I love getting takeaway curries back in London, and my favourites used to be saag with prawns and tikka masala with chicken! Indian food takeaways aren’t as popular in Hong Kong so it has definitely been a while since I last had any proper Indian curry. We opted for brunch at Chaiwala and it definitely lived up to our expectations! My favourite was their pink salmon 😍 So incredibly tender and flavourful (though a little salty towards the end) that I truly savoured every bite!
As for curry, we went for the Kerala Fish Curry (the yellow curry) and the Old Delhi Butter Chicken (the red curry) 😍 Both the fish and the chicken were super tender, though I did like the rich tomato fenugreek sauce that came with the butter chicken better as it was thicker, more flavourful and a better dipping sauce for naans! The fish curry was relatively runnier in texture and had a strong coconut flavour. Their naan was super light and puffy, so you can easily finish more than one piece and ask for refills (for free!!)
Another highlight was the mutton (in the bowl sitting between the red and yellow curry)! The lamb was incredibly tender and basmati rice had a delicious aroma!
As for dessert, we were served a plate of strawberry 🍓 cream cakes (the piece on the right was bomb!), a funny ball of fried sugar/cinnamon and a delicious scoop of strawberry ice cream! And yes, their ice cream was amazing and absolutely nailed that strawberry 🍓 flavour!
