Bistronomique is located right on the waterfront, and it has a perfect view of the harbor.  This view reminds me of the lyrics... 她常到海旁在唱在唱... but of course, XO and I are not here to sing but rather to eat.

We each started with a drink, and I opted for a Peach Daiquiri, which was not as sour as the usual daiquiris, and I really liked the fresh sweet peach flavor.

Since I ordered an onion soup, the server added the soup spoon to my silverware.

XO and I decided to order the Salt Cod Brandade w/ black truffle, which was recommended by our waiter.

The Salt Cod Brandade w/ black truffle was a mushy combination of the whipped cod and potatoes, and we cut open the egg and let the gooey yolk mix in. We slathered the mixture on the toast, and each piece was the perfect bite of savory and fluffy salted cod on top of a crunchy toast.  This is definitely a dish that warms the soul.

XO had another appetizer that was composed mostly of pork, so I only tried a little bit of that and moved on to my onion soup.

Of course I had to order the onion soup, it's one of my favorites, and I love it when it's authentic!

The Onion Soup at Bistronomique had a nicely browned layer of cheese on top, and once the layer of cheese is lifted, the crouton that is saturated with broth is revealed.

The broth of the Onion Soup was very flavorful, and the onions were completely caramelized that they pretty much disappeared in the broth.  This Onion Soup is another winner in my book!

For the main course, XO and I decided to split the Pigeon Fricassee w/ black truffle, morel, foie gras.  Good thing we decided to split the dish as it was quite big.

The pigeon had a nice crispy skin, and the meat was quite tender.  This is not a traditional fricassee as the sauce wasn't white but rather an aromatic brown sauce with the beautiful essence of black truffle and morel mushrooms.  The sauce went perfectly with the fluffy rice!  This dish was a flavor bomb with the truffle, morel mushrooms, and foie gras!

For dessert, I opted for the Vanilla crème brûlée, while XO had the Mille-feuille.

The Vanilla crème brûlée had a pretty good sugar crust that cracked when I hit it with my spoon.  The highlight of this dessert was in the crème part.  The custard was really smooth, and as you can tell from the picture, there was plenty of vanilla seeds in the custard.  A lot of restaurants in Hong Kong serve crème brûlée, but not a lot of them serve a good crème brûlée like Bistronomique!

Although it's quite annoying that I kept whining to godbro XO about going to Kennedy Town to ride the Western extension of the MTR Island line, I'm kind of glad I did because we found Bistronomique, which is a gem on the waterfront!
