners do not see improvements over time.
