although i don't have photos for this newly christened restaurant, i'm not regretful as i'd rather not let pretty photos falsify the actual taste of the food!we ordered:grilled eggplant w/ bonito - this appears EXACTLY as described. a grilled eggplant with a healthy dose of bonito. it would have been nice if it had any FLAVOUR (such as a marinade or sauce?) but i suppose that's why they give so much bonito!!steamed egg with seafood - very nice comfort food; steamed with strong broth flavour, n

we ordered:
grilled eggplant w/ bonito -
this appears EXACTLY as described. a grilled eggplant with a healthy dose of bonito. it would have been nice if it had any FLAVOUR (such as a marinade or sauce?) but i suppose that's why they give so much bonito!!
steamed egg with seafood -
very nice comfort food; steamed with strong broth flavour, nice texture, and generous with seafood and mushrooms. unfortunately this is what i consider to be their best dish (or snack?), though it is also the smallest!!
smoked duck breast w/ udon -
the udon texture is OK, but the portion of duck is really pathetic. 5 very thin slices of duck, which is maybe the equivalent mass of 2 typical pieces of sashimi. the flavour was very strong, although i would've preferred a better balance throughout the dish...
assorted veg udon in soymilk broth -
the veg portion was OK, but WHAT ABOUT TASTE?!?! i detect only a very faint saltiness, and absolutely no soy flavour. what is this!? commercial soymilk mixed with hot water? which essentially means plain boiled udon and veg. GAH!!#@

unfortunately with their new outlet while promotion "luxury" items like oysters, i question their efforts when something extremely basic is already done wrong.
