今日約了朋友, 揀左喜喜冰室. 都係佢個"特餐"吸引我黎. 一間茶餐廳竟有如此西化既出品, 又唔係貴, 所以貪得意來試試.但似乎哩度除左特餐外就冇野出名.原本想叫兩個特餐, 可惜賣剩一個, 亦都慶幸我地要埋最後哩個於是另外叫左個白汁雞皇飯, 都要$4x先來一杯熱奶茶.第一次到茶餐廳係用方糖. 講真我咁大個人未試過用方糖...奶茶香濃, 但滑就不太滑.白汁雞皇飯$4x 茶餐廳來說較為細碟.配料較多, 食落啖啖都有紅椒黃椒, 雞只有數件白汁不錯, 不會太膩後上的特餐雞批浮台先叫定伙計不要落茄汁. 以免一失足成千古恨 (本人唔食茄汁)雞批大大件, 入面咸好多, 幾足料個批好鬆脆, 但就甜左些少, 甜到味道有點假...青豆湯好香豆味, 幾清新, 飲完都覺得健康d香蕉合桃pancake, 過左好耐先到哩個係全部野入面做得最唔錯既班軙好香, 好厚身, 仲好鬆軟, 口感不遂.個醬帶有蘋果玉桂味, 不太甜, 配搭非常好.這裡還是特餐最獨特最有可取之處, 下次黎都係食返特餐吧.但希望唔好再7點幾就賣晒.

白汁不錯, 不會太膩

先叫定伙計不要落茄汁. 以免一失足成千古恨 (本人唔食茄汁)
雞批大大件, 入面咸好多, 幾足料
個批好鬆脆, 但就甜左些少, 甜到味道有點假...
青豆湯好香豆味, 幾清新, 飲完都覺得健康d


香蕉合桃pancake, 過左好耐先到
哩個係全部野入面做得最唔錯既
班軙好香, 好厚身, 仲好鬆軟, 口感不遂.
個醬帶有蘋果玉桂味, 不太甜, 配搭非常好.

這裡還是特餐最獨特最有可取之處, 下次黎都係食返特餐吧.
但希望唔好再7點幾就賣晒.

Cafe Match Box has been the new kid on the block for a while offering so-called traditional Hong Kong style cuisine with a bit of a fusion twist and I finally got the chance to give it a try. Even the entire wait staff was dressed in checkered pants and white top as their uniform. Nice Touch! (Just a note: their services were great ... usually when I consider a place with great services so early in a review, there has to be something else "negative" to it! sigh ... )

The happy note ended right about ... now! The so-called special item, the Chicken Pot Pie in Pea Soup was ... very light in flavor and it wasn't as original as many might think. Alright it is original in terms of being served in a traditional Hong Kong style "cha chaan teng" but one may find great similarities to a Pie Floater widely available in Australia (or at least in the region of Wooloomooloo, NSW). (Thanks to Babedolphin for pointing this out to me.) The pea soup should be an additional source of flavor for the pie in my opinion but it just lacked the richness. Maybe that was the reason why they suggested us to use ketchup to go with the dish? The pie can be better in my opinion because it wasn't really served at optimal temperature, perhaps due to the time of day we arrived? (8pm)

The Chicken Pot Pie meal set actually came with Banana Pancakes (which was served at the same time as the pie). I have only one mouth so I will set the pancake aside for the time being until desert time. We also ordered Baked Ox Tongue Spaghetti with Tomato Sauce (with an extra egg!). However, I wish I did not order it. Usually when something like this is being served, my first reaction would be ... ouch, going to be very rich in flavor; but not here, I had to sprinkle more salt and pepper in order to get more taste out of the ever so lightly flavored tomato sauce on top of the very soft and mushy spaghetti. True that at Hong Kong style "cha chan teng", I should not be picky with their spaghetti because they are usually soft and mushy but not to this level of mushiness whereby you can simply use your tongue to mash them! Did I mention the few pieces of OX tongue was quite tough to chew? .... ON THE OTHER HAND, I am sure some people might enjoy the light flavors for various health and diet concerns but it wasn't for me I am sorry.

Alright, time to take a sip of coffee which was decent amongst similar joints.

Finally it was time for the dessert which was the Banana Pancake / hot cake served 15 mins ago. The pieces of hot cakes were relative tiny yet very thick. Sauce was thick as well and rather sweet for my liking. the walnuts gave the overall texture something of a kick but since it was served almost 15 mins ago (or more), the hot cakes were rather soggy. Perhaps you might want to eat the hot cakes first before the pea soup? Whatever you fancy but I rather they serve the hot cakes AFTER the savory dishes! As simple as that.

We really wanted to try some of the interesting desserts, fusion desserts to be exact (a Russian inspired cheese filled pancake/crepe? - thanks to Babedolphin again for the info), but we were informed that the pastry chef was off for the night. Come again? ... The very friendly and polite staff explained to us for an entire 3 mins regarding why the pastry chef was off and how they lacked staff so all kitchen staff needs to rotate their shifts accordingly. Very nice to know but still no desserts right? The staff was nice enough to offer each of us a bowl of soft ice cream without charge.

Oh by the way, anyone knows where I can get a warning sign like this? A warning against spitting? and the materials for the flooring? Those are classic flooring and would be cool to have!

-Warm Banana Hot Cakes / Pancakes - it should be served at the end of the meal and not before or during in my humble opinion. It turned cold and soggy unless you eat it first before your savory dishes.

味道幾好,不過食多幾啖, 都幾流略甜,
雞批浮台(青豆茸忌廉湯), 我覺得好正好得,
青豆茸勁茸, 雞批好香, 雞肉好新鮮好正好好味*(MUST TRY)

最後講嘢飲, 凍奶茶冇特別, 味道正常好一般, 尚算OK啦,
至於杯凍檸茶, 勁甜, 冇乜茶味, 完全唔得, 我飲3份1杯, NO GOOD (DON'T TRY)


環境裝修全部都係復刻版, 有懷舊FEEL,
座位勁細,檯仲細, 碟又大, 叫兩個餐都冇位擺,
坐得勁唔舒服, NO GOOD, 服務唔得啲伙計冇乜禮貌!

雞批浮台(青豆茸忌廉湯)係得呢個要試, 其他嘢食大家可以唔使試!

大家好,這是小妹第一次寫食評啊,多多指教試後和友人到中上環拍照,一早便在openrice找到這間懷舊冰室決定一試。早前tvb千奇百趣介紹的神奇熱狗機那間餐廳! 不過我們點了兩個餐已經吃得太飽,所以沒點到熱狗,下次必定再試!特餐:香蕉pancake,雞批浮台(青豆忌廉湯),飲品 $39懷舊茶餐:牛油多士,火腿炒蛋/煎蛋,叉燒湯意,飲品 $33雞批浮台 青豆味極香濃,不像街上一般餐廳的"滾水湯",愛好豆者一定喜歡!很特別,但也很飽肚。banana pancake極力推薦!!暫時是小妹嘗過最好的!還可以吃到香蕉碎,看得出很用心之作!!牛油多士多士烘得香脆,奶油夠多! 完全拍得上澳洲牛奶公司的多士,bravo!整體食物中上,有特色,店舖裝潢充滿懷舊味道,我想這是時下香港人閒時休息的好地方。而且價錢公道,最重要的是老闆和侍應招呼周到用心,真的要說句「有錢都買吾到啦!」

青豆味極香濃,不像街上一般餐廳的"滾水湯",愛好豆者一定喜歡!很特別,但也很飽肚。

多士烘得香脆,奶油夠多! 完全拍得上澳洲牛奶公司的多士,bravo!

整體食物中上,有特色,店舖裝潢充滿懷舊味道,我想這是時下香港人閒時休息的好地方。
而且價錢公道,最重要的是老闆和侍應招呼周到用心,真的要說句「有錢都買吾到啦!」

Just came here for dinner. Was anxious to try this HK style cafe. The decor is very cute with the blue themed tiles; mirrors; old-school TV; ceiling fans; stained glass lights; old-school green window shades; and other HK style knick knacks everywhere. Seating is best/most spacious in the booths. Food: In terms of value, its best to order the combos which are like $33 or $38 for lunch/dinner. This compares to a milk tea which a la carte would cost $18 and a noodle a la carte for around $38 o

Food: In terms of value, its best to order the combos which are like $33 or $38 for lunch/dinner. This compares to a milk tea which a la carte would cost $18 and a noodle a la carte for around $38 or so. There's also a variety of breakfast combos as well.

Special combo (Chicken pie immersed in green pea soup; Banana walnut pancakes in caramel sauce; Choice of tea/coffee for $38)

Chicken pie...: the crust on this was superb, similar to the crust on their egg tarts. Inside was a small helping of chicken/ham. the pea soup was also good too and paired well with the bites of chicken pie. this was surprisingly good.

Pancakes: Delicious and everything worked well w/ each other! Took longer for this order to arrive since it is made fresh. The pancakes came with 2 thick ones stacked on top of each other. Diced bananas and walnuts on top with a caramel sauce drizzled everywhere. I preferred the thickness of the pancakes, made the entire thing taste like a dessert.

Milk tea: the standard HK style. need to add sugar cubes your own from their own sugar cube tin on each table.

Fried chicken drumstick with fruit salad: This was okay. I liked the crispiness of the skin and the seasoning on it. The chicken meat was also tasty, although some parts were drier than others.

Pork liver ramen: I loved the broth in this - not the soup base from the ramen pack, but a in-house made liver broth that was oozing with the pork liver flavor. Funny thing, I loved the broth and ramen, but I personally am not a fan of liver, so I ate everything but the liver, which I felt bad about. There were also pieces of diced ginger and green peas in the soup. Ramen came with the packaged soup base and sesame oil on the side in case you want to further flavor/customize the taste, but in my opinion the broth can hold its own.

Egg sandwich: Yum, generous portions of scrambled egg, slightly oozy. Good deal for $18.

Service: Much better service than the standard HK cafe with a good number of waiters around. Cute outfits with white shirts and checkered blue themed pants which matched with the overall decor. English menus available, but does not include all the good combos, recommendations, or specialties. Accepts credit card.

Sizing it up: Very refreshing to find a themed HK style cafe with good food at a fair price (I came with a very hungry friend so meal ended up to be $140 total). I find it more homey and at a better pace than the usual Tsui Wah which is overwhelming and too bustling at times. Also the menu offerings has all the good craved HK basics but also has enough unique offerings that make it stand out from the crowd. Was a pleasant visit, will come again.

Once you set foot in Cafe Match-Box, you feel strongly the atmosphere they try to convey. The decoration, music, equipment and uniform tell you that you are at the 80s. It reminds me the Starbuck at Central with the same decoration. I'd say the atmosphere is a bit over to me, but coming here once in a while would be nice to feel nostalgic.About the food, they serve tradtional food you would expect from a 'ice-room' and some more 'refined' ones, like日本出前一丁公仔麵. About the food, they serve tradtional food you would expect from a 'ice-room' and some more 'refined' ones, like日本出前一丁公仔麵. I ordered fried eggs, roasted pork spagetthis, and milk tea. They food is solid and nicely prepared in a efficient manner. Despite all these plus sides, the main reason that you should come back is that they would not urge you to leave. That is probably the only thing they fail to mimic from the old 'ice room' (澳洲牛奶公司)

今日特登同c6 去喜喜試下!下午1時許, 可能假期關係, 全店幾乎滿座...先說服務..真的唔錯...有禮貌, 不會黑口黑面...連收銀的阿姐也非常友菩, 低讚!再說食物, 一份特餐 + 一份炒蛋多士 $39+18 = $571. 青豆湯味濃, 沒有草青味, 雞批皮餡都好味..兩者加在一起我可以接受, 不過c6 就又有點不慣...咿咿呀呀...(值得一提, 侍應會問加茄汁否? 其實真難想像咸的青豆湯+雞批, 再+酸的茄汁會是甚麼味道?), 直覺完全覺得唔match...2. 合桃香蕉pancake, 整體很好, 個汁配香蕉好味, pancake 真的吃到蛋香, 唔錯!3. 炒蛋多士 - 相對就差了點..炒蛋過熟, 雖然仍滑, 但沒有蛋汁 (澳洲牛奶較好)多士分2件, 薄薄的, 不夠外脆內軟...(又係澳洲牛奶較好)...還有一點, 似乎太多蚊滋, 衛生仍要改善!另外價錢真的偏貴, 雖然比初期已減了價, 但始終賣的不是貴價野..差不多$40 一碟通粉, $50一碗日本一丁面...誰可以成日光顧, 去日式超市買一pack 5 包日本一丁才$30多...原因應該歸咎於舖租太貴, 那個地段在c

今日特登同c6 去喜喜試下!
下午1時許, 可能假期關係, 全店幾乎滿座...
先說服務..真的唔錯...有禮貌, 不會黑口黑面...連收銀的阿姐也非常友菩, 低讚!

再說食物, 一份特餐 + 一份炒蛋多士 $39+18 = $57
1. 青豆湯味濃, 沒有草青味, 雞批皮餡都好味..兩者加在一起我可以接受, 不過c6 就又有點不慣...咿咿呀呀...

(值得一提, 侍應會問加茄汁否? 其實真難想像咸的青豆湯+雞批, 再+酸的茄汁會是甚麼味道?), 直覺完全覺得唔match...
2. 合桃香蕉pancake, 整體很好, 個汁配香蕉好味, pancake 真的吃到蛋香, 唔錯!

3. 炒蛋多士 - 相對就差了點..
炒蛋過熟, 雖然仍滑, 但沒有蛋汁 (澳洲牛奶較好)
多士分2件, 薄薄的, 不夠外脆內軟...(又係澳洲牛奶較好)...

還有一點, 似乎太多蚊滋, 衛生仍要改善!
另外價錢真的偏貴, 雖然比初期已減了價, 但始終賣的不是貴價野..
差不多$40 一碟通粉, $50一碗日本一丁面...
誰可以成日光顧, 去日式超市買一pack 5 包日本一丁才$30多...
原因應該歸咎於舖租太貴, 那個地段在cwb 可算一級...
個人覺得若選址近天后/灣仔, or cwb 一些比較平租的地方, 租金平點, 食物價格低少少,
才會令人再次光顧...現在的價錢真的大把其他選擇..

Comment: Surprise surprise - from the outside to the inside. Ooh and aah - from decor to food. Did G.O.D. refurbish this place? No i dont think so but not surprised if they did. When did i last walk into the past? Probably at Luk Yu Tea House or Lin Heung Lau where there's never any seat avail. If you don't go for the food, then go just for a cuppa tea and wonder at the walls. Nothing spectacular, and yet it feels special. Typical of cha chan tengs, you leave the premise with smelly clothes and hair. Must try the $39 特餐 instead of a-la-carte which will cost more than double.
Conclusion: Cheap n hip hang out for tea at cwb

上次揀錯野食,耿耿於懷,今日一定要食番晒去!六點九,無乜人客。可能好多人都覺得,呢度唔係食dinner既好地方??叫左個特餐。雞批浮台,(此食法參照澳洲人!)青豆湯,一入口就是食白切雞時,點的薑蔥蓉味,不過係杰版本。好正!成份其實係用青豆、薯仔、薑做出來。雞批好鬆化,好似食曲奇餅咁!雞肉餡企理,不會一pet pet。原來雞批係由經驗老師傅做的!香蕉克戟,咁細件既....!與汁比例不成正比。香蕉汁由香蕉、雪糕、合桃、拖肥醬做成,稍為甜左D。不過拖肥與香蕉味道好出。克戟鬆軟如吃新鮮出爐的scone,好香牛油+煎香的味道,質地不「立」口。西多,蘸蛋漿+肉桂粉和橙汁煎既。輕微食到橙汁味,玉桂味欠奉。西多用「煎」的方法,無咁油。不過感覺就唔似食緊西多,似食緊甜方包,因為太軟綿綿喇~喜喜既野食,非常啱我胃口,同埋食得出佢,唔係求其整,係有研究過!

....!與汁比例不成正比。香蕉汁由香蕉、雪糕、合桃、拖肥醬做成,稍為甜左D。不過拖肥與香蕉味道好出。克戟鬆軟如吃新鮮出爐的scone,好香牛油+煎香的味道,質地不「立」口。
西多,蘸蛋漿+肉桂粉和橙汁煎既。輕微食到橙汁味,玉桂味欠奉。西多用「煎」的方法,無咁油。不過感覺就唔似食緊西多,似食緊甜方包,因為太軟綿綿喇~

在無X電視介紹後,一心以為可以食得到一個內裏香脆的穿洞熱狗,怎知拿到的熱狗的包是冷的,內裏也完全不是脆的,而且更不對辦的是電視中看到是有青瓜和蘿蔔的,但是就完全不見有,我問過賣熱狗的哥哥,話已經改良了,所以無青瓜和蘿蔔。總之完全貨不對辦。無下次!

這是小妹第一篇食評。要不是因為有了新相機要帶它四周去,都不會有動力寫下食評。這天因為計劃好外出拍攝,同事介紹的喜喜冰室成為我第一點。浦進店,地方原來不太大。坐下來看著餐牌可是很惱,那時十二時多,其實相比外面的餐廳,餐牌的選擇不是太多。一心都只是想嚐招牌菜,要是單點個雞批浮台又太不付經濟原則,單點一份都要三十二元。侍應哥哥推介特餐,便宜一點。特餐有雞批浮台,合桃香蕉班戟,還有一杯茶。就是感覺得很飽肚到不行了…其實除了雞批浮台,還想試雞批和午餐。最後還是點了一份特餐。雞批浮台來了,青豆忌廉湯不是太CREAMY。很多人都怕或討厭青豆,討厭它的味道。其實我都不多吃青豆,偶爾只會吃幾顆,可是這個青豆湯卻不令人討厭,它的青豆味不重,幸好有忌廉的混和,所以很易入口; 這個湯雖有忌廉,但不會太膩,別以為它像一般的忌廉湯一樣,進口裡會有點酸的感覺,大概就是青豆磨後的石蓉味,那種酸其實是青豆的鮮草感,混合了忌廉後,那種『草』的味道不過份,湯還有小粉粒的感覺,那應該就是磨溶後的青豆蓉。配上足料的雞批,一個CREAMY一邊鹹,還好。侍應哥哥會問你需要茄汁嗎?我說要點。看他一支茄汁直插進雞批正中心,茄汁在裡到湧

雞批浮台來了
,青豆忌廉湯不是太CREAMY。很多人都怕或討厭青豆,討厭它的味道。其實我都不多吃青豆,偶爾只會吃幾顆,可是這個青豆湯卻不令人討厭,它的青豆味不重,幸好有忌廉的混和,所以很易入口
; 這個湯雖有忌廉,但不會太膩,別以為它像一般的忌廉湯一樣,進口裡會有點酸的感覺,大概就是青豆磨後的石蓉味,那種酸其實是青豆的鮮草感,混合了忌廉後,那種『草』的味道不過份,湯還有小粉粒的感覺,那應該就是磨溶後的青豆蓉。配上足料的雞批,一個CREAMY一邊鹹,還好。侍應哥哥會問你需要茄汁嗎?我說要點。看他一支茄汁直插進雞批正中心,茄汁在裡到湧到外。我能感受到侍應哥哥的不孖夫。可是吃著,還是覺得不加茄汁會比較好,口裡頓時充斥著三種味覺,感覺不算太好受。CREAMY鮮草青豆湯味、雞批那適當的鹹、還有那點綴雞批的茄汁酸?未免太多了吧?那茄汁是不必要的,如果硬說吃雞批要點茄汁的話那便只單點雞批,青豆湯變得沒意思了…加上茄汁味太搶,蓋過了青豆湯和雞批混和的味道,不好。

合桃香蕉班戟
,看上去份量剛好,其實吃完雞批浮台已經滿足(飽)得要命,這個班戟其實吃不下了…三塊厚厚的班戟,味道交足功課,整體來說都很美味。單點糖醬吃都覺得不錯,還有香蕉,合格有餘。然而說真的不能整個吃完,這個班戟在七成下還是放棄好了。

奶茶倒算不俗,合格的
。然我認為茶膽可以再濃多一點。(當然,我不能否認這可能跟我不停拍照沒熱上就喝有關,怎樣都放涼了…)

總括來說,單論這個特餐的質素算不錯。至少我會再光顧,不單因為這個餐,是因為我還想試吃其他有名的菜。而女孩子,除非是超級黑洞,一個特餐其實可以兩份分,不浪費之餘也可以剛好。

侍應不多,可是大部份都很熱情,好HELPFUL。也許他們已經習慣了客人不停拍照,見慣不怪。伙計哥哥還叫我拍這個拍那個,更叫我到洗手間拍照去…在店內,有一種熱鬧的氣氛,人人都會看著餐牌煩惱吃什麼,因為招牌菜有好幾款,就會好像我這樣左想右想,就只是單點菜都看著餐牌商量了三五十分鐘。再者,人人都會拿著手機,相機拍個不停。沒錯,店子是有特色的。近來就是興VINTAGE
,懷舊復古就很有味道。但要一提,這店是時尚的懷舊,新穎的復古,要是整店都是經歷過風霜的『舊』,會更有味道;因為這是推砌出來的『懷舊』。

順帶一提,糖盅都是很懷舊感,一粒粒的,要是像我這種拒絕多甜的人就煩惱了,好難少找到一粒較小的糖。

綜合來說,這個特餐和午餐都值得(價錢方面),可是看到餐牌,早餐則比較貴了。
