After finishing dinner at Causeway Bay with a few visiting friends, we decided to grab some drinks somewhere nearby. I've heard of Seafood Room prior to this, had a friend highly recommend me this place for both its stunning view and for being relatively quiet during the weekdays - her favourite place for drinks in DimSumland apparently. After finishing dinner at Causeway Bay with a few visiting friends, we decided to grab some drinks somewhere nearby. I've heard of Seafood Room prior to this, had a friend highly recommend me this place for both its stunning view and for being relatively quiet during the weekdays - her favourite place for drinks in DimSumland apparently. Seafood Room which is located in Tower 535 just opened in April of this year which really explains the crowd. 

After a 5-minute walk to Tower 535 from where we had dinner, we took the lift to the 26th. Seafood Room has really nice ocean themed decor. If it were up to me I would call it Seafood Mansion; it was spacious, high ceilings and came with a rooftop which had the most amazing view of the HK harbour and the Causeway Bay skyline, something you don't get to see everyday. It was drizzling but they had the cover out, so that was fine - the view was well worth it. 

The six of us ordered some beers, cocktails and a mocktail. Pretty decent cocktails but nothing extraordinary. Very relaxing atmosphere, and I highly recommend those looking for a chill time with friends and family to head up to Seafood Room even if it's only for some drinks. Wished I took more pictures of the place. Anyway, will be back!

Vanilla cheesecake $140
cheese味道非常淡 幾乎只能嘗到Vanilla的味道 Vanilla非常香非常濃郁 整個蛋糕非常軟身非常creamy 不像平時吃的chessecake般硬身 過於creamy吃多了有點膩 但是香香滑滑的味道還是非常討喜


生日月的幸福就是飯局吃不完

Overly posh seafood mealFirst greeted by a super tall model-look-alike western girl in the lift lobby downstairs (poor girl standing all alone on her 4" heels), then greeted by more tall slim western girls of the sort stepping into the restaurant from the lift, then greeted by a lot of super giant chandeliers hanging from the ceiling - wow - posh! Overly posh seafood meal

First greeted by a super tall model-look-alike western girl in the lift lobby downstairs (poor girl standing all alone on her 4" heels), then greeted by more tall slim western girls of the sort stepping into the restaurant from the lift, then greeted by a lot of super giant chandeliers hanging from the ceiling - wow - posh! A setting seems more for clubbing than dining.

Food wise, we had between the 2 of us:
1) beetroot water melon salad - good combination of 2 kinds of beetroots, water melon and creamed feta made a refreshing starter;
2) prawn capparcio - tasted quite bland to me, not comparable to either Japanese sashimi prawns nor Thai raw prawns;
3) Mediterranean seafood stew - the best act of the night, we were pleased that it seems to be made with fresh seafood than frozen ones;
4) Black pepper crab Cantonese style - who in the right mind would order a Chinese crab dish in a western restaurant? Us! And it's proven a foolish decision. It's very challenging for me to have crabs with fork and knife especially when the chefs had not really been thoughtful enough to crack the shell a bit more in consideration of the cutlery provided. Crab was ok only not seem a good fit to everything else;
5) peanut butter crunchy bar - we waited 30 minutes for this piece of peanut butter fudge cake. Not exactly worth the wait I'd say.

Service - above par.

Value - super expensive at almost $1000 per pax taking everything into consideration, especially with complementary baby crying symphony to accompany the whole meal.

Conclusion - not likely will do a second visit.

先評生劏吞拿魚的味道,跟一般自助餐的吞拿魚質素相比,毫無疑問高出幾班,最欣賞新鮮魚的溫度與及濕度,比起已放在冰箱內的生魚片,優勝很多。Seafood Room 每個星期天都會生劏一條大魚,今個星期碰巧是吞拿魚,往後有機會是三文魚以及油金魚等香港人喜歡吃的魚類。

Semi buffet 一共有三個區域,最大的當然是海鮮以及沙律吧,除了即劏的吞拿魚外,刺身還有三文魚及油金魚,但要數最吸引的,我認為是即開生蠔,今天分別有法國蠔 Gillardeau 以及 White pearl。

頭一轉任食的生蠔體積雖然較細小,但礦物味十分突出,味道夠鮮,帶有淡淡海水味。令人喜出望外的是,Seafood Room 之後refill的生蠔越推越大隻,越推越肥美,和我於晚上吃,每隻$60的貨色並無異,所以都忍唔住,多吃了幾隻。

​主菜方面,餐廳一共提供了三種選擇,菜式全部都取自晚市餐牌。我當然推介大家吃這裏的 miso salmon,之前吃過幾次,每次都滿意。令我喜出望外的反而是 grill tuna,火候控制得非常好,是漂亮的半生熟,加上吞拿魚獨有的甜美,非常不錯啊!之前吃過這裏的烤雞,效果未如理想,但朋友說今天的 roast free range chicken 卻非常不錯,雞肉嫰滑。

​Seafood Room 的甜品種類一向都不算多,正因為貴精不貴多的做法,質量都偏高。Sunday Brunch 的甜品竟然用 dessert platter 的形式奉上,將其招牌甜品漂亮地放在碟上給客人享用。最喜歡他們的士多啤梨芝士蛋糕,以及檸檬撻,但最好吃的 peanut butter crunch 卻未見踪影,希望之後可加埋落去啦...

細心的 Seafood Room 亦照顧周到地安排了一位魔術師為小朋友扭氣球,小朋友都被他逗得眉開眼笑,一眾家長也可安心地享用美食啊。星期一至六,Seafood Room 也有供應午市套餐,價錢大約由$200多元到$300多元不等,當然比晩市抵食。

Seafood Room 的日與夜真的給我一種十分不同的感覺,大白天的Seafood Room環境開揚舒服,空間感十足;晚上的 Seafood Room 給人一種很型很潮的感覺,食客們都帶着一絲絲的優越感來吃晚飯。室內的無敵海景當然起了很大的化學作用,與室內的巨型水晶燈互相輝影,也難怪這裏越夜越多人。

之前的食評都已說過晚飯的質素,整體上,還是刺身比熟食好吃。最推介一定是這𥚃的 black truffle langoustine,以及我近期愛上的 Lobster burger ($398)。

收得$400的龍蝦漢堡,分量當然要足料,這一點,Seafood Room 當然做得到。我們試過三個女孩子分了這個龍蝦漢堡,每人分到的份量也不少。麵包非常軟熟,與鮮甜有彈性的龍蝦肉一併放入口,這種美味令人感到非常幸福。

酒吧區域除了提供酒精飲品以內,也會提供很多 dining area 餐牌上沒有的小食,當中有我最喜歡吃的 lobster roll,超軟熟的麵包,混了了些少沙律醬的龍蝦肉粒,真的是好吃到不得了。

Seafood Room 景色最好的,一定是新開的天台酒吧。這天台坐擁維港無敵煙花靚景,於天朗氣清的晚上,上來吃水煙,飲香檳也真寫意。這裏的水煙真的很貴,要約$700元一壼,吸過之後你便會覺得物有所值,因為果味香濃,我要了新鮮的菠蘿香味,一點也不會搶喉。

由於個人不喜食生蠔,我多數食的是刺身和三文魚蓉。食材非常新鮮,日本刺身醬油味道很正,wasabi是從植物上磨下來而非廉價合成品,好正。


另外廚師要補魚生時,是從廚房拖出一箱冰凍三文魚,搬起一條米幾長的,放在砧板上當場sashimi條魚⋯果然D魚真係好新鮮呀!


最後main course,同行友人建議食三文魚扒,但我見個個都叫三文魚,於是就打算食吞拿魚啦。點知三文魚真係好食好多(以我口味標準而言)

While some new buildings at the Tsim Sha Tsui harbourfront are still in construction, one must not miss the impact of Tower 535 in Causeway Bay which is tall enough to offer sweeping panoramic vistas. The superbly furnished tower isn't all rented yet, with most floors being offices and several being restaurants and gyms. Perched on the 26th and 27th floor of Tower 535, the scenic advantage is simply unrivalled, and is nowhere to compare with similar rooftop eateries like Wooloomooloo Prime at Soundwill Plaza or ToTT.

Firstly with colourful bell jars like welcoming you to an aquarium, then with enormous chandeliers clinging and the view with skycrapers on both sides of the harbour through floor-to-ceiling windows, it oozes oppulence and glamour, letting diners indulge in the seaview galore. One can request for these seats at the window side, however we booked it too late thus not having the luck to enjoy seafood while facing the sea.

Even if you can't manage to get those prime seats, others in the restaurant are not bad either. With sunlight lighting up the interior, having inland skyscrapers as the backdrop isn't turning us off. Cosy seats here are better to accommodate bigger group of diners as well. Nothing to lose.

Chandeliers that are lit even in daytime are undoubtedly the focus, but in fact there are other artpieces by famous artists (including the actor Adrien Brody) hanging around the interior if you walk around. Other than the welcoming corridor featuring sea creatures, the interior is mainly with modern and vibrant design that isn't forcefully adding in elements of sea.

It is not difficult to spot the open plan kitchen where chefs and helpers were industriously preparing for our food. Not as close as how you can observe chefs at Omakase meals, watching how people work for your food adds vibrancy and youth to the grandiose scene.

As we visited the restaurant for lunch, time was rather limited and we didn't spare time going up to the rooftop bar. There is a bar area on this restaurant floor as well, with a small area having alfresco cosy sofa seats. I am sure that seating is even better up there though.

Touring around the restaurant is like visiting either an aquarium or an art museum, but we can't wait satiating our palate. Not having anything ordered, we found an octopus on our plate! (well...)

One way to try posh restaurants is to go for its lunch, and this is no exception. With the factor of prime location and luxurious decor added in, price of a 2-course lunch is way above average when compared with restaurants in Central that serve decent lunch but not focusing on seafood. $40 more for a course (I bet either appetiser or dessert) is acceptable, but selection of desserts isn't luring us to pick any of them. With limited budget and time, I suggest going for appetiser plus a main course.

If you come for dinner, be prepared for your budget as part of it depends on weight of seafood, just like how you eat in seafood restaurants in Sai Kung. Owned by a Russian hospitality company, the Bulldozer Group, the Seafood Room undoubtedly puts its focus, or perhaps 80% of the menu on seafood items, which should disappoint carnivores or vegos. Although the group is Russian, cooking methods vary greatly, including Asian (eg. hot dish and Cantonese style), Mediterranean (eg. carpaccio and tartare) and South American (eg. ceviche). Rawness or dishes not requiring much cooking but preparation dominate the menu, with each dish around $200-400 on average, showing the restaurant's focus on freshness of seafood, the true taste of which comes natural and without camouflage when served raw.

There is a big fish tank and a corner with cracked ice, showcasing its stock of seafood. Not being a connoisseur in seafood, if I were to come for dinner, I wouldn't be the one to pick one from the tank.

We ordered two 2-course lunch sets, then servers proceeded pouring olive oil and vinegar onto our plates before the bread basket was served. Service is generally fine, but details are missing - the server wasn't even aware of these drops of vinegar being off the plate to the table until we asked for tissue to clean this up. No, not traces of ants, don't be scared off.

Bamboo charcoal bread in black was the best among all, with crispy crust and sweet aftertaste that went well even without vinegar. However, the big pieces were relatively dry and not even warm when served. We asked for refill for the bamboo charcoal bread but not the others.

We struggled for some time whether it is worth trying a vegetarian appetiser, but at the end we had no regret. It is indeed with ingredients of salad but served on a thin tart.

Really fit for its name, the tart offered a refreshing start with a taste of summer greens. Salad greens were all fresh and herbaceous, including arugula, pea shoots, mizuna on top and cooked spinach melted with goatcheese at the bottom. Some of the greens offered strong pungent flavour, and levels of greens well oozed the gradient of flavour being light to strong from the top to the bottom - the gradient ended with tangy, ageing flavour of goatcheese. The tart base provided a not-so-buttery support to these refreshing greens, which made the tart fantastc on all fronts.

It was our first time to try ceviche - a dish of cured seafood in Peru. Named after the restaurant's name, this dish was deservedly acclaimed for the freshness of salmon and sea bass cubes in the tangy sauce, however the portion was a bit too small. The dish was served in a bowl upon cracked ice to keep it cool, furnished by several long slices of plantains.

Focus should be on the raw salmon and sea bass cubes amid onion, tomato, green apple and cilantro in orange, mango and lime sauce. Salmon offered a rich, fatty taste which was just balanced off by the tangy and zesty sauce. Sea bass was an impressive one as well with natural sweetness. The only thing to murmur about is just the portion of the dish.

We ordered two "similar but different" dish of fish for mains - similarity is that Barramundi (盲槽) is a.k.a. "Asian sea bass", and the difference is that ordering sea bass costs us an additional $50. Is it worth paying for?

Having the barramundi pan-fried is luring with its crispy golden surface. Artichoke panzanella, a kind of veggies that is quite a stranger to me, was placed under the fish like installing wheels to a wooden board to make a cart! Drizzles of pesto sauce at the bottom made it further aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

When compared to the sea bass that will be introduced below, barramundi here wasn't really thick which in turn couldn't satisfy much of our palate. Crispy surface is worth our applause, but texture and the taste of flesh was rather plain. This type of fish tastes rather mild, and with no special sauce to bring out its sweetness but just drizzles of salt as seasoning, it didn't taste bad, but not outstanding either. Artichoke panzanella was served as a tomato-based veggie as sides, which were pleasing to our appetite.

Plating is similar to the previous one, but topped with cubes of tomato and placed with potato at the bottom. Golden edge of the fried sea bass is not to be missed!

Apparently this is much thicker and larger in size than the previous one. It was fried just right, with tomato salsa not adulterating the delicate flavour and sweetness of sea bass. However, the skin wasn't thoroughly fried as the barramundi, as you may notice that other than the edge, the remaining part wasn't shining in golden yellow and not crispy either.

This dish was a lot more flavourful, with the highlight of tomato salsa and slices of cherry tomatoes remaining intact and just slightly grilled.

Potatoes are with traces of grill as well, showing a bit of attention to details on sides. In general, this was perceived much of a better main among the two, however costing us $50 more too, making it costing even more than a plain 3-course lunch set.

We ordered a hot Americano and this black currant fruit tea for the drinks, the highlight of which goes to the latter. It came in a large porcelain pot and tea cup in Chinese style, simple but elegant. It is quite a big pot, even without addition of hot water, the volume sufficed filling up 5-6 tea cups! A fruity and sweet tea marked the end of the lunch in a role like sweetness in desserts.

$280/head is deemed as quite a luxurious lunch for me, seriously not within my usual lunch budget. An "OK" was given to this meal simply because of the portion as well as rather plain and not-so-special taste of fish in our mains. Our high hopes for the Seafood Room come from its famous chef, unfortunately aren’t well attained, though not completely dashed either. Its dining atmosphere and stunning vistas is of course unrivalled, but food and service needs a bit of polish to match with its marked-up price to make diners return.

Let alone being either an aquarium, an art gallery or a lookout venue, the Seafood Room is never expected to be just a "room" to satiate both palate and palette. With all its fancy elements, food is certainty an area to create an appropriate C/P value. We do hope to be back!

I know it seemed farfetched and trying our luck on their very first brunch, but we loved the place and so we went!

Alas, we arrived and there is a beautiful spread of different oysters, charcuterie, ceviche and many more.

The team have been very sweet and although a little lost (some of them), i understand the teething problems that a restaurant has to face specially for a big place like this. We were lucky that we have Anson looking after our table as well.

The main courses, were very generous, my seabass was too big, I couldn't even finish them myself.

The kids loved the dessert platter with yuzu tart, peanut butter crunch and strawberry cheesecake. 

Brunch costs at $598 which I personally think is a bargain, for a 4-hour brunch (12pm to 4pm) with all the fresh seafood that comes with it and if you want to add in a free-flow, they have Perrier Jouet Champagne at an additional $338 per person.

I just saw on their facebook page, they have different live stations and clowns to entertain the kids... Best way for parents' to have Sunday brunches is when the kids are distracted.

Highly reccommend this place. Must make reservations ahead of time though!

As we got to the top floor of the new Tower 535, we were greeted by two tall, beautiful Russian hostesses and led into the spacious dining area. We were not surprised at all. Seafood Room marks the Hong Kong debut of Bulldozer Group, a leading hospitality and nightlife group from Russia. Marketed as one of the biggest restaurant openings of the year, Seafood Room proudly boasts its sweeping views of the city and Victoria Harbour.
 

Note: the restaurat area is splitted into two areas - one showcases the harbour and the other side presents the city view; remember to indicate where you want to dine when you book

First up, we ordered the Tuna Carpaccio (HK$240). Nice, long, thin slice of tuna was placed on top of a bed of foie gras mousse, this was topped with some virgin oil and truffle bits which brought some nutty and earthy elements to the dish. The fresh unami of the tuna went surprisingly well with the rich and buttery foie gras mousse.
We were glad that there was no truffle overdose or the pungent flavour would have overpowered the natural aroma of the tuna!
This was a solid dish, but would be even more to my liking if the foie gras taste can be more prominent; it was slightly played down by the cream.

Next up was the highlight of the night - Langoustine Tartare (HK$260). The tower of avocado with raw langoustine toped with truffle (yes again), caviar and gold flecks is a luxurious luring art piece itself. It was certainly an aromatic delight as the chef cleverly paired up avocado (love love love
) with raw langoustine for that EXTRA creamy silky texture, the herbaceous fragrant of the avocado paired well with the sweet soy sauce and the caviar on top. I loved how the caviar in my mouth, and the rich, slightly sweet taste oozes and dresses over the unbeatable avocado langoustine mix (hehehe). A must-order item here! Loved every bite of this dish!!

We decided to add an extra cold dish since the langoustine tartare was an absolute star, and so we picked the Yellow Tail Carpaccio (HK$230)... unfortunately, this was not even half as good.
The yellow tail pieces were nicely sliced (at least they got one thing right haha) - not too thick and not too thin. They were laid systematically on a pond of yuzu sauce and once again, topped with truffle. The acidity and citrusy of yuzu sauce did not really work with the truffle.
 In fact, the yellow tail did not taste very fresh and we had a strong feeling that the chef was adding truffle to this dish to cover up the fishiness.

As one of our mains, we ordered the Scallops (HK$320). The scallops were of fair size; but they were not as juicy and bouncy as I hoped. The lack of moist was perhaps because they were overcooked? (Nothing beats the Grand Hyatt Steak House Scallops!) The seasoning, I must say, is intriguing. I enjoyed the buttery cauliflower puree underneath, but the dish was not just about creaminess. They sealed the deal with the sweetness of the golden sauterns sauce.
The mixture of dukkha spice, raisins and nuts added an interesting dimension to the dish. Ah, if only they did justice to the seared scallops...

Finally, we were served with the Miso Salmon (HK$350). A thick fillet of salmon was brought to us on a large leaf with lime. What a generous portion!
Yes, there was no other accompany ingredient or sauce. The salmon was nicely cooked, pink in the center, and slightly charred with a miso glaze on the top. Add a splash of lime for extra complexity. The lime certainly popped through the sweet and savoury classic miso aroma, and stimulated our apetite! Enjoyable dish~




All in all, the Seafood Room definitely has room for improvement (both food-wise and service-wise). Putting the good looking hostesses aside... throughout the night, service was generally not very attentive. It appeared that the servers were not very experienced (you can tell by the way they put down and arranged our plates and culteries hahaha). 

Naming itself THE Seafood Room entails expectation; with the price tag and the marketing, I came with even higher expectation. Hopefully, as we go forward, the Seafood Room will not only be a place to view our beautiful harbour, but a true and proud seafood restaurant itself.

Brownie points~~~ The Seafood Room has a lovely outdoor terrace on the top floor. On the saturday night I visited, I was shocked to see NO ONE AT ALL on their top-floor terrace. What a shame.. what a waste.. 

Well, no complaints - I enjoyed my chilled Chardonnay at peace.

晚上工作完和吃貨女友們聚會,吃飯選址都不用我操心,而且每次都帶我去一些城中新開的漂亮餐廳,實在太貼心!這次選了家在銅鑼灣世貿旁邊謝菲道上新建好的商廈Tower 535裡面的一家吃海鮮的餐廳,兩個月前才剛開幕,非常期待!這家seafood room是著名俄羅斯飲食集團bulldozer group旗下的首家在亞洲區開設的餐廳,由曾在倫敦十大海鮮餐廳之一擔任高級廚師的Chef James Cornwall擔任總廚。聽好友說她打電話到餐廳訂位打了很多次都沒人接,後來直接在他們facebook上留言說要訂座,馬上就有人reply,所以大家如果打不通電話可以試試fb留言哈哈。餐廳有8000呎非常大,樓頂高,坐得很舒服。裝潢很時尚雅致,有很多花花草草的元素,在餐廳入口旁邊還有陳列著新鮮海鮮的冰台。帶我們去桌子的店員都是身材非常高挑的外國美女,像model一樣,是不是從俄羅斯進口來的哈哈哈。就如店名一樣,這家餐廳90%賣的都是海鮮,如果真的不能吃海鮮的朋友還可以選他們菜單上唯一不是海鮮的兩樣:烤雞和牛扒。我們懶得想,所以直接請店員推薦,負責我們桌的店員很友善,推薦的食物我們都非常滿意哈哈。餐廳有送款

就如店名一樣,這家餐廳90%賣的都是海鮮,如果真的不能吃海鮮的朋友還可以選他們菜單上唯一不是海鮮的兩樣:烤雞和牛扒。我們懶得想,所以直接請店員推薦,負責我們桌的店員很友善,推薦的食物我們都非常滿意哈哈。餐廳有送款式多樣的餐前麵包,特別的是在店員幫我們倒了橄欖油之後,會有一個拿著一個盆栽的店員直接用剪刀把葉子剪碎放到我們的橄欖油裡,感覺很有機哈哈。原來這叫牛俐草,我們還覺得奇怪為什麼有店員老是拿著一個盆栽在餐廳裡走來走去哈哈!

第一樣點的是Octopus Carpaccio($195). 生牛肉carpaccio我吃得比較多,用章魚切成薄片我還是第一次吃。上面鋪滿了rocket和車厘茄,下面是薄薄的章魚肉。吃起來酸酸的,橄欖油味道濃,章魚軟軟的蠻好吃。

下一道是salmon tataki ($215). 三文魚外面有燒一下,裡面還是生的,很肥美。上面有放一塊炸的三文魚皮,脆脆的很有口感。這邊上菜是一道道吃完上的,還沒吃正餐已經很飽了哈哈。

When it comes to seafood, I always believe in "less is more". As long as the ingredients are fresh, there's no point of adding too much seasoning into the equation.

I thought they had a pretty good octopus carpaccio last time I was here but I wanted to try something different this time. The langoustine carpaccio with rocket leaves, lemon and lime dressing ($280) fits the bill nicely. Pretty decent stuff.

More successful was the next starter, sea urchin with ponzu and shiso leaf ($125). And the raw quail egg yolk made it so rich and tasty. Yum~

I decided to go back to the well with this beetroot salad. Can't go wrong with this choice since we love beetroot and endive so much. Tonight, it didn't have the same amount of feta cheese, which was slightly disappointing.

For the second time in a roll, I am ordering this Alaskan king crab and wasabi gratin ($495) as my final dish. Again, it was very meaty. I love the flavors from the wasabi providing something extra to go with the sweetness of the crab meat. That was nicely done.

Although I was very excited about going to this place - great location and view - the experience was very disappointing. The service was flawed with drinks taking 20 minutes to be delivered after not having some options in stock, plates were dirty with fingerprints and oil residue and the food sub-standard for the price. No wow factor here. Total meal for two was overpriced and as an experience 5/10. I wouldn't go back with so many better options available in Hong Kong.

My buddy V was in charge of our dinner venue tonight and after much deep thought and careful consideration, he came back with Ta Vie 旅, Seafood Room, G7 and Esmé (Maison Eight) for the boys to choose from. Seafood Room is a member of the Bulldozer Group, a Russian-owned hospitality and nightlife group based in the Middle East that owns more than 80 upscale restaurants and bars in the world. This is their first foray into Asia and obviously they're very keen in making this one of the hippest restaurant and bar in the city.

The space is absolutely huge here. I took some time to circle around the premise and from the open kitchen, I spotted Executive Chef James Cornwall, the former head chef of J Sheekey (a famous fish and seafood restaurant in Covent Garden) working hard with his team.

They've got a real exciting seafood-oriented menu that includes fresh oysters, sashimi, tartare, carpaccio and ceviche coming from different corners of the world. There are also Chinese and Western style hot dishes covering a wide range of fresh seafood ingredients available.

First up for us was octopus carpaccio served with rocket leaves, tomato and lemon dressing ($195), This was a dish highly recommended by our server and one that was getting pretty good reviews from a few of us. The octopus was really nicely textured and even a simple lemon dressing was enough to bring out the best of it. I like the combination of small cherry tomatoes, rocket leaves and pine nuts providing the carpaccio an interesting texture and bite.

I was expecting this beetroot salad to be very small because it's one of the cheapest item on the menu ($155) but turns out it can easily accommodate 2-3 of us grown men. I'm a big beet freak so I was really happy with this. The large chunks of beets were very refreshing to go with the watermelon, endive and a dash of feta. Very nice.

Slightly less successful was our final starter - salmon tataki with jalapeño and avocado cream ($215). I thought the salmon was fresh but the sauce with jalapeño has gotta be a little more exotic.

Serving as our first main dish was slow-cooked salmon with lime and a miso glaze ($350). The lovely fragrance from the miso was one of the few bright spots for an otherwise average salmon dish.

We were saving the best for last, deliberately saving the Alaska king crab leg ($495) as the final savory dish of the night. I was trying to measure up the size of this thing and not surprisingly, it had the length of my forearm! This was very very meaty with lots of crab meat. Again, they did a simple glaze with wasabi on top while keeping the natural sweetness of the crab meat intact. Well, that was really delish and I certainly won't mind having this again in the very near future (and I did!!!).

After two bottles of wine and five really good dishes, we were all set to go straight for the bill but V wanted something sweet for his sweet tooth. Following a long discussion, we decided to just get a single dessert, a yuzu tart ($130) where we can share a bite together. For whatever reason, I had trouble finding any yuzu flavors from the tart and instead, it tasted utterly similar to the lemon meringue tart I had just a few hours ago. Is that weird or what!?

I was really happy with the decoration and atmosphere around this place. In terms of food, we could tell the ingredients were very fresh although personally, I was expecting Chef Cornwall to dazzle me more with an unusual but exciting mix of ingredients. But as it turns out, there's nothing I haven't tried anywhere else before.

顧名思義,Seafood Room 主打供應各式各樣的海鮮食物,其實有點像高級版鬼佬鯉魚門。近門口位置放置了一個大魚缸,養着新鮮的游水海鮮;另一個邊的冰櫃就放了每天新鮮運到的魚類,客人都愛聚在這裏挑選自己喜歡的食材。最低讚的是,我丁點兒魚腥味也嗅不到。

再行前一點便是 open kitchen,由英國來的大廚為首,率領一隊廚師兵團,不停手地為full house的客人烹調美食。星期四的晚上也差不多 full house,大家記緊要提早訂位啊,免得空歡喜一場。

餐牌上見到有一欄用廣東煮法的海鮮,大家都想知道這間西式的 Seafood Room,用中式的煮法去處理蟶子 Razor Clams ($230),究竟 work唔work呢?這個蒜蓉粉絲蒸蟶子味道中規中矩,我們只略嫌蟶子不夠大及肥美。整體上是ok work的,起碼蒜蓉粉絲的味道也對板。

Slow Cook Miso Salmon ($350) 是我們的推介菜式,三文魚柳煮得非常之嫰滑,大廚亦用了日本miso將三文魚的表面略為調味,大家都激讚魚油充足。如果在調味方面可以再重手少少,咁就完美了。

大肚媽媽為了補充營養,一定要多吃魚,於是我們便點了原條 Sea Bream ($610)為她打打氣。Sea Bream 比想像中細條了一點,肉質不算超級嫰滑,但魚肉滲有陣陣薄荷及香草香氣,令人有追吃下去的感覺。

Seafood Room 也有供應大概六至七款甜品,我們點了三款,分別是寫了生日字句的芝士蛋糕 Baked Vanilla Cheese Cake ($140),另一位J小姐的香蕉花生醬朱古力蛋糕 Peanut Butter Crunch Bar ($130),以及無花果撻 Fig Tart ($150)。這個士多啤梨芝士蛋糕屬於鬆散型的,我覺得幾好食,但其他姊妹都比較喜歡 New York cheese cake 那種風格。

潮拜後感:對於這裏的環境以及服務,真心認為非常出色。Seafood Room 擁有着維港夜景及看煙花的地理優勢,也難怪這裏越夜越多人。食物方面,價錢沒有想像中誇張,當然一點也不便宜,但以這個裝修及配套來說,其實是可以接受的。至於味道,有個別十分出色的,但也有流於平庸的,希望可以越做越好。大家如果想晚上來,記得book位,尤其是周末。順便一提,這裏的海鮮午市套餐約$350,比晚市便宜很多。
