最近,見到食友的食評才得知位於半山有間新餐廳 The Den! 反正,上星期六未想到去哪裡食 lunch,一於搭地鐵去西營盤一趟! 自從3月29日西營盤地鐵站通車後,方便了當地居民! 幸好,餐廳方面在 Openrice 註明西營盤地鐵站 Exit C,一走出出口,正是般咸道,見到曾幫襯過的 <秋櫻屋>,向右行直至經過 Q 房網,在東亞銀行位置過馬路,有三條分叉馬路,走到中間那條小徑!沿途左手邊是聖士堤反女子中學,   行上去便找到!由地鐵站行過去約 3分鐘行程!若非店子門口掛上招牌,我恐怕要由街頭行到街尾嘞!白色底色的招牌配合紅色字及黑色字,都幾 Sharp!  好讓途人注目! 這間小店以家庭式經營,倍感温韾! 不需要華麗的裝潢,簡單舒適不花巧,感覺悠閒輕鬆!  加上店內播放英文歌寧舍抒情寫意! 香港人爸爸是大廚,混血兒女女則負責樓面,兩者親力親為,有時連老闆娘的女女也會幫手,三代同堂合作無間!  他們曾在新西蘭居住多年,回流香港後,他烹調的西餐也著重健康為主!會有別於其他餐廳的做法!採用急凍食材,部份由新西蘭入口! 恰巧,我食到尾聲之際,他們剛剛開一

 他們曾在新西蘭居住多年,回流香港後,他烹調的西餐也著重健康為主!會有別於其他餐廳的做法!採用急凍食材,部份由新西蘭入口! 恰巧,我食到尾聲之際,他們剛剛開一盒新鮮運到的龍蝦,還放上我的桌子,真是很生猛呀!
 連老闆娘也被嚇一跳!還是交由老闆爸爸動手吧!

急凍的魚柳卻不會比新鮮魚遜色得多少,聽老闆講原條魚新鮮急凍,把魚質及鮮味保留!
 簡單以鹽及黑椒粉提升味道,足以帶出鮮味!令我食得滋味無窮!

之所以我選擇這道菜的原因之一是配上藜麥沙律,
 坊間的藜麥可分為原色藜麥、紅藜麥及黑藜麥三種,藜麥本身被視為有機穀類,包含胺基酸、鎂、鐵、鋅、鈣等礦物質...等營養含量高!
 紅藜麥及黑藜麥纖維比原色藜麥更豐富!而且容易飽肚!


店方的藜麥沙律混合了色彩繽紛而口感清爽的彩椒及鬆脆富嚼勁的葵花籽,充滿口感!
 加上廚師老闆把碟子弄熱,嚐起來的沙律帶微溫,好像 warm salad!
 就算魚柳不配飯/ 意粉/ 薯菜,配上藜麥沙律一樣夠飽肚!而且有益健康!

橙汁混合西柚汁,成品帶點粉紅色很迷人!我也急不及待喝一口嚐試味道!橙汁本身酸甜,而西柚汁是酸中帶澀,兩者起來互補不足!
 橙汁起了中和西柚汁酸澀的作用,入口不算甜!清新醒胃!
 西柚汁有助消化,纖維也不少!

這份蘋果金寶,旁邊是一球淋上朱古力醬的雲呢拿雪糕;蘋果金寶表面鋪滿溫熱的脆粒,還加入健康元素的燕麥,焗至金黃香脆,
 然而可減低一點罪惡感!
內裡放滿份量充足的蘋果粒及提子乾,帶有玉桂及丁香的香甜,跟蘋果好夾!
雲呢拿雪糕與朱古力醬混為一體,無敵的組合!

If you grew up in the UK, a den is a hiding place that could be a treehouse or a place to hide in the garden.It is always fun going there with close friends and building it from scratch with twigs, pieces of wood and whatever you can find.This was the reason I was attracted to this newly opened DEN in Sai Ying Pun.It didn’t look exactly like a DEN but the path leading there certainly felt like one because it was a small quiet road with trees on one side.Travelling to THE DEN was more convenient

Travelling to THE DEN was more convenient than I expected because I was dreading the walk from SYP MTR station but exit C is the shortest path and the elevator was fast.

When you get out of exit C, your almost there, you cross the road and the take the small uphill road adjacent to St Stephens college and your there.

The menu consists of steaks, comfort food and home made desserts.

I know that this place specializes in steaks but there were a few irresistible items I had to order, so steaks and dessert shall be items on my next visit.

My friend started off with grapefruit soda which I was expecting from the can or bottle but it was freshly made!!!!!!!!

First, the grapefruit juice was freshly squeezed into a glass and tonic water was added to give it the fizz resulting in a pretty glass of grapefruit soda with a lovely pink foam cap on top.

Both sodas tasted natrual and were thirst quenching.

For food, we had the beef cubes, fish pie, mash, bacon and egg butty and the portions were huge.

To start we had the beef cubes which were a good way of trying out their beef.
Indeed each piece of beef was juicy and tender so I am convinced to try their Wagyu tenderloin next time when I have a beef craving.
There was a side of black pepper sauce that was homemade which had a strong peppery taste but the beef was really tasty on its own that it didn’t really need anything else.

Typical fish pies have a mashed potato top but here they have used puff pastry and you get a side of thick cut fries seasoned with salt and pepper.
The fish pie is slightly runny so that you can dip your chips and it is loaded with fish, prawns, crabsticks and clams.

As a massive fan of wagyu steak, i had to check this place out. I was not disappointed. The steak was the best i have had in HK. We started off the dinner with appertizers, had some of their fish bites, which were like miniture battered fish (like in a fish and chip shop), and the batter was really light and crispy. And then onto the main course. The steak. I ordered the Fillet Mignon, and got to choose the size of steak I wanted from their selection. It was about 450grams/15ounces. My daughter had the tenderloin, her steak was about 350grams/12ounces.
Both steaks were so incredibly tender. This really was melt in the mouth stuff.
If you are a steak fan, and frequent the other high end steak restaurants in HK. Then for quality of steak, this place is absolutely towards the top. But their price is the cheapest i have ever seen.

Other Info. : When looking for the restaurant on Google maps, just search for Oaklands Path, search for 8 Oaklands Path, Google gets it wrong.

A delicious, friendly new restaurant just steps away from the new Sai Ying Pun MTR.  The seafood pie was generous and yummy.  The well-prepared steak was big enough to share and the hoki fish with guinoa salad was also genrous and flavorful.  Shared sides of mash, chips,and grilled mushrooms were also good.  We shared desserts and liked all of our choices - caramel slice, brownie and ice cream, creme brulee and lemon crepe.
