It was my first visit to Grand Hyatt's Steakhouse ever since JJ was closed down. The ambience was more or less the same as before with a salad bar and oyster bar in the middle of the restaurant. Having high hopes for this American steakhouse, we were seated and the manager was explaining salad would be included in the meal with an additional of $150, which was quite a good deal, all 3 of us opt for it and went straight to the menu.

There were 3 different kinds of beef: USDA Prime Nebraska Beef, Canadian Angus Beef and Japan A5 Beef. There portions were quite big, with the smallest size being 8oz. Others were normally of 12oz or above, I wondered if that would cater to the ladies' taste. There were also other non-beef options like Grilled Cod or Seabass. So in the end, we ordered 8oz Rib Eye, 12 Oz Flank and Grilled Miso Cod.

We were served with a bread basket of Garlic Bread. Warm and Crunch they were, it was irresistable to have more than one of them
then off we went for the Salad Bar. The range of selection was decent - there were even parma ham with melon and foie gras with toast. The house-smoked salmon was awesome. You could actually fill your tummy by the Salad Bar already.

Our main finally came. Mine was the 8oz Rib Eye. It had got a wooden stick attached to it showing your preference on how it should be cooked. However, I was quite confused with the sauce served. I had not stated my choice when I ordered, so I dipped my fork into the sauce and realized it was Black Pepper. I did not eat spicy myself so I asked the manager if I had a choice of what sauce to serve with. It turned out it was the waiter who forgot to ask us our preference, there were mushroom sauce, garlic sauce and so on. Was a bit surprised that this kind of mistake would happen at a 5-star hotel restaurant. Maybe it was still in the first few months of its opening, but I do hope this would not happen again. The manager swiftly offered me mushroom sauce.

The steak was well cooked. The outer part was crisp while drips of raw meat juice were well preserved. It was neither too oily with its own fat or too filling. I was able to finish most of it. The sauce was definitely a perfect complement to the meat without covering the original Rib Eye taste.

The other seafood dish we ordered was Grilled Miso Cod. The outer part was a bit too charred for my liking. The Cod meat was tender of course, but was a bit too heavy because of the butter cooked with the fish. Guess we should stick to meat the next time we come, though I would suggest the selection for non-beef lovers could be a bit more diverse.
