TRi has an extraordinary interior deco that captures your imagination of a weekend escape to Bali--the lotus-shaped private tables, the bamboo shoots, the irregularly-shaped stone tables, all set against the backdrop of a (beautiful) beach. The line-up of rattan swing chairs combines rustic with comfort, simplicity with elegance. There's no way you could bring someone to this place without impressing them.I have been here more than half a dozen times now, mostly with family since last last year.

I have been here more than half a dozen times now, mostly with family since last last year. Based on my visits so far, I would rate TRi's food and service as very good and consistent. The price you pay for the quality of their ingredients is not competitive if you're thinking the city centre's similarly priced restaurants, but for Repulse Bay and the designer interior, it's just about right. The menu changes from time to time and while there are quite a few seafood dishes, I felt that the meaty and vegetarian dishes, appetizers included, were more remarkable. The first few times we came around, we were served a beautiful platter of sweet bites that I still crave. How I wish they'd continue to offer that or pop that onto the menu.

Recommended Dishes
Slow-cooked Angus Ribs, Beef Rendang, Potato Balado. Prices $80 to mid $300s.

Price Roughly $450 per head excluding drinks. No lunch sets, but a $580 brunch menu is available on weekends.

Beef Rendang (mid $200s) - Each Wagy beef cheek cut was top-notch quality with just the right amount of sticky collagen. The gravy was full of flavor--a curry-like blend of spices, chillies and coconut juice--lifting the beef cheeks from great to divine.

Scallop Mesanten (mid $200s) - These scallops are very fat and juicy, and are delightfully spiced with garlic and chillies. It's quite a delicious dish, just not that memorable.

Bumbu Prawns (roughly $300) - The prawns were actually quite bouncy
and fresh, with toppings that are refreshing and light. I particularly liked the spicy, mashy potato on top.
Potato Balado

Potato Balado (nearly $100) - This is a bowl of assorted potatoes with an interesting range of textures. I'm so hooked to the taste of the dish that I'm thinking it might be the primary one that keeps me coming back.

Slow-cooked Angus Ribs (mid $300s) - These were amazing--indulgent, melt-in-your-mouth tenderness with all the beef juices locked in. Mmm.

Beef and Chicken Skewers (roughly $200)
- Again, these were packed with umami. But, if you go off to one of the many Thai restaurants in Kowloon City, you could easily find similarly tasty skewers. Still, this was great, and skewers hardly go wrong!

Morning Glory (nearly $100) - Very nicely tossed dark greens with a light, savory and slightly spicy sauce. I love this and order it every time.

Seafood Nasi Goreng (mid $100s) - Decent but lacks the earthiness and smokiness of just-off-the-stove nasi goreng from roadside food stalls in Jakarta.

Coral Trout Red Kare (roughly $300) - This was totally disappointing, not least because its beautiful presentation led to unmet expectations. The flesh was dry and overcooked, and the accompanying sauce was quite tasteless. We all agreed this was the first and last time.

Lamb (nearly $300) - I forgot what this was called exactly. The lamb was very tender, but sadly had lost all its moisture. The flavors were pretty balanced, but even the toppings were quite dry. Not very memorable.

Lawar Salad (nearly $100) - A classic Indonesian salad - mix of chopped green beans, asparagus and grilled coconut - rich in spices and herbs. Crispy and fresh.
