Peninsula hotel only offer this BBQ Buffet dinner 3 months a yr(from Sept - Dec). We called to make the reservation a month ago and found Dec 3 to be the last day for this BBQ dinner. So we have decided to go on the very last day hoping the weather would get cold(not too warm by then, afterall is a outdoor bbq dinner)This bbq buffet is outdoor right at the pool terrace where you can have a nice view of the HK harbour with all the beautiful x'mas lighting right in front of you. the weather was
This bbq buffet is outdoor right at the pool terrace where you can have a nice view of the HK harbour with all the beautiful x'mas lighting right in front of you. the weather was nice and cool and the view was excellent. the terrrace is not very big, there were only around 8 table, sitting approx. no more than 30 people.
The BBQ table has around 10 items and the chefs there will grill whatever you ordered in front of you. There are 2 type of fish, pork, chicken, pork ribes, beef steak, veal, 2 types of sausages(beef and pork), large scallop in shell and large prawns. the selection are quite wide considering the total number of people for the buffet. right beside the bbq table, there is a table with 4 selection of special made source for the bbq along with some jojo fries and grill vege for you to go with all your BBQ goodies.
in addition to the BBQ table, there is of course the cold cut salad table with selections of salads, cold cuts. on the dessert table, there are cakes(one if the devil peninsula chococlate cake)all being served in small sizes/slices so you can get to taste more varities without filling yourself up. there is also the classic aftermeal cheese flats servced with crakers and grapes for those of you who love to have cheese afer your meal. large bowls of fresh strawberris, blueberris and fresh cut fruits are also servced. the best of all for me was the 2 bucket of home-made ice cream(vanilla and raspberry sherbert). i am never a big fan of vanilla ice-cream but this rich vanilla ice cream was so nicely made that i couldn't hold myself from keep going back for more and more scopes despite how full i already was.
in summary, is definitely worth going. i mean, able to sit 7th floor up on peninsula hotel without a roof on top of you and a nice view of the hk harbour itself is already a great enjoyment. all the meat on the bqq table were premium and fresh. the services was excellent. the only flaw i found was the limited selection of beef we get from the BBQ table. as a beef lover, i was so much looking forward to enjoy a thick marble beef steak but all they have was some very thin lean beef steak which i personally found tasteless and unfullfilling.
