The service was friendly, but the order the dishes were brought out couldn’t be more wrong.


The lunch set includes an onsen egg dish, a soup and a salad, IN THAT ORDER. Yet, the restaurant completely disregarded the order, and brought over whichever dish that became ready first. As a result, we were served the salad and the onsen egg at the same time. Then, instead of waiting till we had finished those dishes, the soup was served while we were still working on the salad. No one, including the manager, thought that was a problem.


We were a party of two, yet only one main course was brought initially. A few staff came over and asked us what drink we wanted, as they thought we had finished our main courses. None of them even noticed one main course was missing, and we had to remind them. So one of us ended up watching the other eat his main course.


Bringing out food in the right order is a basic requirement for a respectable western restaurant. It’s shocking how Kagawa utterly failed this task. Most other customers were nearly done with their meal when we started eating, so it wasn’t because the restaurant was too busy. It’s lack of basic training.


Food:
The food portions are generally small. The grilled beef salad was a few small pieces of beef on a plate of leaves. It’s so sad looking that I thought I was eating at a school cafeteria.

The presentation and taste of the main courses were better, but the portions were still quite small. Given the price, it’s not really good value for money.

Then the risotto arrives and was a shame, a dense mass of rice glued together, no eatable. Immediately sent back

The shame is:
1) ordered a glass of wine, receive the glass with some heavy fingerprints and bit of water inside, sent back before the wine was poured. Massive lack of attention
2) Manager (not the italian one) too busy chatting and drinking  multiple glasses of red wine with 2 ladies next too us, could have not been bothered to check on us anytime during the dinner and even when the risotto was sent back.
3) The beer that the italian manager comp to us as an apology, was later on re-added to the bill, is this a joke? 

Honestly Trattoria Kagawa Team, if you dont care anymore, just shut down the place and do something else.
