Where to start? We booked it last week for 3 ppl, having heard good reviews abt the food and value for money. We turned up today lunch time expecting nothing more than good food and good value. What did we get instead? The following.........1. decor and ambience - non existent, boring and totally lacking in thought which was fine if the food had been up to scratch - it was not. As soon as you came out of the lift, all 4 corners is visible. Tables lined up as though you were in a school canteen a
1. decor and ambience - non existent, boring and totally lacking in thought which was fine if the food had been up to scratch - it was not. As soon as you came out of the lift, all 4 corners is visible. Tables lined up as though you were in a school canteen and seating for 4s separated by a mere few centimetres from your neighbour.
2. food - we ordered 3 set meals - the only things available by the way. There was a good combination - 17 I think with the usual. All set meals came with the standard miso soup, udon in soup and steamed egg. Let's not get excited - given these were served to all, it was obviously mass produced from some ready made packet. I have the sushi set, the others had ginger pork and raw fish over rice - again, what you would expect in any other restaurant. Ginger pork looked like what I would cook at home - not terribly exciting again. Sashimi rice had a good selection for sashimi but little rice so Gents' beware and eat before you come. I've saved the sushi for last - rice was not sushi rice but just plain rice with no taste, slightly on the dry side, not soft and tender and the usual stickiness we expect from sushi rice was not there. I might as well have bought these from a supermarket deli counter (which is surprisingly delicious on occassion). In addition, sushi rice was topped with a dollop of wasabi - way too much. The meat was however ok. Perhaps I should have stuck to the sashimi. Dessert came with the meal and was a scoop of tofu ice cream - it was nice, probably the best part of the meal
3. Service - I'd arrived but there was no one at the door but since it was so small, that's ok - my companions had arrived. Tea was served (lukewarm & bland). Orders taken and food arrived in no time. Once the main meals were consumed, dessert came quickly after and we were told for the price of an extra HKD6, we could have coffee. As soon as ice cream was finished and whilst we were considering whether to get coffee, our waitress came over and asked us to move to another table to make room for other customers waiting by the lift. It was unforgiveably rude and ill mannered - as though to say, now you've eaten and we've made our money from you, pls leave & you are no longer welcomed. I'd have expected it from fast food joints, dai pai dongs but not from a so called restaurant in Central - ridiculously bad service. Obviously no one has bothered to train them or teach them that return service and word of mouth goes a long way for restaurants.
4. Price - at abt HKD120-130 per meal. It was not cheap and certainly not good value for the overall experience. There are plenty of places in Central within that price range which is far more satisfying. Needless to say, I will not be returning nor recommending this one at all.
