Working near Landmark I never went to this basement restaurant for dinner until one rainy night last week. Working near Landmark I never went to this basement restaurant for dinner until one rainy night last week. Like one of the other correspondents my girlfriend and I did not want to get soaked by hiking up to LKF. It was the biggest culinary mistakes of my life.

The "AE card" special menu caught our eye. Five or six dishes including sashimi, lobster and tempura, for $600 or so (for two), after 40% discount! How can you resist such an incredible offer?

But we were disappointed dish after dish. Sashimi was not much better than "Genki" fare, lobster was little more than a small shell, and tempura was like fried onion rings dripping with oil. For noodles I expected at least some chewy udon or soba, but no, we were given some soft chinese egg noodles. I have been to some of the best Jap restaurants in town like Nadaman, Unkai and Hiro, so I know the difference btn good and bad Jap food. But this one definitely falls into to the latter category.

I used to think the outlet was okay (for lunch at least). Somehow it has become just a Maxim fast food joint (like Miso at Jardine House). And charging $600 for the meal is outright dishonest.

I will never go back again.
