After several reviews and I gave for the try and ordered a large portion of Classic LEAN pastrami with salad, and a glass of Cider. The size is perfect and the rye bread and beef come as warm. l love it 😍, except the bartender not too pay attention on my order so l had to wait for the 2nd making for awhile. This carried a lot of meat and is an America-Jewish dish, which you can also find in Europe and Paris but with a slight twist. This was addictive although slightly salty, and I wished it carried more Cheese Flavors or Sauce too. ~ 7.5/10

I tried Pastrami sandwich in New York and was craving it. Luckily I read that Morty's offers them for a pretty decent price ($108 for regular and $138 for large). My partner and I decided to get a large classic Pastrami and a large Reuben so that we can try both each. Check out the front person preparing our sandwich with the person next to her is cutting a big slab of delicious Pastrami! We requested to cut the sandwich in two and they were happy to oblige. The sandwiches came with fries or salad. We went for 1 each. The fries were shoestring fries and tasted delicious. The salad was fresh but quite average. We were also served a small portion of pickles but since neither of us like pickles, we didnt give that a try. 

The Classic Pastrami was a favourite for both of us. It was delicious. The Reuben was not much different from the Pastrami. I could see the Sauerkraut but it must have been pretty bland since the pastrami meat was all I could taste. Not worth the extra $10 as there was barely much difference in taste. 

The sandwiches are definitely not as large as the one I encountered in the States but that's normal, still enough to fill us both and have some left over - maybe we should've gone for the regular. 

After I had already paid, I realised that they have a happy hour menu with Pastrami slider on it ($68)! I know what I am coming for next time!

Other Info. : I didn't know that you can choose how fatty you want your meat - the people at the restaurant didnt ask either. I would've gone for LEAN, maybe next time.

Went here again and glad the poutine is back to normal and hopefully it stays that way.Had the duck this time and it was thinly sliced and flavourful complimented nicely with the mustard.

Side dish有沙律或薯條, 薯條是手切的, 香糯脆口, 好好吃。另有分開包裝的醃酸瓜, 大喜。
這三文治真好吃, 難怪每一個星期總有一兩天會看到老闆把它買回公司做午餐啦。

Anyway, it's still crazy busy on the weekend. The restaurant seemed to have only four staff members, two on permanent kitchen duty, one bartender, and one server, for the entire crowded restaurant. Whoever is in charge should get that server a raise, because he was simultaneously doing the work of 2-3 servers. Better yet, they should get him a colleague.

Half the restaurant tables were "reserved" when we arrived, but they seated us at a "reserved" table, and they seated others as well, who never claimed to have a booking. So I don't know if some big group just pulled a know show or if they put up "reserved" signs just in case they want to refuse you seating for some reason.

According to their website, "Morty’s serves classic and specialty deli sandwiches made with premium cuts of meat that have been smoked in-house, fresh in-house baked bread daily, house-pickled veggies, salads, poutine, gluten-free sauces and dressings, pressed juices, smoothies, full range of cocktails, draught beers, craft beers and proudly serving Elephant Grounds coffee."

The Landmark website elaborates: "Some think Jewish Deli when they hear delicatessen, but we consider ourselves an 'Far East Deli' offering Jewish and classic deli favorites."

The non-alcoholic portion of the beverage menu was atrocious: it mostly consisted of sodas (coke, sprite, etc.) and the iced tea was... Arizona, which is absolutely disgusting, and I'm from Texas and like sweet tea. The only thing that struck me as acceptable was this Fever Tree ginger ale, which was actually good. Still, it's a small bottle (and $26) and I had to order two to wash the food down.

The menu includes smoked chicken, smoked duck, and smoked turkey sandwiches. I'm not really big on smoked things, especially smoked fowl, but I do like pastrami. The two pastrami sandwiches are:

Reuben: "Our Slow Smoked Pastrami, Swiss Cheese, Thousand Island Dressing & Sauerkraut on House Rye" ($118 regular, $148 large)

Classic Pastrami: "Hand-Cut Lean, Medium or Fatty Beef Brisket, Traditional Yellow Mustard on House Rye" ($108 regular, $138 large)

I chose the Reuben. The classic is enticing, because you can pick the fatty pastrami, but it doesn't come with cheese or sauerkraut. The menu says you can add cheese, but not sauerkraut. There's mustard at the table, so I declined the Thousand Island and just went with table mustard.

First things first: the sandwich looks enormous, with giant piles of pastrami, but that's a little bit misleading as it's all deceptively piled in the front. I mean, look at the bread slice on the left: it's sitting at greater than a 45-degree angle. So the sandwich needs rearranging.

It's helped in rearranging because the cheese is unmelted, and thus not stuck to the bread. This is not exactly a good thing. Additionally, the bread is overmuch: both my wife and I removed the middle slice to get something that had a better meat-to-bread ratio.

After re-jiggering the sandwich, I had something pretty decent. The pastrami is really good. Someone online said the rye wasn't all that, but I'm not a big fan of caraway and I definitely noticed the taste here. If it looks from the picture like there isn't any sauerkraut it's because, effectively, there isn't. There's not a lot of it and you can't taste it.

At the end, it's good pastrami. The rest is fairly questionable. I thought the fries were fine though. Nice and crisp, served hot, and they give you a ton.

On the side we got coleslaw ($28). I was expecting a mayonnaise-based coleslaw but it was in an oil and vinegar dressing and was pretty good. I recommend this as a veggie option with your meal.

Look, we live in Hong Kong. There is not now nor will there ever be an authentic New York deli here. Not one that you or I can go to. The Jewish Community Center with a deli won't let you in unless you're provably (yes! they'll quiz you!) Jewish. Sometimes one has pastrami cravings, and at those times one has to settle. I can settle for this. It's good pastrami. But it is settling.
Other Info. : I rated "service" low but it is NOT the server's fault! Whoever manages this place should be fired and replaced with someone who knows how to hire sufficiently many servers to actually run the joint.
