 (This was the reason why we wanted to try this place- I’ll get to what I thought about it later though……)
When I got to the TABLE the space was simple, lovely and easy and thats why I was shocked when the first thing I noticed was the extravagant prices on the menu! $128 for razor clams?! Wait. Thats for ONE SINGLE RAZOR CLAM!? Ummm….I’ll get to those later. Of course the 5 of us ordered their signature dish The Mud Crab Roe and Garlic rice dish (which serves 4 was $1,480! With that sorta price….you better expect an amazing quality dish!) Lets see…..

 A selection of hot breads were served. I loved the light crispy bread sticks. Thin, flaky, crunchy bread sticks that opened up my appetite.

 A side of lobster fries that were $78. These I considered reasonably priced. They were nice and cheesy. But I’m honestly a little shocked by everything that followed.
We ordered 2 Lobster Macchiatos (not pictured.) One bowl of lobster macchiato sets you back at $198. Now don’t get me wrong…the soup was actually delicious. But the size of the cup of soup was sooooo tiny. I couldn’t believe myself. None of us could!

 I can not say…HOW SHOCKED I AM BY THIS! One piece of razor clams sets you back $128. For these two clams…I kid you not…was $256! I really don’t understand that. I didn’t have a bite because there was really nothing to share….It was sooo small!

 You have to order in advance: the Kanjang Gejang marinated crabs $268. These were really good, the crab roe was beautifully marinated in chilli soy sauce dressing. Not everyone is a fan of these. But I found them delicious. Again, the price is for only one crab. But this was still more reasonable than the razor clams!

 The uni angel hair pasta $248 came next. The dish was actually quite delicious. A little under seasoned…but Table is an ingredient based place so I expected it to be light. The portion was again really really small.

The reality of when we all ate it…all of us were unanimously super disappointed. There’s so much pretty looking crab roe….but when you eat it- there was very little taste and such a lack of flavour…I was pretty shocked. When we asked for some vinegar (they actually gave us balsamic vinegar.) Perhaps I just had such high hopes for this place and I’m sad to say we were all just let down by the expensive pricing and small portion of this place. The service was really good. And some of the food was definitely super tasty. But when the main mud crab rice came out- it loooked soooooo beautiful but the taste was not there. The entire meal came to about $3200…..and most of us were still hungry! We had to eat afterwards…..If you know me, and you know my blog…I rarely ever, never write even a remotely negative post. Hopefully their portion sizes will be bigger, or maybe they were just having an off day. At the same time, other people who went had a great time and thought the food was great- this is again just my own experience. Don’t get me wrong. There were some nice things. But just the price and portion size was super off putting for us.
