這店子沒有公車到, 沒有私家車的就請靠自己的 11 號啦. 我在龍景街氹氹轉了一圈, 原來係分域碼頭過邊, 總之個大廈有 "FLEET ARCADE" 就是了, 門口還有個什麼 deck 的餐廳招牌. 門口寫上只招待會員, 初時有點錯愕, 原來無人過問的.其實我只覺得杯 70% hot chocolate 幾好味, 其他3款的 chocolate set 都一般. 70% hot chocolate : 應該是用cream 來與朱古力漿攪勻, 因是用 cream 而不是用水, 而且 cream 不稠, 所以杯 hot chocolate 是棉棉的, 滑滑的. 但一杯仔大約 100ml 左右要 $45 算幾貴.看到各仁兄的相片, 以為 chocolate 的 size 好似金莎般, waiter 送來時, 又有點錯愕, 粒粒都好似骰子般大小.... 因每粒仔朱古力都細細粒, 所以餡和朱古力的比例不太好, 餡的味道完全蓋了朱古力, 最誇張是果粒 prune, 完全是像吃西梅一樣.我覺得 chocolux 更好味.

其實我只覺得杯 70% hot chocolate 幾好味, 其他3款的 chocolate set 都一般.

70% hot chocolate : 應該是用cream 來與朱古力漿攪勻, 因是用 cream 而不是用水, 而且 cream 不稠, 所以杯 hot chocolate 是棉棉的, 滑滑的. 但一杯仔大約 100ml 左右要 $45 算幾貴.

看到各仁兄的相片, 以為 chocolate 的 size 好似金莎般, waiter 送來時, 又有點錯愕, 粒粒都好似骰子般大小.... 因每粒仔朱古力都細細粒, 所以餡和朱古力的比例不太好, 餡的味道完全蓋了朱古力, 最誇張是果粒 prune, 完全是像吃西梅一樣.

我覺得 chocolux 更好味.

地方很難找,出面又無招牌,小心看清地圖,去到大閘,在樓梯左面的小門口入,lift上一樓。原來我一直未飲過hot chocolate!千萬不要用一般的貨色和它比,完全無得比。好香,香濃,漿口,好滑,一小杯已經好滿足。入去朱咕叻玻璃房,裏面好香。吃了$108五款口味,印象不沈,有錢叫多杯重好。

因為見到咁多好評,於是就同友人一齊去試下出名的hot chocolatehot chocolate實在名不虛傳,用匙羹淺嘗不夠痛快一口一口呷先可以體會到朱古力的濃和厚價錢為 $45一杯 (見下面的食評都是寫$35..但今天我去的時候價錢為$45)位置算偏,但勝在環境夠幽靜約三五知己聚一聚的確不錯不過睇黎好快就會變得更熱鬧呢今日大概4點多去到,檯都有客人了.要坐bar檯露天的吸煙區的環境都不錯,有大樹遮陰. 不過最近天氣又濕又熱,所以最後都係揀bar檯聽聞遲d會有更多款式既食物希望質素可以keep住啦我會為左 hot chocolate而再來呀

和女友專程到此店一試這裡聞名的HOT CHOCOLATE..由於我們故意選擇閒日的下午茶時間到這裡..所以那天整店只屬我倆的二人世界..沒有人打擾..感到份外的寧靜..形形色色的朱古力擺設..加上清雅的裝修..令店舖像個朱古力博物館一樣..點了WINTER/AUTUMN COLLECTION ($68)和SIGNATURE 75% HOT CHOCOLATE ($45)熱朱古力果然是成名作..每口都是濃郁的..很香很滑的朱古力味..一一都令人回味無窮..反而覺得WINTER/AUTUMUN COLLECTION沒有那麼特別..雖然味道的確很有創意..但有一點兒蓋過了本身的朱古力味..可能本人是CHOCOHOLIC才有此感覺..但也值得一試的..另外,外藉侍應生的招呼也很友善和熱情總括來說..環境非常適合傾計..75% HOT CHOCOLATE也是必點的呢..其餘就視乎個別的喜好了~

另外,外藉侍應生的招呼也很友善和熱情
總括來說..環境非常適合傾計..
75% HOT CHOCOLATE也是必點的呢..

情人節去咗 Vero ,係隔涉咗啲,為咗歎咗一杯 75% Hot Chocolate 都值得。Vero 出名做高貴嘅朱古力,今次慕名來一杯 hot chocolate ,好 rich,飲完口裡面仲散發陣陣朱古力香味,冧哂!是日人太多,如果平日喺喥一路歎朱古力,一路同朋友傾計,對住個 sea view,可以好寫意咁消磨一個下午。

跟著就梗要試啖original 啦! 一試, 不得了~ 其實兩杯香味差唔多, 不過飲起來, original 呢杯完全唔同, 會感覺到朱古力充斥整個味蕾, 濃 香 甜, 卻在當中帶著一絲絲苦, 飲完一啖, 仲會覺得有一點餘韻在縈繞......
(講真, 有少少後悔叫咗 raspberry.........)

jar collection 個五款朱古力都各有特式
自己比較喜歡lemon drops, 好fresh
premium sparks 就會好似爆炸糖咁
popcorn 裏面真係有粒 popcorn......

不太大的店, 唔訂位可能要等一下, 或者好似我哋咁, 坐bar 枱, 佢哋有outdoor balcony, 有兩張枱, 環境仲正, 不過我去個時有雨, 所以唔坐得, 下次先啦!

熱朱古力之後,大家再吃點朱古力,先前好幾位食家也在食評中詳細描述,小弟不再補充,只說個人偏好是朱古力片,同樣地甘苦.如果有伴侶能夠分甘同味,世上最幸福的一回事.

其廚房是開放式,裏面製作朱古力的過程一覽無遺.在電影"Chocolate Factory"內,想抽中張Golden ticket難過中六合彩,抽中之後入到廠,又要受到重重考驗.來到Vero,區區附一杯熱朱古力,便能一窺全豹,在風和日麗的下午,看著海景喝朱古力.聽著Chill-out的音樂,感覺laid-back,什麼壓力也拋諸腦後.

執筆時剛好是情人節,相信大家也會買朱古力來送給另一半,若果覺得那些Godiva等名牌俗不可耐的話,不如諗下此店的朱古力?

I have never been around, it is quite an isolated place, which is a bit distant from Arts Centre. It is not easy to find even when you are already around the dockyard. I have never been around, it is quite an isolated place, which is a bit distant from Arts Centre. It is not easy to find even when you are already around the dockyard.

Once we reached the floor, the atmosphere is completely different from downstairs. The place reminds me of a term - void, feeling like being in a gallery more. And there is a line of display along the cafe, and bouquet of flowers in the dead end. I particular like the red roses that is placing anywhere. I wonder if the place is not for business... if the outside view is not a constructing site, it will be much more better.

Returning to the choco, it is a lavish enjoyment. The hot chocolate is very rich in texture, yet the dark choco favor is very strong. The quantity is just right to girls since if you finish a cup, it is really a 70% full to your stomach.

We as well has $68 chocolate tasting menu with Chinese Tangerine, Mallow, Himalayan Caramel, Apricot & Prune Scotch ... and one crunchy thingy *forgotten* the 5 minute cubes placing nicely on a transparent plate with cover. Very appealing that you dun want to eat them.

SURPRISE. Chinese tangerine is really good, the first taste is the light favor and then the chocolate, sounds like wine tasting. You can really identify the difference levels of favor.
Another is the caramel, kinda surprise me, the chocolate acts like a skin coated with the gummy caramel! The crunchy one is nice too, the bite is between 'crispy' and 'crunchy', yummy ... Whereas the Apricot & Prune Scotch is rather fruity and the popcorn one is Mallow and is rich in lime favor and texture is like popcorn.

I particularly like the glass choco storing room, with that choco Terracotta, rose bouquet and V-day display, and transparen cans of chocolate delicacies filled up the room. Also, you can look through the glasses with chefs making chocolates.

It is a Chocolate Wonderland.

The staff are very polite and will introduce to you the chocolate menus patiently, filling up your cups of water, and reminding that the shop will be closed from 17th -2Xth for US armies. (Better make a call to ensure that)

Chinese tangerine給我留下最深印象。朱古力包著類似JELLY的東東,軟軟的又帶點黏牙,是柑味,酸酸甜甜好特別。
Pink himalayan caramel:焦糖朱古力,咬開有微微的流心效果,味道似拖肥,算是較甜漏的一款,好味。
爆炸糖朱古力:第一次吃,朱古力混合爆炸糖,觸動了舌頭每處神經,好得意。

脆米朱古力:朱古力加脆米點都咁好食,咬口十足~
Sesame pencil:食完會記得的一種,鉛筆形的朱古力,牛油味相當重,蓋過了朱古力味,個人麻麻。
orange grissini:枝條形,充滿橙味,又有點點果仁,味道清新又突出。

Premium Squares Collection每款朱古力塊都入口易溶,最愛當然是70%的Dark chocolate,最濃郁。Milk chocolate亦得我歡心。

除了Premium Squares Collection,其餘兩sets的朱古力上都放有金銆,美觀又華麗。基本上所有口味都試過,好滿足。當然最開心是跟一眾朱古力迷分享,零舍滋味。


整體來說,水準很高,每一款都好出色,實在令人回味啊!!希望它快點推出蛋糕和其他甜品啦~還有好喜歡那個開放式的廚房,將來我也想要一個這樣的「甜點工房」,自己動手做甜品也會開心好多~


終於看到主理人KC了(不是OR的KC呀~得知同名後,大家都在議論紛紛haha
),年輕有為的甜品師傅兼負責人~人也很NICE!!值得一提的是,這裡的服務十分周到,好體貼。

整體環境食物服務均令人滿意。多謝wilson的好介紹啊

另外食友們極力推介「鉛筆」(?) 及 caramel 軟心朱古力, 可惜唔夠搶啦, 下次試試先.

店內放滿大量朱古力造的藝術品, 除0左仲高過我的實心「兵馬俑」之外, 仲見到朱古力高跟鞋, 朱古力 roses, 朱古力唇膏及朱古力 lock and key, 靚成咁邊個會捨得食? 白雪雪環境十分闊落, 開揚好坐, 傾偈一流, 可惜海景而家變了「填海景」啦 -_-" Service 亦十分好, 好舒服的一個地方.

好,繼續介紹Vero。這間新開的本地薑朱古力店,坐擁無敵海景,設計雅致充滿空間感。如果扣除填海,環境絕對值滿分。除了靚景,Vero有多個開放式廚房,食客可清楚得見各式甜點、朱古力製造過程;另外朱古力店有多項特別而又精緻絕侖的朱古力製品,精緻的朱古力玫瑰是一例。
 
視覺上得到大飽足後,當然少不了來到滿足口腹之慾。等待遲到者的同時,大家已經急不及待要享用傳說中的極品
75%熱朱古力。得Wilson提點,朱古力未一上檯相機就已就緒,準備拍下熱朱古的「演變」過程:
首先,觀察頂層朱古力片緩緩融化過程....
然後,再慢慢感受到濃郁的朱古力香氣散發....
最後,再細味其甘香濃郁細滑的味道....
這杯朱古力的可貴之處,是做到濃而不稠,入口滑溜的朱古力,卻竟留下甘醇濃郁的難忘感受。突然想起caffe pasucci帶麵粉味的朱古力,剛好蝗蟲同事也剛拜訪完,討論之下大家都認為Vero要來得高班。這杯食味趣味皆滿分的飲品,稱之為極品,真不為過!

喜歡的,很快就清光了;不過同場也有人認為朱古力味太濃郁,接受不來...

 
等齊姍姍來遲的甜魔後,當然也少不了
chocolate menu tasting。甜魔本著掃清menu的宗旨,3款collections($60-$108)全都要打孖上;不過由於朱古力種類繁多,參與混戰的甜魔又更多,實在很難逐一介紹朱古力。留下較佳印象的,是Autumn/winter collection,當中尤以圓形的軟心焦糖朱古力最為特別,一咬開香脆朱古力外層,裡面的焦糖醬迸發,令甜魔留下最深印象。另外,也有其他甜魔認為Premium Jar Collection的爆炸糖朱古力夠特別。
 
也要講講服務。是次參與活動的出席者比報名人數多了50%,要麻煩服務員不斷加位,又為大家加水,然而她仍保持溫文有禮的態度。頗為靚仔,半廚半老闆的KC又肯與一眾小粉絲合照,也為服務加了分。最後,Vero的衛生及洗手間也值得一讚!

 
很高興認識幾位可愛的新甜魔,更驚訝有神秘客席嘉賓拜訪,總之,大家都在這個可愛的地方,渡過一個十分愉快的下午。與大家食甜品太高興了,超級期待三月再去食過!


P.S.稍後Vero會推出dessert bar,相信到時食物選擇會比淨朱古力更令人興奮!

I came here for the signature Vero hot chocolate, melting solid chocolate top on top of strong cocoa hot chocolate.
It was fun watching the solid chocolate top melt and bubbling into the hot chocolate, taste wise a strong punch of rich cocoa, and not sickening at all.

I also tried the box of 9 chocolates, the flavours inside the box were Kalamansi mallow, Chinese Tangerine, Red Hazelnut, Pink Himalayan Caramel, and Apricot & Prune Scotch.

The Kalamansi was fun to eat, soft foamy marshmallow with a tangy green lime centre, the red hazelnut was presented like a mini cornflake crumble, bits of crunchy cornflakes and hazelnut covered in chocolate. The Apricot and prune was fruitier than I expect, as the fruit was not the dried type, but moist. The dusted caramel was the best, bursting liquid caramel oozing out of it.

Chocoholics Alert! Find out where Fenwick Pier is. Then, start your pilgrimage to a very first LOCAL brand of chocolates -- VERO.

I wrote about Cha.Ke.Li and La Maison in Admiralty, it's inevitable, a matter of time before I paid VERO CHOCOLATE LOUNGE a visit. I decided that time to be today. Opening everyday at 9 am sharp, Vero occupied the entire 1st floor of the Fenwick Pier Arcade. At the entrance you'll already see the brand on one side, and on the other a piece of art on the wall depicting a cocoa pod. Through the glass door is an L-shaped lounge overlooking the Harbour on one side, with the other side of the room an insider's glimpse of an open pastry kitchen of Vero.

Vero was a chocolate brand first founded by local Roger Chan and his wife Veronica. They decided to name it VERO, as a combination of their name (VEronica and ROger). VERO, synonymous to TRUE in Italian, has every reason to celebrate chocolate with essence of creativity and innovation through its creations and line of products. Meet Chef Koo, who started his training in Mandarin Oriental and am now the mastermind behind the designs of all the chocolates and the tested palate of all the indulgent morsels. Koo insisted that Vero chocolate must be kept in an air condition room in store. I could see that room, featuring creative sculptures made entirely of chocolate, including one pictured here -- a Life-sized Terracotta Warrior, made entirely of Chocolate and Cocoa.

The decor was modest with minimalist designs. All white with brown edges and plenty of glass jewel display cases meaning to show off the chocolates as more than a confection, but an art that's meant to be appreciated on the taste and visually as well. In the chocolate room were boxes of chocolates on display. Some in plastic cases, some in simple but neat wrapping. The chocolate sculpture captured my attention as I turned to look at forms of Christmas trees made entirely of chocolate.

My first encounter of VERO was at Cafe O, where their crossover with VERO offered an exceptional Hot Chocolate, which was also available here. Flora, the floor manage, made it clear that I sit and have my camera ready while she made it. She was literally running, with a small cup in hand, and set it in front of me. I snapped a few pictures, one shown here. You'll have to see it to believe the dramatic part of this hot chocolate. It was made with VERO's very own Hot Chocolate blend ($400 for 1kg of it) and whole milk. It's almost as thick as the chocolate mixture used in Chocolate fondue. Then at the very last moment a piece of dark chocolate was placed on top. The heat from the beverage will quickly melt the chocolate as it spread out to enrobe the surface. The key was to witness the transformation of the chocolate melting. Clearly, Vero has a flare for drama even in their signature hot chocolate!

It took me 2 minutes to get through the fudgy top of melted dark chocolate, and still the beverage was warm and thick, with a whiff of steam coming out from below. The sip of sweet dark chocolate was no sugary sweetness at all. Instead it was an intensed blow sweeping me off my feet. Indulgingly rich with a special nuttiness to the chocolate itself, the earthy aftertaste gave me a rounded finish. I took a sip of water, before I indulged the chocolate all over again. If there is a guilt-free hot-chocolate heaven, that'd be it.
Creative packets of sesame grissini, pyramids of lemon drops, etc...All featuring chocolate as ingredient. Not to forget are the current collection of bonbons (9 pieces for $180, 25 pieces for $360). Flavours are essentially of local familiarity: Kalamansi mallow (柑桔棉花糖), Chinese Tangerine (陳皮), Red Hazelnut, Pink Himalayan Caramel, and Apricot & Prune Scotch, each matched well with chocolate surprisingly well. The Kalamansi was tangy but the liquid centre of Pink Himalayan caramel was the best in show!

As a "Chocolate Lounge", VERO has clearly established itself with its success in the hot chocolate part, There's an open bar serving coffees, espresso and liquors as well. On the eating front VERO is still developing future offerings including breakfasts and cakes and more. Patrons and Chocoholic pilgrims can sip hot chocolate and other beverages overlooking the amazing view on a clear day!

Knowing more about VERO I realized that succeeding as a local brand breaking out into the cut-throat chocolate market may be a difficult mission, but understanding the concepts and ideas behind keeping it simple, small-batch and local-based made me appreciate it more, and the same case applies to chocolate, as small servings of it at a time seduce our palates and desire to gastronomic climax, and never to take these little offerings for granted. This 'local ginger' is not just about luxury. It has a sharp competitive edge to it too!
