“偷得浮生半日閒”, 這事情, 我懂! 但試問又有多少營營役役的香港人可有半人之閒呢? 這事情大概我也很難做得到! 不過我覺得這句的重點卻是整整的一個“偷”字。好端端的總是騰不出空檔, 而閒日就是“偷”來一個悠閒下午。就是這樣的一個下午應朋友之邀到西環去吃個午飯, 聊聊近況。知道近期西環海邊附近沿路開了不少新店, 風格感覺歐西而清靜, 也有意到來一試如果。朋友所約之地在舊一截的海旁街近荷蘭街交界。初以為餐廳只是些歐式小店似的, 誰知一到荷蘭街上卻如銀行分行鋪面的一個轉角餐店。餐廳半開放式設計, 有高枱櫈的半酒吧式設計, 也有餐廳式的基本桌椅。可是有趣的是這樣只有一到兩張可容納10人至12人的大長枱, 其他的基本都是4-6人的小組中枱。開放式廚房設定, 廚房內滿鋪不同工作的廚師們, 煎炒炆炸焗燴煮, 全都在這裡。就連餐廳要用的麵粉皮也是自家製的! 朋友告訴我這店是以時尚紐約形式做菜, 悠閒的周五六日, 與三兩知己輕輕的呷著酒, 邊喝邊來點小碟菜式, 一人一手一件, 來喝喝酒, 好不快! 雖說是歐西改良美式菜, 份量轉輕巧, 還能吃下不同菜式來試試。先從飲品入手, 餐廳除酒之外也有不少非

先從飲品入手, 餐廳除酒之外也有不少非酒精類飲料選擇。平日偷來的下午, 還是乖乖的不喝酒好一點。結果要了個朱古力奶昔, 奶昔也是餐廳自家鮮打, 奶泡不少而且入口順滑, 並不如一眾又腍又稠的奶昔。這個卻是來得較輕, 朱古力強苦味不強, 但奶香十足。其實除了這些奶昔之外, 見朋友喝著的芒果smoothies也覺不錯。

先來個小食前菜過過口癮! 這個薄脆看似如墨西哥Nachos的東西, 其實內有乾坤! 一般食店酒吧的Nachos是用上炸的粟米片, 加上配料與芝士焗成。而這個小吃卻是用上餐廳自家壓的麵粉皮, 摺成角狀再入爐烘焗。論脆口, 當然是Tacos粟米片強一點, 但這個也不差。可是, 味道卻是來得清淡而不膩口, 口中沒有一層層的油味, 但有麵粉淡香, 角邊焦脆香口。汁醬上, 一是傳統的牛油果為基的醬, 加上少許檸檬汁及香草, 口感飽滿但不膩。另一個卻更怡人, 是以西柚及無花果打成醬, 汁醬帶酸但與脆餅配搭極好!!

再來一個菜式, 又是健康怡人。紅菜頭, 相信不少人也知道它的健康功效, 但個人往往不太喜好其味道, 感覺好像有點腥腥瀝瀝的味道。當然, 吃一兩件我絕不介意, 但吃後又覺得比平時吃的味道不同。腥瀝瀝的味道沒有了, 口中味濃, 口感淋香, 尾段有點甜味, 感覺很好。問問店中人員, 他們解釋這個紅菜頭先是燒香至外層焦, 激發其成熟甜香。之後將外面焦燶的皮批掉, 切成件放盤, 所以菜頭內肉軟腍而有甜香。原來這樣一味也有其做功巧手!

試完兩味, 對餐廳出品有點信心, 想再下一城, 點來一個魷魚菜式。餐廳將魷魚燒好, 切成件之後混上油及沙律。最重要還在下面放有一個如Gaspacho般的蕃茄蓉汁, 令魷魚香而腍韌的質感中加進涼快而清爽的平衡。

在邊談邊吃的時間, 不經不覺又吃了幾個菜。但因都是幾個人分享, 菜式小巧, 一人一件甚方便。這個南瓜芝士香草餅也算不錯。以烘烤過的麥包片墊底, 中層是軟滑的水牛芝士, 上層是南瓜蓉與香草。

同樣道理, 將南瓜大火烘烤, 將其甜香迫出, 然後去掉燶層, 將內肉啄成泥再混入香草。南瓜肉軟而甜, 一絲絲組織纖維混成一團, 配軟滑芝士甚配合, 感覺不錯。唯一覺得麥包片硬了一點。

接下來的是個擁有濃厚東方味道的菜式, 餐廳用上街市新鮮抓來的大蝦, 以水煮後去殼, 混合上混製的酸香辣醬料。醬汁用上如泰式“是拉差”的甜酸辣味道, 加上紅蔥, 香蒜, 蝦米等配料。味道如是拉差, 貌似XO醬, 但感覺如馬拉盞。味道香濃惹味, 能將蝦中味道提升, 配合沙律也是不錯。不過我覺口中還差了一個鮮, 如以大蝦蝦頭膏燒香混入汁醬相信應可更好。

東方色彩又豈止一個! 這個East meet West的組合用上西餐常用的Brussel Sprout水煮後切成兩半, 表面用上糖焗成焦糖, 然後拌上以花生碎。味道相對清淡, 焦香味道強中帶點點微苦澀, 蔬菜鮮香而有嚼勁, 效果佳。

以近飽才入正題, 朋友的確含強大食量。赫見餐牌上所示的Burger, 心想美式漢堡, 不要如山般高吧! 正在遑恐怎樣處理掉之際, 上桌卻是來個如日式夾餅般的麵包漢堡。一兩口一個, 不難處理。

原來餐廳之上也有不少漢堡餡料, 晚飯時間選擇多一點。而午市時間, 餐廳就在晚市餐牌中挑兩個到午市供應, 每月換一次。而這次朋友點的是一個牛面頰肉的漢堡, 入口鬆化如風, 一陣油香於口, 軟滑而留香。原來餐廳先以slow cook的方面將牛面頰肥瘦相間的肉質組織鬆開, 再以汁醬餵起入味鬆化。表層加上兩片子薑令口味清爽, 夾在包中, 是味覺的大享受!!!

之後再來一個薄餅, 餅底焗得脆身, 但中間口感略硬。表面放上吞拿魚刺身粒, 飛魚子及三文魚籽, 還有紫菜絲,甚具和式風味。吞拿魚應先是以醋拌過, 以防變色, 但味道卻帶點酸爽。飛魚子與三文魚籽混合, 口中有鮮, 也有卜卜脆口, 與吞拿魚混入鮮上加鮮! 刺身與薄餅混合是過不錯的點子, 但是卻忽略了吞拿魚刺身會有出水的可能, 將薄餅的脆口感淋化, 吃到後來問題更明顯。這個是唯一失望一點的菜式。

但是甜品部分卻是無懈可擊。甜品盤中傳統的butterscotch cake, 有玉桂甜香, 香料味道出眾。忌廉夾心的脆餅卻是香軟滑脆的大匯集。以芒果為餡的軟心酥餅卻又是個一流的經典, 中間還夾雜不是清涼可口的雪糕。這個甜品真的很不錯。唯一朋友說以半截筷子叉進的脆皮朱古力球, 卻可能因筷子刺插到手的可能, 其他就不用多說了!!

估不到這樣的一個地區能有如斯安逸的餐店, 感覺十分舒服, 相信周六日有時間也找找朋友再來吃吃喝喝!!

So, do they expect my daughter to sit on my lap throughout the meal?  Tivo is supposedly a restaurant (not a cheap one) and not a 茶餐廳! And for the price they charge, how can they arrange their customers to be seated in such a manner?  We tried to explain to them that my daughter need a seat, but they refuse to listen.  We got pretty upset and angry as they are obviously kids/babies unfriendly and don't seems to welcome them at all!   
The worst is yet to be. Instead of trying to get us another table or offer some solutions, they told us to LEAVE since we are not happy. 
I'll never eat at that restaurant, no matter how good their food is.

I had noticed the recently opened Tivo in Kennedy town over the last couple of weeks and decided today, being a public holiday, would be a great opportunity to give it a try by taking my mom to try their Brunch menu.

I had also noticed previously that with their large open french doors, alot of customers previously sat by the edge with their dogs, so thought it would a great opportunity to dine with my dog at a potentially new dog friendly midday eatery.

Upon the second I set foot in the restaraunt I was confronted by a large western member of the staff (possibly the manager or maitre d). When asked if we could sit by the french doors with our dog we were met with a very stern, aggresive and absolutely non-welcoming response from this member of staff stipulating absolutely no dogs allowed inside. I understood this, and indicated my dog would be sat outside, much like I have seen many previous customers do in the past and was again given further warnings about the dog stepping a foot inside the restaraunt. 

We took our seats and this member of staff did not greet us any further and in fact welcome us in any way. It was as if we had insulted him. He did not speak to us for the rest of our meal - this opening exchange left a very sour taste for me and my mum, before we had even eaten. I understand no dogs are allowed on premises, but a more reasonable and welcoming tone would have been more helpful.

We ordered our food which arrived quickly. My margarita pizza tasted good, yet was very small. My mom's scrambled eggs and salmon was also fairly good, but not great. Our flat whites were not really flat whites. The frothed milk was not velvety, in fact it barely had any froth ontop and the coffee tasted bland. 

The lady who served us, was on the other hand very friendly, attentive and helpful. However, the member of staff who greeted us in the manner he did the very moment we first stepped into Tivo left a lasting first impression which will no doubt result in me never setting foot in the place ever again.

是日往西環探朋友,順道晚餐。由於最近經常中式晚餐,所以今晚想試食西式。上open rice 搜尋附近西餐廳,見到tivo 所以試一下。試完非常後悔,牛扒肉質鞋,乾,無肉汁,配牛扒個汁唔知係咪燒汁,因為完全無味,燒汁沒有牛骨香味。其他菜式都是淡而無味,本人未食過地中海菜,我唔知道呢啲是否地中海菜味道的特色,因為全部淡而無味,不過我諗此餐廳的味道香港人一定不合適。不過值得一讚是餐廳的侍應好nice 好有禮貌介紹餐廳內食品及飲品。

Most commonly, red beets are broiled or steamed or used in a juice diet for it is an exceptional super healthy food that's filled with manganese and folate. Don't be afraid of it's color, it's great for keeping heart disease and certain cancers such as colon cancer. This dish is different in the sense that it was slowly roasted, keeping in the rich and sweet flavors of the garden beets. Eat every bite with the sesame piece of cookie and what seemed to be a light cream and it's heavenly.

For some reason, growing up in a chinese household, I never ate much brussel sprouts. It was always the usual chinese veges like "gai choy, bok choy, anything you can put before the word choy" however after growing up and having the freedom to try other varieties of "choys", I fell in love with the brussel sprout. For those that cook this, we all know that it takes a bit of practice to perfect. It's very easy to undercook this little guy. You need the right temperature to brown it enough to give it that slight burnt taste because it balances the o-so nuttiness natural flavor of the vegetable but you don't want it overcooked because then it's just mushy. This dish was enhanced with hazelnuts which made it even more nutty in flavor. Honestly I would recomend a different type of nut to sprinkle on top, or no nuts, because black peppercorns go very well with brussel sprouts. Overall, I thought the sprouts were cooked well, you can tell by the color in the picture that the brown is very even and it wasn't overcooked so the leaves were shedding or wilting/folding over. Give this dish a try if you are a brussel lover.

Doesn't this remind you of the peking duck bun? My original thought was, if you've got the creative guts to try to imitate a dish that is already so delicious and well established, you better know what you're doing. This chef knew his stuff. This beef cheek was meltingly tender and I can eat this when I'm 93 years old when I have no teeth. Drizzle some of the hot sauce it comes with and some of the special brown sauce that looks like a gravy and it's good to go. I liked that it wasn't the usual hoisin sauce because it would taste too much like the original peking duck. The only thing I'd want to change about this dish is perhaps adding just a little bit of a certain green vegetable to it because it's missing the crunch that a peking duck skin would add to it.

This is a unique type of pizza you won't find at no pizza hut. I still don't think that raw foods being put on warm bread is a good combo, especially fish because it cooks so easily. Making this a very difficult lukewarm dish to prepare. The ginger sauce for this was a bit over the top and strong for my taste.

Of all these desserts, the mango one is the bomb. It's like eating a light puffy eggroll with juicy toothsome ripe mangoes inbetween some cream. The brownie pop was rich and dense, but aren't all brownies? 

In conclusion: In conclusion, I felt that a lot of thought and effort went into the dishes prepped by the chefs here. The keyword was balance here. No dish was ever one sided (besides the brussel sprouts) and many different culinary techniques were applied to each dish- baking, braising, roasting, pureeing, browning, pickling. The staff here is quiet attentive and as a bonus, their bathroom doors are pretty cool- check them out below!

這家新開的TIVO吃的是各式各樣的歐陸及美國菜, 餐廳地方非常寬敞而且設計也甚有特色, 內裡的吊燈居然是用上了小時候在街市看到用來照雞蛋的大紅燈罩, 但又配著感覺新派的鐵椅和木桌, 實行中西合壁. 餐廳其實亦較為開揚, 一邊的是酒吧部份, 而另一邊是用餐區, 日間陽光映照進來時更顯得地方格外明亮. 眼看來光顧的大都是外藉人士, 而且經過的路人也不多, 大家都是悠閒的喝著啤酒聽音樂或是聊天, 有點像在郊遊的感覺.
雖然是假日, 但中午來到還不想沾酒精, 就點些比較健康的SMOOTHIES 和奶昔 (各HK$50) 吧

這裡提供的SMOOTHIES口味都幾多, 有香蕉, 芒果, 士多啤梨, 藍莓, 樹莓及什莓等. 而奶昔也有朱古力, 雲尼拿, 士多啤梨或什莓等等. 上來時原來一杯非常大, 宅女要了朱古力奶昔, 喝起來朱古力味就似乎沒太突出, 反而奶脂味幾豐富, 不過勝在甜度不高, 難得喝的是朱古力喝了大半杯都不會很漏, 感覺會健康一點吧~

先來個小吃開開胃吧. 要點個可以幾個人來分, 又可以隨意一點的小食, TORTILLA CHIPS便是最好的選擇. 說真的要做合格的TORTILLA CHIPS不難, 沾的那個醬才是精髓所在. 所以這裡的大廚也特別重視這兩個醬, 其中那個牛油果醬更是自家用新鮮牛油果來做成蓉, 入口質感比一般的醬都更濃稠, 牛油果味更香. 不過愛重口味如宅女的話, 反而更愛旁邊那個非常濃郁的蕃茄醬, 酸酸甜甜的更開胃.

再來一個沙律, 用上幾顆BB墨魚加上蕃茄汁, 沙律菜和蔥花等等, 食材雖然簡單, 但入口味道相當豐富, 墨魚雖然迷你不過十分厚肉, 咬下去甚為柔軟, 跟爽口的沙律菜和醬汁同吃口感更添豐厚.

一向很喜歡吃小甘藍菜, 不過坊間常吃到的多只是以簡單方法灼煮後作伴碟用, 每次只能吃2-3顆完全不夠喉. 但這裡的居然可以一整碟上來全都是小甘藍菜!! 大廚用了榛子加上芥末等做成墊底的醬汁, 把略烤過的小甘藍菜切半的放在上方, 入口菜葉層次分明帶著點點焦香, 口感爽脆, 如喜歡口感再豐厚一點的不妨沾多點醬汁, 帶點甜辣感. 單單一個素菜都可以做到味道這麼豐富, 實在不錯.

以為這裡吃的是普通小吃或麵食, 想不到原來店方也有一道招牌海鮮! 這個大蝦是大廚每天新鮮購自石塘咀街市, 蝦肉非常巨型, 再配上用蝦米, 蒜等炒成的辣汁, 入口蝦肉真的非常厚身又夠彈牙, 味道帶點微辣香口非常惹味, 更意想不到的是原來中西兩種不同的蝦, 出來的食味是這樣夾的, 完全擦出了不一樣的火花.

近期台式食品開始在本港又熱了起來, 其中刈包更是少見又有特色的台灣食品. 想不到這家吃西餐的也有兩款像刈包的食品, 不過內裡的餡料就以西式煮法來泡製, 也來個西台CROSSOVER! 先來的是這款慢煮豬腩肉, 大大塊肥脂豐盛的, 再夾些大蔥絲, 青瓜片和蔥花等, 大口咬下去豬腩肉非常柔軟但又不會好膩, 不過宅女個人覺得如果沾多一點醬汁的話會更好吃.

再來的是用上燉煮牛面頰的肉, 更簡單的只夾了少許芫茜, 味道絕不會搶去牛肉的風頭. 而牛面頰肉中間還連著少連透明膠質, 咬下去時感覺牛肉十分軟淋, 而且味道更濃郁. 本來宅女不吃芫茜的, 但想不到夾著濃味的牛肉來吃出來的食味又不會太差, 更可以增添一點清爽的感覺. 當然如果閣下要吃正宗的刈包宅女會另有提議, 不過如果想吃點富新鮮感味道亦不俗的, 這款西式刈包當小吃也不錯呢.

但要數整頓最令宅女滿意的還是這個燒羊肉吧! 小小一碗放了2片頗帶厚度的羊肉, 肉質燒至剛剛好還是帶著嫩粉紅的色澤, 底下墊著兩片釀矮瓜, 配上味道重一點的醬汁, 入口羊肉的確非常軟棉, 可能因為醬汁太濃所以羊羶味不算好重. 不過如果可以的話, 其實醬汁不用淋得那麼多, 羊肉都巳經會很美味的了.

吃了幾款小食還未飽, 便可以再點幾款薄餅來試試了. 這裡的一個份量不會好大, 但上方的配料下得非常足. 這款用上全麥餅底, 吃起來不會那麼滯, 再放上幾款不同的菌類, 本來以為會是很清啖的口味, 但原來頂端也加了不少羊奶芝士和香草, 吃起來原來非常有咬口, 菌味十分香濃, 加上奶脂感重的羊奶芝士, 實在忍不住吃完一件又吃多了一件.

日式薄餅其實不算是新鮮事, 不過這個薄餅烤好後才放上大量吞拿魚蓉和三文魚子, 加上薑粒, 蔥花和紫菜的點綴, 入口吞拿魚蓉口感軟棉不乾, 還有粒粒脆卜卜的三文魚子, 配著香脆的餅底吃原來亦非常對味. 更難得的是這個西日合壁的薄餅不油不滯, 女生分分鐘可以獨個兒幹掉大半個呢!

感謝店方跟公關之邀令宅女在假日可以享受到一頓悠閒寫意的午餐.
感覺這裡主要是環境非常清優, 絕對是鬧市難得找到的好地方, 食物大致也不錯沒出現伏. 如果有時間來一趟, 吃一頓不用跟人迫, 他他條條的午餐也是一個非常不錯的節目呢!!

另一款吞拿魚薄餅(Pizza topped with ‘Chūtoro’ style fatty tuna, pickled ginger, salmon roe, garlic aioli)絕對是一個驚喜,以生的吞拿魚作為餡料,所以是先焗餅底,後放餡料,特別的一道。吞拿魚已經先作調味,魚味濃郁又鮮美,加入魚子、小蔥及咩蔥令味道更為惹味,可是精彩之處卻是加入了日式子薑粒,頓時令味道更趨和風,實在美味,推介之一。

另外,我們還對吞拿魚蓉薄餅(10/10)(Pizza topped with "Chutoro" style fatty tuna, pickled ginger, salmon roe, garlic aioli)十分有興趣。這個薄餅,很明顯是日本風味!新鮮的拖羅蓉再配上子薑及三文魚籽,配搭一絕,一點都不腥不膩!餅底很薄及塗了蒜蓉,上桌時用鐵架盛著,不會有濕氣,又香又脆。

Tivo的店裡,一直被一種超吸引的烤肉香味包圍著,但餐牌或Chef Special Menu是沒有列出烤肉的。侍應說Ribs等等的肉食都是不定期供應,客人須要詢問才會特別安排。哈哈,我們有口福了!
這個Pork Ribs(10/10)份量可不少。廚師烤肉的火喉控制得宜,外脆但仍能保留肉汁,配以橙皮製的醬料,酸酸甜甜。用刀叉去享用都太慢了,我們決定"落手"!!
伴菜是醃製過的蘋果、青瓜及紅蘿蔔,同樣是酸酸甜甜,好味道!!

聽說荷蘭街開了一家新餐廳,就決定星期日去一試究竟,店裡的裝潢比較像Garage的風格,廚房是開放式的。 我坐下來之後就點了Blueberry 和 Mango Smoothies, 味道充滿著果香,質感濃稠,不過小杯了一點。我點了個西式豬扒包,店家聲稱是採用了慢煮的豬五花肉加上醃製的黃瓜,然後好像台灣刈包一樣擺碟。 首先五花肉太乾,吃進口裡像蔗渣,而且兩個刈包收120大洋真的有點貴。 接著是Tivo big breakfast, scramble egg夠濕潤不過沒什麼味道,所以需要加少量鹽巴提味; herb sausage也是沒什麼味道,我只好自己沾一些bbq sauce; streaky bacon 有煙熏和咸味,其實應該考慮和scramble egg一起煮,這樣就兩全其美了; grilled tomato普通並沒有特別甜; sauteed mushrooms在最底層,香菇的味道中透出一些咸味; toasted dough 太硬了,我個人建議用croissant更好。 另外一道菜就是炭烤澳洲肉眼扒, 我點了5成熟,有點太熟而柴了,所以建議大家還是點3成熟好一點;薯塊煎得剛剛好外脆內軟

意料之外, D 吞拿魚係吞拿魚生 (雖然waitress同我地落單時好似有提過, 不過我地一家三口都無為意), 上面有三文魚子, 同埋有好香既蒜油 + 紫菜絲, 一黎到已經香氣撲鼻, 好想一啖咬落去, 不過因為想影一張檯上有食物既全家福, 所以只好乾睇。好彩餐廳好細心咁用焗架放係碟上serve, 而唔係直接將pizza放上碟, pizza底唔會因為水氣而淋哂, 我地可以安心咁慢慢等埋個breakfast先一齊食

不過外籍經理見到我地遲遲都唔開動, 以為我地唔滿意食物所以唔動手, 殷切咁過黎問我地一切是否安好。知道我地係想等埋另外一個dish先食, 就親自去廚房跟進

個poached egg真係好有水準, 蛋白熟哂, 但蛋黃仍然全生
不過個煙肉同sausage就真係比較油, 而spinach亦較咸 (可能平時屋企食野較清淡), 呢個無咩特別, 普通 all day breakfast 一個

個pudding好香butterscotch味, 上面既ginger glace 亦同 butterscotch 意想不到地配搭得非常好, 不過整體略甜, 如果butterscotch 醬少落D可能會比較好。最受我地一家三口歡迎既係個雪糕, 帶點蜜糖味既vanilla ice-cream ...... 唔太甜, 混埋個過甜既pudding一齊食, 甜度變得「還可以接受」

Food is nothing special for a lunch with 400 dollars.
Ordered only two items during this meal.

1. Kennedy Town Seafood pizza.
The taste is ok, it was well understood that western style seafood will mainly be squids and mussels. However, I can only find much squids without much prawns/mussels as stated on the menu. The crust of the pizza was the best part of it, perhaps it is because it is freshly baked. Overall, nice outlook, moderate taste.

2. Oxtail ragu (A pasta)
Taste is well although a little spicy, but the spicy part is acceptable as it gives a good flavour on the oxtail meat.
Oxtail meat is tender and taste quite good. But there are only two to three pieces of it.
The problem is, the potion is extremely small. It is so small that a girl with a small appetite will found it was too little for lunch.

3. Bottle Water (HKD75)
Nothing to comment as it is just pure water.
I do not know if it is my oral English is too bad to be understood. I repeated twice as water please and I expect water to be free of charge as I can see people around me are drinking it. The first waitress served me normal water which is what I want, then the manager switch my seat from the bar to a table which he promised to get us a better seat when we entered. After I switched to that new tabel. A waiter opened this bottle of mineral water without confirmation with me and billed on me and I was not aware of that until I have my bill. I am sorry but this restaurant is blacklisted just because of this small bottle of water. I do not mind paying for what I ordered, but this is certainly NOT.
Other Info. : Perhaps there is a difference in culture, but asking the customer before billing an order should be part of service. It does not matter if you price your bottled mineral water at 7 or 75, but it does matter if you opened the bottle and billed on me without confirmation with me. There are many similar restaurants around Kennedy Town with similar prices, many of them serve better than this restaurant. The atmosphere is actually not bad, but a bad experience will override everything.
