Chinese cuisine is not exactly the most accommodating for plant-based diets but recently I’ve discovered more Chinese restaurants that include a meatless menu.

First visit to Deng G, I wanted to try their special vegetarian curated with @eatplantsifu plantsifu (offered now till end of Oct). Unfortunately, I visited one week too early 🥺but I was glad to have found other vegetarian options on the regular menu.

So crispy and yum! The tofu were cut up into tiny cubes which made it perfect for deep frying. It came with a dish of seasoning but it was already quite flavourful without extra dipping.
Would prefer if the salt could be taken down a bit.
🤤 4/5

Favourite dish of the night - even for my meat-loving friend! Unlike most Sichuan Dry Pot, this one was not oily at all and the flavouring was perfect with just the right amount of heat! 🌶
They also have the same pot with pork inside, so make sure you specify to get the vegetarian one when you order. ☝🏻

I was so happy to spot this on the menu, especially when it’s a one-person portion. 🍜 However, it was not the kind of nutty, mild flavour that I expected. This one was quite spicy and I couldn’t taste any peanut flavours.
🤤 3.5/5

The kind of Chinese jelly that doesn’t need gelatin. First time seeing haw flakes on ice jelly - brought me a lot of childhood memories at the Chinese doctor’s. 😂 If it was served colder would be more enjoyable.
🤤 3.5/5

🌱 Vegetarian-friendly: Plenty of options, from starters to mains!
😍 Harbour view: They also have a small outdoor area overlooking Victoria Harbour with a separate menu of reasonable priced drinks and bar snacks.
💰 HK$200-350 pp

⭐️ Overall rating: 4/5
🤔 Revisit? Yes! Would like to come with a bigger group next time to try more of their dishes! 😋
