If you like Viet food, this is the place to go. But if you value service, you may need to think twice.
Food is cheap, especially considering the area the restaurant is in.
But service is a big problem. I had two unpleasant experiences , but only decided to publicise it after the second one, which happened yesterday.
I have been to this restaurant for about 5 times. My first bad experience is that I saw a young cockroach crawling from under the table surface. I was stunned and moved away immediately. The owner (the man i think who is the owner) quickly came and caught it with his hands. Our table is not cleaned and there was no apology.
Yesterday, we decided to visit the shop again because the food is really good, despite the cockroach experience. I ordered a noodle with chicken wings, which are served separately on another dish. When the owner (the same man who caught the cockroach last time) received the dish from the kitchen window, he dropped 2 out of the 3 wings onto the counter top. Then he put them back and brought the dish to us. We demanded that the wings be changed. He argued that the counter top was clean and asked us to inspect it ourselves. He made a special mention that his hand was burnt by the wings when the accident happened. We insisted and he changed it for us. Again, no apologies at all. The counter top may be clean, but his hands probably aren't.
Overall the food is good. If you could ignore the not-so-hygienic part of this restaurant, I highly recommend it. I also believe the good taste of the food is what makes it possible for it to survive despite the level of service it offered. If only the service can be improved, it would be a top-quality eatery in the district.
