Not a lot of Mexican restaurant would serve fish tacos grilled (usually deep-fried), and I definitely think they made a smart
choice because the fish was so fresh and it’d become a waste if deep fried. The fish didn’t have a lot of seasoning, which gave a refreshing healthy twist to it.

We also got an exotic plate – Chargrilled Cactus – my first time ever trying Cactus!

It was interesting, I’d say it was a combination of okra and bitter melon seasoned with lime sauce. I wouldn’t say this dish would be for everyone, but it’s definitely for me (coz I loved okra and bitter melon
).

We moved on with our seafood journey – Agua Chile Snapper – snapper “sashimi” in chilli spiked lime juice.

When first presented, I was like, “is this really Mexican food? It looked more like Thai to me” It did had some resemblance to Thai sashimi, but as opposed to Thai’s
sweetness, the smoky peppery Mexican spices made the dish very unique. It did lived up to what the menu said “sushi grade”, as the snappers were super fresh!

Next up – Shrimp Diablo. When I saw the name…I was like “seriously?”.
And yes, after a bite, the spiciness was devilishly serious.

The freshness of the jumbo shrimps compromised well with the sweet and spicy sauce. It was a very yummy dish that you can’t stop eating and licking your fingers.

As for main, we had the Seafood Paeda.

Like Paella, the dish was filled with rice cooked in seafood broth, topped with clams, shrimps, and squids. However, unlike Paella, Paeda was lighter in flavor, and moister. After a journey of spicy starters, I find this palette cleaning dish very comforting.

As for dessert, we went with my all-time favourite – CHURROS!

Warm and crispy churros sprinkled with cinnamons and served with dark chocolate
dip. Perfect ending for the night.

I’d recommend Verde Mar for seafood lovers who look for exotic spicy alternatives.
