Ordered set lunch ($588pp). Wine list was from the Cell downstairs. By-the-glass selection soso only. Didn’t order any. Bread selection was good. Butter only available upon request. First to come: trio of appetizers, being steak tartare (too spicy for me), scallop (weird temperature, bordering on lukewarm-cool) with pineapple chutney and caviar; and crab salad. Tomatoes tasted sweet and fresh.
Lobster bisque was next. Could see the relatively big portion of lobster at the bottom whilst server poured in the soup. Although not a fan of lobster bisque in general, the fishy taste was not prominent. Server saw that I didn’t finish mine and suggested that I could ask for the alternative of onion soup next time.
Server then set a long tray of different salts down on the table.
Variety of sauces to choose from: we picked the gravy, bearnaise and mushroom. Rib eye was my entree- and mine was particularly small compared to my friends’. Meat was tender. USDA afterall. Loved the roasted garlic.
Tried someone’s sea bass - outside was crispy; tasted good.
Entrees came with French fries with grated cheese and baked Portobello mushrooms as sides. Fries were crunchy enough. Mushrooms were a bit oily.
Pear tart as dessert. Loved the crumble.
Coffee not included.
In summary: good value for money. Interested to return and try dinner.
