Weekend at Lai Chi Kok to explore the weekend markets. It was here that I discovered a bakery called Doughman. The shop location is right next to the MTR station but the actual shop is down a flight of stairs. It appears they've taken over the basement area of this building. They bake the bread in the back and constantly bringing out new goods. All the baked goods are displayed behind windowed partitions. I decided to purchase two items. The first is the Blueberry and Cream Cheese Bagel ($24) as it was fresh from the oven. It had a nice chew but there wasn't a lot of filling. But what there was of it was ok. Not that great. Not a lot of blueberry as well. It was topped with sugar which is not something I was fond of.
Sweet Corn Creamcheese Danish ($26) was the item that stopped me in my tracks. It looked really good. The corn was a whole slice and it was very sweet. The Danish pastry was flakey. But I wasn't fond of the cream cheese. For some reason it didn't really go well with the corn.
The bread was decent but I wasn't too fond of the few added additions. If they left them off, I'd probably like it more. I'd still be back if in the area but then I don't live nearby.
