Tung Chung and its surrounding neighborhoods have a lot to offer such as shopping and outlet malls, hiking tracks, and temples as well as other tourist drags like the cable cars, Big Buddha and Disneyland, not to forget the nearby airport and the new housing estates in the area. 

The Place: “Mansarover” offers Indian fusion cuisine and is located around five minutes drive from Tung Chung MTR station. The restaurant was named after a holy pilgrim place for Hindu’s (Mansarover Lake - a freshwater lake in Tibet) where Lord Shiva, who is the most important Hindu God and the creator of Yoga, is being cherished.

“Mansarover” is situated just off one of Tung Chung's main roads and right next to Tung Chung Fort (which is another great tourist spot). The restaurant cannot be spotted from the main road, so it is best to get there using the restaurants’ free shuttle-bus service or by using your own means of transportation (free parking is provided) though there would be a bus stop directly in front. 

This restaurant does not just offer superb food from a renowned Hong Kong chef who used to work for big names such as Peninsula, Maxim, Sheraton, Renaissance and Langham, but also a charming atmosphere in a great location with inside and covered outside seating (including an effective heater for colder days).

“Mansarover” is ideal for people that adore authentic Indian cuisine and like to have it in a more natural environment; I believe that this place is just perfect for the real-deal Indian food-lovers, couples in love, and active families - as a visit to this place can conveniently be combined with a shopping stroll, some sightseeing and to top it all up, there is a children’s playground right in front of the place so that you can nip on a Mango Lassi or have a pint of Cobra while keeping an eye on your kids.

Chef Kumar grew up in the northern part of India - a hillstation called “Masuri” where he also learnt how to cook; his ancestors used to have an Indian restaurant there where they served their dishes to tourists and some of Masuri’s 2,000 guesthouses. Chef Kumar has not only acquired the necessary cooking skills at an early age, but also perfectionized them by working as a Sous Chef for 5-Star-Hotels prior to realizing his dream of having his own restaurant (Mansarover was opened early 2012). His family currently owns two restaurants in Hong Kong, one led by his elder son Sunny in Tsuen Wan (Baba's Station), and the second run by Chef Kumar and his younger son Eshant in Tung Chung (Mansarover). 

The Food & Beverage: When we first arrived, we grabbed some chairs and sat outside to enjoy the afternoon sun. After some chitty chatting with all the staff we got quite hungry and went for all the signature dishes that were recommended to us plus our all-time favorites, as follows:

9) Chicken Korma (with cashew nuts, almonds, raisins) --> my friends absolute favorite! Loved it too though

10) Saag Paneer (I know it as Palak Paneer; home-made cottage cheese, fresh spinach) --> absolutely yummy – the best one I’ve ever had so far! Very creamy yet light, and fresh!

11) Chicken Biryani (spicy chicken with basmati rice, fried) --> very good too; It was (s)lightly fried, and though we had eaten a lot of food when this dish arrived, it was easy to eat, not stuffing or too filling;

12) Vegetable Samosas (fried; filled with peas and potatoes) --> yummy especially with the Tamarind sauce

The food was prepared and presented with love and dedication using finest ingredients; I was curious and asked where the ingredients are sourced from and have been told that all spices directly come from India while the meat comes from New Zealand (lamb) and the US (chicken).

I am very fond of Indian cuisine and have traveled extensively, but I was astonished by the way the spices and thoroughly fresh ingredients blended in. My taste buds went absolutely crazy with regards to the Chicken Korma, Saag Paneer, and even though it does not seem to be so difficult to make – the Naan. “Mansarover” use a Tandoori oven (import product from India) that positively reflects on the taste of every single item that is cooked in there.

Chef Kumar just knows how to please his guests.

The portions were plenty, and we definitely ordered too many different dishes. As we were too full to finish all of our food, so we decided - and did not feel embarrassed at all - to take all left overs home to have a second round of Curries and Biryani at a later stage.

Unfortunately we were not able to try desserts such as Gulab Jamun this time, but for next time, I’ll go for that for sure, and I already know that I won’t be disappointed.

The Price: Prices were reasonable. A lunch set for instance Indian Thali, Kebab Roll, Fried Rice or else - including a drink - costs between 55-58HKD; dinner obviously depends on what exactly one chooses and how much is consumed, but I guess that it’d be around 100-150HKD/person.

As mentioned before, the restaurant offers a free shuttle service from Tung Chung MTR station, and free parking for guests; if one wants to be picked up from other locations, a pick up charge will apply which is fair too (40HKD from airport, 60HKD from Disneyland, 90HKD from Lantau itself).

The restaurant also delivers food and offers catering services; prices for these services depend on location and quantity; 

Bottom-Line: I loved the food, I loved the location (though at the beginning when we stood at the car park I was not quite convinced that we’d be going to a decent place, but I changed my mind pretty soon after), the staff was really really friendly and super accommodating and also spreading their passion (and even sharing their recipes), the atmosphere was really relaxing – I just loved to be able to sit outside, enjoy the fresh air, watch some people walk by, stare at the Fort etc.; the only thing that was actually negative, which was most probably just bad luck, was that the water in the toilet sink was stuck; right after I mentioned this issue, the problem was solved; I guess this can be totally overlooked; 

I will surely be back soon, and bring all my Indian friends as well as the ones that are into Indian food with me to try Chef Kumar’s cuisine. Thank you all!!!!

It was a pleasant dinner with restaurant pick up from Tung Chung Station Exit A. Me and my friend were a bit surprise when we reach the restaurant. Restaurant is kinda secluded so I will recommend for a pick up for your first visit to avoid frustration looking for the restaurant when you are hungry . We waited for about 20 minutes for our food to be serve, it was busy dinner hour and many delivery order to be cater too as well. We were alright with the waiting time and slowly wait for our food w

Food were delicious. We order Gosht Masala (Lamb), Chicken Tikka Masala (Restaurant's special), Garlic Naan and Butter Naan. It was awesome !! I miss indian food so much since I come to Hong Kong. In Malaysia, we could get indian food at any "mamak" but not in Hong Kong.

Dont put too much of expectation on environment. For me its a bit warm due to the season and whether. Despite that, this place is so recommended!!! Try taking some spicy indian food, it will taste so much better!

There are not many choices of Indian food in Lantau Island. This one is obviously an option among the few choices. The restaurant is in a village along Tung Chung Road and it's not easy to describe the exact location. If finding by digital map, you can start searching by entering the keyword "Tung Chung Public School". The restaurant is almost there. There are two landmarks -- a bus stop and Auxiliary Medical Service Tung (Tung Chung Office), a 3-level building with red edges. There is an entry next to the bus stop. drivers can drive the car inside and park the cars. It's heard that customers may contact the restaurant to arrange transportation. Not a bad idea!

I visited the restaurant at about 9pm on Saturday night. Not many customers were there. I knew the restaurant from OpenRice. There were not many reviews but in general positive. Hence I had an expectation of decent food.

For starter, a paratha was given for free and I ordered a dish of samosa. Paratha was surprisingly not crispy enough, and so was the deep fried samosa pastry. Not for the whole pieces but for the last bit, I found it's chewy. I suspected some problems with the pastry or oil temperatue. The filling was good but I expected more spicy.

The main dishes were Garlic Chicken Tikka and Prawn Makhani. The favour of both dishes was not as strong as I expected, especially the chicken tikka. I was not sure if I had made a wrong order from the beginning. That's just not what I was looking for. The good point was that the ingredients looked good. The chicken meat was soft and juicy. We dipped the curry with a plain naan. My friend also ordered a glass of lime soda. She made a joke that the drink had the strongest taste among all.

Tonight it seemed that the resturant had received a large order of naan. A lot of naans were put ontables outside to cool down and dry. However, they were put on top of pieces of newspaper. That might not be very acceptable to Hong Kong people in terms of hygiene. The kichen inside was nowhere better. The washroom's hygiene was disappointing, which was inconvenient for female customers. I hope the owner can pay attention to these.

Most seatings are outdoor with a shelter. The environment is silent and nice when the weather is nice. Considering the humid weather in Hong Kong, it may not be a good idea for rainy days. The waiters and waitresses are friendly. A good experience overall.

The menu includes North and South Indian dishes including Bayranis, Madras curries and Vindaloo dishes. The Vindaloo chicken was hot and spicy as derired and the chicken was soft and tasty. The food is aromatic and well spiced with both mild and spicy dishes on offer, a cut above standard HK Indian restaurants. The location at Tung Chung Fort has a nice, simple village atmosphere.

至於 Virgin Coladar 當然是暫時不 "好" 酒的 "寬粉王" 之選,獨愛雞尾酒的她對印度餐廳的 Virgin Coladar 也十分滿意。

第二道前菜是炸洋葱,是 "廚哥安迪" 的喜好!從小到大就是不愛洋葱,生洋葱更是點滴不沾,但此洋葱清新香甜得令我驚喜,細看洋葱有點露了出來,原來是漂亮的紫洋葱,加上鬆脆的炸漿,吃著有種愉快的感覺,原來 "廚哥安迪" 在英國時也經常以印度炸洋葱作為小食,怪不得他老是笑容滿臉!

薯餅採用了輕煎的方法,咬下去比一般綿綿的薯仔蓉更有層次感,不曉得會否與釀上芝士有關,但肯定當薯蓉遇上芝士已屬美妙的結合。怎料廚師認為更要錦上添花,薯餅面上放上印度人喜愛的 Tangy Yoghurt 與 Tamarind Chutney。印度人自制的 Tangy Yoghurt 會在奶中加上不同的香料調製,當晚 Yoghurt 的特別之處未被舌頭感認出來,但 Tamarind Chutney 恰似茄汁的味道卻是印象深刻。 Tamarind Chutney 其實是用酸豆與多種香料烹調出來,不是太甜,帶點香與酸,跟 Tangy Yoghurt 混合,質感暢滑,醒神開胃,這個 Sauce 真是很不錯。

此刻 Mansarover 為我們提早送上家鄉甜品,印度老闆的港人媳婦謂 Doda Barfi 由一位 Uncle 從印度帶回港,她的印度老公每天吃過不停,誠意的與我們分享。我們想印度人對甜醋愛,甜度一定驚人,不敢寄予厚望。但人口卻出乎意料的好,不是太甜,口感柔軟、 黏黏糯糯,一陣薄薄的朱古力味,加上面層脆口的開心果及果仁的香氣,無疑是一個口感與味道及新意俱備的甜品

老闆說材料是牛奶、沙糖、果仁及小許印度香料,絕對不含朱古力,頓時跌得一地破眼鏡。

跟著我們要了三道 Tandoori 菜式,三道菜式香氣依然迫人,但食味均達不到前次的水準,大抵是醃製時間太長,味道有點過鹹,而且肉質也被醃得有點變粗了。

上圖是 Tandoori Prawn,由於每日供應量有限,所以是提前預定的。 除了味道過濃外,蝦硬硬的,失去應有的爽勁與彈性,顯然也過熟了。

下圖是 Tandoori Pumfret,味道是三者中最輕、效果最佳的。倉魚採用炭燒,沒想過印度菜的燒魚能保持如斯細嫩的肉質。

大家都愛印度餅,就先來一個 Plain Naan Bread,由於前次的 Naan Bread 不夠新鮮,因此老公跟印度老闆溝通過,今次的 Naan Bread 不止熱騰騰,還口感鬆軟有序,質量極佳!

燴菠菜芝士是挑選自 "尾尾",獲得大家一致好評。入口 Creamy 不膩,泛著菠菜香氣,當中更夾雜了的 Cottage Cheese 粒,為平順的質感型造多一份煙韌的層次。Cottage Cheese 的口感與別不同,內裡是一層一層溶岩般重叠著,最初以為芝士經過烹調加熱後的效果,一問才能知是自家製的 Cottage Cheese。印度人不單自己做 Yoghurt,連芝士也自己動手,真厲害!

右邊的是 Mansarover 的 Signature Dish 牛油雞,是印度老闆的信心推介。 黃色的汁料做得十分出色,入口流暢順滑,牛油、蕃茄蓉與多種印度香料帶出不再是辛辣濃烈的食味,反之是温柔具多層次的滋味。而雞肉是無骨雞的,經一晚 Yoghurt、香料及辣椒等醃製,肉質滑溜,味道温和,與汁料風格一致。

左邊的 Murgh Vindaloo,中文名為巴辣雞,是印度菜式中數一數二具辣度的菜式,是我們當晚的挑戰。侍應告知可調較較低的辣度,但我們堅持 Original Taste。紅紅的汁料中就只有雞件及薯仔,我連續吃了幾口,勉強抵住了辣度,但一停下來,嘴唇馬上變得火熱及漲紅起來,跟著舌底有點兒發燙,論威力及難受程度絕對遜於李家 Chicken 的鳳爪,老公、"廚哥安迪" 和我是吃得最多的, 愛辣的 "寬粉王" 似乎受不了印度的辣,吃了一點便放棄了。"尾尾" 也是吃了一點,顯然沒有了辣鳳爪的幹勁。"野蠻女友" 怕了,只看著我們吃。其實 Murgh Vindaloo 除辣外亦具備多層次的味道,所以比光是純粹一味的辣更為可取,稍休一會便再拿出勇氣來再嚐幾口。

為解 Murgh Vindaloo 之辣作好準備,事先要來了 Pineapple Raita。原味 Yoghurt 加上醃製過的菠蘿,味道清清是解辣的好幫手。

侍應專程為我們送上 Mango Jelly。跟常吃的 Mango Jelly 絕對不一樣,印式的 Jelly 無論質感與味道與港式燒鵝的梅子醬很相像,稠度則更勝一籌。不過濃濃稠稠的味道確是異常的解辣。

為了牛油雞和 Murgh Vindaloo 的汁料,上圖的印度餅一再出籠。要了 Garlic 味道與及 Potato 餡料,依然是熱燙燙,味道恰好,但用來沾汁料的話,Plain Naan Bread 是最佳的選擇。

老公要了下圖的 Indian Saffron Rice,根據菜牌資料是依足古法食譜炮製。印度米雖沒有彈性,但由於質感不粗糙,滲透著一種誘人的清新香氣,這是首次被印度黃飯打動內心,之前並未嚐過這般美味的印度飯。

最後餐廳送予我們印度雪糕,這趟沒有了藏紅花醬汁,但開心果與果仁的味道仍然是相當的香濃,人家的一番美意,更是甜在心裡。

一頓晚餐加深了對印度菜的興趣,他們巧妙的香料運用,與及對奶類的廣泛使用,絕對有著博大精深飲食文化的支撐,以後還得多多去研究。

多謝 Mansarover 老闆及老闆媳婦及侍應等工作人員的招呼與慷慨,給我們分享了不少特別的食物,老闆更與老公一同喝印度的 Whisky。更多謝各位好友不嫌長途跋從城市跑到東涌這個鄉村來,讓我對一直朝思暮想、期待又期待的天湖再一次的探索。

印度是我其中一個響往旅遊的國家,唯身邊人對她不太感興趣!而 Lake Mansarover 卻是一個憑形容與想像,也可將一幅幅美境拼砌於心上的地方。Mansarover 是世界上最高及被形容為 "巨湖" 的湖泊, 處於 Mt. Kailash 4,558米高的位置。而 Mt. Kailash 是西藏境內一座 高山,高 22,022呎。可以想像 Lake Mansarover 背靠愷愷白雪的山峰,背景盡是蔚籃澄空;湖水冬天結冰、春天溶化,湖裡滿載了活魚與天鵝,Lake Mansarover 這樣的世外桃園,不僅是印度教、藏傳佛教等宗教的神聖之地,連我這個庸人也望有幸能沐浴於湖水中接受 "救贖"。 東涌的 Mansarover 環境肯定難與 Lake Mansarover 媲美,但清幽的戶外座位,也不失為遠離繁喧、享有自然的氣息的地方。帳篷給10號強風吹毁了,暫由紅白籃來頂替吧,加添了本土玩味。餐廳面積細小,只能容納3張4人桌子,但小朽的印北掛畫、燈飾等卻充滿了印式風格,暫且放下傳統印菜的金碧輝煌,換來是少有的和諧温馨感覺,莫非印北也是同樣的氣息。抵達時餐廳座位全滿,被安排到帳篷下的座位,

曾嚐過香港大、小印度餐廳的醬汁,並沒有留下深刻的印象。 Mansarover 的醬汁是自製的,帶給我新的感受。最喜歡由醬瓜、香草、蕃茄、紅蘿蔔製成橙紅的醬汁,可嚐到粒狀的醬瓜,層次分明,味道酸酸鹹鹹非常的開胃;粉綠色的是由薄荷葉、乳酪和糖調製出來,質感幼滑,薄荷葉味不是太濃,跟乳酪很合拍,效果清新。至於第三種,是不太懂得欣賞的印味,有待味蕾日後開發吧。

原本欲嘗 Tandore Lamb,但已沽清。退而求其次要是味道較類近的串燒羊肉。鄰座的印藉朋友要了 Tandore Chicken,侍應傳遞經過時,鐵板 "咋咋" 作響與撲鼻的濃香,引得老公走到人家面前寒暄了幾句,印度朋友撐場的回應 "Everything is Good Here".

我們的串燒羊肉沒有 "咋咋" 的聲音,相比之下香氣則較温和,下次誓要預訂那令人投以羨慕眼光的 Tandore Chicken。羊肉肉質柔軟、多汁、富有印式香料味道,由於調味不是死濃死鹹,因此同時也可嚐到羊肉的鮮味,確是不錯!

數來數去只有魚塊及小蝦兩味的雜錦咖喱海鮮,賣點肯定不是海鮮,而是咖喱汁。味道調配很温順、香料與咖喱味道平衡恰好,咖喱底滑溜,老公忍不住多叫了白飯。

送來的 Naan Bread 似乎沒有生氣,不是平日熱呼呼、漲卜卜的模樣。一吃之下,質感果真有點韌,應該不是新鮮的製作。

飯後我們跟印度老闆談及此 Naan Bread,他試食後也同意質量不對勁,並示意即時更換予我們,我倆立即推卻,因為此時已肚飽了,他叮囑下次遇到同樣的情況可立即與職員提出,誠意可嘉!

焗茄子是蓉狀的,混合了洋葱碎、香草等,入口飽滿滑溜,富有一份特別的香氣。

留意到餐牌有一個 "Must Try" 的自家製甜品,主材料是果仁、開心果及奶的印度雪糕,印度人一向喜歡果仁。

賣相有點怪怪的,旁邊放了藏紅花做的甜醬汁。入口全是果仁碎粒,開心果香味尤為強烈,可能奶的用量不多,質感倒有點像 Sherbet,藏紅花醬不是太甜,帶有清清的花香,對我來說也很受落,把雪糕輕輕的沾上,更可突出果仁的香氣。喜歡果仁的朋友不妨一試。

從菜式的食味,感覺到印北菜較印南菜為温和、不太辛辣,味道順喉,兼擁有一種平實的風格。不知怎的我總將印北菜與 Lake Mansarover 扯在一起,可能兩者同給我一種舒服祥和的感覺吧。

印北是店主的家鄉,Mansarover 是由他們一家落手落腳地經營著,兒子、媽媽、香港媳婦均是非常的好客、温柔、親切,媽媽還問我有否到過印度,我回答得有點羞愧!

题外话/补充资料: 正組織一頓 Mansarover 飯餐,屆時可盡嘗店主為我們準備的印北味道,感受一下 "Everything is Good" 的精髓。

飯後甜品:

kesar pista badam kulfi 印度雪糕

其實本身我仲想叫 kear pista kheer 印度米布丁,但就今日冇得order, 呢2個都一定要試下!!
印度雪糕有濃郁的奶味, 唔會好甜, 口感就唔會好似普通雪糕好soft,
對於我唔太鍾意食雪糕既, 呢個好岩我 !!

:今曰父親節一家四口去完360之後,係東涌地鐵站b出口旅遊巴旁邊見到有廣告牌,就打比佢地問點去 ,老細好好人叫車黎接我地,大約十分鐘車程到達!環境好舒服,好寧靜!!之後印度靚仔幫我地拍板叫左大約六至七樣餸,當中我食左三款薄餅,三款都好好味,!!極力推介-蔥油簿餅!!!,而牛油串燒雞,同蕃茄湯最為自己心水,而爸爸喜歡食羊,靚仔就叫左個馬沙拉羊比佢,食到爸爸津津樂道!!而甜品就係好出名-印度雪糕~比一般雪糕奶味會重小小,但好值得一試!!見到爸爸同媽咪開心既樣,都知道依餐好岩佢地兩老!!值得!! :

We like indian food and have tried many indian restaurant before including Gaylord, jojo, Chung king mansion ones. This restaurant is surely above standard!They are located far from Tung Chung MTR but they will arrange free transfer from taxi stand at MTR station.We ordered chicken tikka, lamb masala, curry prawns, garlic nan and pashwari nan, and two glasses of Pinot noir.Tikka is tender and juicy, herbs just right, served on 鐵板, very tasty.
