I had purchased a group coupon dine-in 4-course dinner set for 4 people for my friends and I to enjoy as Christmas celebration. I had been a huge fan of T.G.I.F. since living in Los Angeles for many years and thought I'd take my friends there to try out their food and drinks.
First off, we had ordered some cocktails while waiting for our other friends to arrive. The drinks tasted quite average, but was served in a small Hoegaarden glass and did not look too appealing at all.
After our friends had arrived we ordered our dinner sets and was served quickly with bowls of lukewarm (almost to room temperature) watered-down clam chowder. I could already tell that the soup was from can as the potatoes (or all other solid ingredients) were kept to the bare minimum. After our soup was done, we were served with some very bland Caesar salad. I'm not sure if the salad deserves being called with a name, as it was just simply a few pieces of rough, tasteless chicken on top of some lettuce which seemed like it was from ready packed salad from supermarkets. Salad dressing was again, watered-down, if you can even spot any of it.
We had ordered one of each main course from the 4 available, JD Steak, JD Ribs, Shrimp & Beef and Roasted Chicken & Shrimp, which none of them seemed freshly off the grill/stove/fryer/oven. They were all very close to room temperature and did not taste good at all. The JD sauce from steak and ribs were both very thin and watery, and way too sweet. Everything was basically unappetizing and we couldn't believe we were being served this kind of food for the money we had paid ($800 for 4 person). I had thought maybe it was due to the whole coupon thing and they had to cut quality of food to yield but in fact we had ordered a chicken bruschetta pasta and chicken quesadilla which was outside from our coupon, and those did not surprise me either.
After the main course I was feeling disappointed in the food, but still hoped for the brownie and ice cream, which I thought, could not possibly go wrong. We waited about 20 minutes and still nothing has arrived though our plates have been cleared. Attitudes from servers and manager was not great. The desserts came with spoons still wet from the dishwasher.
Finishing off, our bill came up to $826 plus $800 from group coupon, which was a total of $1626 for an unsatisfying meal. It certainly does not come anything close to other T.G.I.F's in the U.S. or anything like what it states on the group coupon site, "Awesome American 4-course Dinner." Never will I dine here again.
