The prime tail chuck flap BBQ set $145. We had the choice to choose 2 additional meats we want and we chose boneless chicken wings with pear sauce for both as I loved it last time I came here. The prime tail chuck flap was decent but there was 3 pieces so it was a bit awkward when sharing between 2 people. The boneless chicken wings in pear sauce was absolutely delicious and a huge recommendation. The portion was also quite generous compared to the beef. The chicken was carefully deboned then pounded so it would be thin yet still tender. The additional marinade helped caramelize the exterior of the chicken and give it a beautiful golden brown and crunch. Another good thing is that it is very hard to overcook this chicken and make it tough.
The Premium wagyu ox tongue set $235. This was somewhat disappointing, they gave 4 cuts of meats and each had 2-4 pieces of meat. The wagyu ox tongue had 2 pieces and was extremely tough, maybe we over cooked it but the meat itself was very thin and almost see through, which is a shame as wagyu is known for being very fatty 😂. The wagyu rib finger was the best thing in this set, the meat was thick and well portioned so it remained tender and was melt-in-your-mouth delicious😋. The Hanwoo boneless rib was also decent, much like other normal meat, not memorable. This set also has a prime tail chuck flap but the quality and size is the same as the other set.
Each lunch set comes with their signature Hanwoo rice, this bowl of rice is definitely their best dish in the restaurant😝. The combination of the silky egg yolk with the crunchy and fragrant scallions and then mixed in with the Hanwoo minced beef is truly unbeatable. The portion is also quite large for a lunch set but it would make sense as they don’t give a lot of meat to grill 😬. You could also ask for no scallions or a half cooked egg which is still silky but with some egg white, but ask when ordering as the staff gets mad when they have to send stuff back which is pretty rude of them.
Kimchi pancake $112
I normally order their seafood pancake from their lunch snack selection but wanted to try something new. They don’t have kimchi pancake available as a smack so I had to get their full size one at $112. The edges were not crispy and charred at all unlike their seafood pancake which was disappointing. The presentation and way they cooked the pancake was also quite different than the snack as the pancake is really big so the middle pieces would be more soggy and mushy. The kimchi pancake also lacks a lot of texture as it is only kimchi, compared to the seafood pancake with firm bites from the seafood and crunchiness from the scallions. I recommend eating this with a fresh piece of kimchi to balance out the acidity and textures.
Good tip: if the pancake gets cold, just grill it on the grill for 10 seconds ok medium heat or 6 seconds on high heat. 😉.
A huge disappointment this meal was the service. We got this young male that served our side of the restaurant and considering it was around 14:00, it was not busy at all. 9/10 of the time I see him he is on his phone, chatting with another staff/customer or staring at the cash register doing nothing. Another factor that really bothered me was when we asked for more side dishes (kimchi, lettuce, tea) he would dump the dishes onto the table with no manners whatsoever. Which really ruined my mood for eating delicious meat. The waiter also didn’t introduce the meat platters and I had to search them up to give each piece a name 😐.
Some food combinations I recommend:
1. Lettuce + grilled beef (any kind) + garlic
2. Lettuce + grilled pork (any kind) + kimchi
3. Lettuce + grilled chicken + seasoned vegetables + cheese/corn
4. Lettuce + Hanwoo rice (a tsp) + seasoned squid (gives a strong unmatchable umami flavor)
5. Lettuce + grilled beef (any kind) + Korean pepper + kimchi
Total:
122 + 145 + 235 = 492
492 - 15% (openrice booking offer) = 418.2
418.2 + 10% (service charge) = $460 (230/person)
$112
