One of the restaurants that was on my cousin's request list during her visit during the Christmas holidays was The Verandah.

For the lunch buffet, The Verandah's price point is about the same as other hotels of the same caliber.  The variety of food is not as vast as some restaurants, but the quality is pretty good.
When we made the reservation, we were told that the lunch buffet runs from noon to 2:30, so we can arrive and leave anytime during the time slot.

We got to the restaurant a little after 12noon, and there was a very festive scene decorating the front of the restaurant.

We were led to our table for the party of 11.  Even with our big party, we didn't feel crammed.  I didn't get any pictures of the decor as the restaurant was packed as usual.

After we got settled, I took a quick survey of the buffet area.

For buffets, I usually just attack the appetizers and desserts and don't eat too many hot dishes.

The buffet had a good variety of cold cuts, sashimi and sushi, and salad.  My family's favorite item is the lobster salad.   And, my favorite is the smoked salmon with dill.
The salad bar had a decent variety of greens, but when I was getting my salad, I thought they didn't have any romaine lettuce, but it turned out that when they refilled the vegetables, they would take away the bowl of greens for however long it takes to bring it to the kitchen to refill the bowl and bring it back.  When I went for my second helping of salad, the romaine was available.

This abalone is the selling point of the buffet, but as usual, I didn't like it at all.  My family really likes it, and one of my cousins ate 10 of them by himself.  I just don't like the way they cook it with the sake and Japanese seasonings.
For the hot dishes, I only had some vegetables which I didn't take a photo of since they were literally just vegetables--nothing really special.

The mousse cups were not really special, and I wouldn't have it again.

The macarons had a light crispy shell and gooey center!  They were not as good as those from the macaron shops, but the quality is really good for a lunch buffet!

The strawberry roll had a light sponge cake and sweet creamy center!  The strawberry was not sour at all!  It was just delicious!
The Christmas ornament-looking cake was very pretty!

The cheesecake was pretty light, and the coffee pastry had a good strong coffee flavor that wasn't bitter!  The scone was very disappointing as it was quite dry, and it was cold.

My favorite thing about dining at traditional hotel restaurants is the cup of tea at the end!  I'm usually a coffee person, but I'd always order a cup of Breakfast Tea when dining at traditional hotel restaurants.  The cup of Breakfast Tea was top notch; it had a strong flavor, and it went down smoothly!
The Verandah's lunch buffet might not have the vast variety like some hotel restaurants, but it makes up for it with the quality of food and beautiful decor!  Most of the servers delivered impeccable service that day except for one of the servers, who was definitely new!  I'm sure my cousin will ask to dine at The Verandah again during a future visit!
