在香港現存最老牌的酒店應該是半島酒店,在1928年開始營業至今,經歷過第二次世界大戰,又被日軍徵用作司令部,時至今日,她雖然背負著比字典還要厚的歷史,環顧新型豪華酒店林立,然而半島酒店並未被時代的巨輪淘汰,仍然保持活力,吸引著萬千的朝聖者,而我是其中一位。認識這酒店,是來自一橙汁汽水廣告,小孩乘豪華轎車到酒店大門口,然後被引領入餐廳,所見酒店環境樓底甚高,氣派不凡,年長的餐廳經理以銀托盤端著一樽橙汁汽水來,小孩喝了一口,說了經典的一句對白:「綠寶橙汁真係好飲喇!」,經理看了一眼,吞了口水,當然當年只得幾歲的我也羨慕不已。有些地方,一生人總想要去至少一次,半島酒店內的法國餐廳吉地士,擺放在我想去的地方名單內已有多年,很想來吃一頓飯,感受一下傳統的優質服務和食物,知夫莫若妻,太太今年特意訂座為我慶祝生日。上星期日的中午,我終於可實現我多年的夢想,踏進吉地士,幸好不像其地下大堂茶廳般迫滿來自四方的客人,典雅宮廷式的氣派,華麗的水晶大吊燈,到處擺放著芳香撲鼻的紅玫瑰,營造出寧靜舒泰的用餐環境和氣氛。年輕而英俊的烏克蘭藉服務員為我們介绍是日的餐單,套餐可選擇四道菜,五道菜或八道菜,我們選了四道菜
