An ode to Pondicherry (a former French colony in South India), Pondi is a small bistro hidden at the end of Fuk Sau Lane.  Explosion of flavours! An untypical take on beetroot salad, the earthiness from the beets was well-balanced by the creamy parsnip pureé underneath and the beautiful, fresh dill on top. 🌿

 Avocado 🥑 and so much more - unique spin on traditional street food Chaat. You can taste so much flavours and textures, especially with the punchy pomegranate and crisp papadums.

 Must try! It was actually my first time trying a gougère so I had no idea what to expect. The bread was homemade freshly baked, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. An easy 5/5 if it arrived earlier instead of at the end but still, what a treat!

🌱 Vegetarian friendly: Yes! A good portion of their menu is vegetarian (also some vegan and gluten-free options) 
🤩 Simple but effective menu, although the place was small but it felt intimate and cosy.

⭐️ Overall rating: 4.5/5

🤔 Revisit? Absolutely! I wish they would do brunch/ lunch as well.

    呢間前身叫Black Salt嘅小店，以前都係主打印法Fusion菜，座位好小，坐就一定唔會舒服，比較逼夾，不過嘢食水準都唔錯。轉咗手之後試吓，發現無咗brunch menu，只可以a la carte。Avocado Mess牛油果醬加上鷹嘴豆等配料，尚算清新開胃。Stuffed Calamari食落就係魷魚包免治豬肉，發揮正常。Slow Cooked Lamb Hindshank就真心唔太掂，首先肉質非常乾柴，而且醬汁死咸，原全食唔到羊肉味，再加上本身已經好咸嘅corned rump，原全只係得但咸字。同以前Black Salt比，水準實在差太遠，伏！This tiny restaurant was called Black Salt before. As my first time trying out the brunch at Pondi, we were informed that the brunch menu was no longer being served - hence, we could only order the a la carte menu. The avocado mess and stuffed calamari were okay - without any wow factors. The slow-cooked lamb hindshank was a huge disappointment: the lamb it self was extremely dry and tough. The sauce was really salty and overpowered the whole dish. And they even put corned rumps on top of the lamb!

      Didn't leave a review for my first visit because honestly was so hungry that night I didn't even remember to take photos - which means I also couldn't judge how good the food actually was.Needless to say my 2nd visit did not disappoint. When I sat down, their lovely server Brian who remembered me from my first visit told me that their menu had been updated since my previous meal.This time, we got the Avocado Mess (my personal fave), Asparagus & Fava Bean Fritters, Soft Shell Crab Cakes.Everythin

      This time, we got the Avocado Mess (my personal fave), Asparagus & Fava Bean Fritters, Soft Shell Crab Cakes.

      Everything was super flavourful, the service was great and honestly I have no complaints. This might even become a regular dinner place for us.
